  1. NICE !!!! Larry Watson would be proud ! Such gorgeous work , John ! Must share this thread on F.B.
  2. HA ! I noticed that as well , but I wasn't gonna bust yer chops ; I figured there was a reason for its placement on the d-side .
  3. My mistake (insert embarrassed blush here) .
  4. I agree ; Revell should add the 1971-1974 Javelin to their "must do" list ! And , you're right about the outdated engines in the later-issue JoHan AMC kits : they were Nash 287/327 V8's with B.W. Flash-O-Matics behind 'em !
  5. Looks like it's got a 727 backing it up . Those 727-RG trans are rare ! Looks great , by the way
  6. Those early disc brake calipres caused a lot of drag ( by nature of their function ) , which is why 99% of race cars ( Stock Car , 1/4 mile , etc. ) had drums until the early-mid seventies .
  7. Very nice A-Van , Jeff !! That 70's Mercury colour looks right at home here , like someone had their 60's A-100 repainted in the mid-seventies . Are those wheels and whitewall tyres from the L.R.W. kit ; and if not , where did you source them from ? Keep up the great work !
  8. Tamiya orange cap glue for at least 70% of the build ; green cap Tamiya for a few clamped-together assemblies , and ; Cyanoacrylate for "quick" assemblies and adhesion (in es , parts that I don't want for them to have a cold chemical weld due to one or more pieces being thin) . I've also used clear RTV silicone for installing windshield , backlight , lenses , ( especially the windshields of convertibles !) and other pieces that I feel need some flexibility . I haven't used the typical tube-type glues in absolutely years ! It's such garbage ; way too messy ( I like how the glue continues to leech-out of the applicator no matter how quickly you reinstall the cap !) .
  9. 1968 was also the last year for a manual trans C-Body : 330 hp 383 Commando ( Plymouth ) Magnum (Dodge) .
  10. ...and the A-488 TorqueFlite backing that engine is cast iron ; aluminum-case T-Flites didn't premiere until 1960 (A-904 "TorqueFlite Six") and 1962 (A-727 "TorqueFlite Eight") .
  11. I've seen this transkit online and wondered how it'd look in completed form ! Can't wait to see you post some pics of the kit's contents ... By the way , Oz did have Valiant wagons past '66 .

  13. According to MrMike ( http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showuser=5234 ) , the aerosol sealer called "Killz" works best to seal red and red-ish coloured plastic .
  14. I remember when all of that licensing bulldung started : 1988 . It snowballed from there and infiltrated every aspect of the automotive hobby , plastic replicas or restoration parts ! It's typical college boy mentality ; short-sighted business practise . Those idiot college boys would *think* that the kit manufactures are giving them free P.R. , but no . It would be great to see more GMC conversion parts / kits ! I'd even like to see someone cast the Twin-Six and the "Big Block" V6 series (305-351-ad seq.)
  15. If worse comes to worse , you can always strip the parts completely ( "Purple Power" , et al. ) , paint them with a gloss black basecoat , and then lay down some Duplicolor CS-101 . It's not only more durable than Alclad , but it's also not a PITA to use . Its finish is very convincing !
  16. Thanks much for the link , Jonathan ! I can't help but wonder if that car is the car I saw 25+ years ago ...
  17. I may've recounted this story before , but I feel it's worth its own topic ... Back in c.1986 , I saw what I thought was an unusual vehicle :a retired 1982 Mustang C.H.P. hatchback . I remember thinking at that time , Hmm ... this is the first time I've seen a hatchback CHP Mustang... I've only seen the coupe versions ... Upon checking it out , I saw : - "Certified" speedometre - Police-model-specific cloth & vinyl bucket seats - 15" steel wheels with hubcaps - Holes in the driver's side A-Pillar for a single Unity spotlight (nothing on the passengers' side) - Lack of "5.0" emblems I took some photos of it , knowing that it was an oddball (in some capacity). Unfortunately , all of the photos were destroyed during the 1987 Whittier Earthquake ( 01.OCT.1987 @ 0742 HRS ) . They were Polaroid photos , so no negatives existed :( . In subsequent years , I lost track of the vehicle . It seems that its owner's house was destroyed in the aforementioned earthquake , so he moved away . Obviously , at that time , I was busy with other obligations , so its presence --or lack thereof-- wasn't on my mind . But , I divulge ... Has anyone else ever seen one of these hatchback CHP Mustangs ? It's my understanding that they're quite rare ; that they were experimental , and only a handful --if that-- were made . They didn't *work* because of the extra weight and because the hatchback would leave the officers' equipment exposed (guns and whatnot) . Also , if anyone's got some pics , please post 'em here
  18. I like this a lot , Jerry ! I could tell by the pics that it's the ol' AMT annual (those weird tyres that AMT was using back then ... ). Good call on the aluminum foil for the instrument clustre ! I wonder if a similar process was what wrought about Bare Metal Foil . Keep up the great work !
  19. It is always intriguing to me to find that there are fellow enthusiasts in other countries ; and , especially when those enthusiasts are into North American vehicles (!!). Brother Grzegorz ( let me apologise for misspelling his name here ) is a prime example ! Absolute talent ; beautiful workmanship . W348 and W409 have consistantly turned out some gorgeous replicas as well ( love your race cars , guys !). Certainly , our brothers in Jolly Olde have also contributed some splendid works as well . I would like to see ambassadors from the U.S. , England , France , etc. , etc. , as well as outreach-type organisations , promote the hobby ! It's a great escape for anyone , and may be of help to the citizens of unstable countries / regions to keep their minds occupied , especially the children of those regions . I know , totally unrealistic . A nice idea none-the-less ... Keep those awesome builds coming , my fellow overseas plastic fanatics !

  21. Thanks again , Rob ; and thanks for the link , Casey !
  22. Thank you , Rob and Bill . Bill - Last time I checked (yesterday around 2200 HRS) , Missing Link's site was still in limbo ; just inaccessible . However , I've said it before , and I'll say it again : Missing Link's parts are the best ! Rob and-or Charlie - Have either of you bought from Hart's Parts ? Their parts look really nice in the provided photos ; however , I can't recall ever seeing photos / critiques of their parts anywhere . Thanks again , guys !
  23. 1.) 1970 Dart Swinger 2.) 1970-1972 El Camino 3.) 1955 F-100
  24. For the life of me , I cannot find out which 'caster sells bucket seats for the 1971 Charger R/T , the AMT version . I *believe* that this same caster also produces a bench seat for the 1971 Duster 340 , also made by AMT . Please provide a link and-or a plug for your company . Thanks !
  25. This will be a fun thread to follow , Niko ! A red FE-Series engine ... looks quite nice ! That's the nice thing about building race cars ; you can paint the engine whatever colour you want ! When I built the Baldwin-Motion 1970 Camaro Phase III a number of years ago , I painted its engine Chrome Yellow . Looking forward to watching you two build these gems !
