Round 2 Purchases Lindberg/Hawk
1972coronet replied to Art Anderson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hope that the 1/32 scale moulds / tooling still exist , as I'd love to see those "oddball" '73-'77 G.M. Colonnade A-bodies and the even more obscure 1975-1977 Granada / Monarch ! -
I've always had a thing for the 914 ! Can't wait to see how yours is going to turn out ! Scariest ride I've ever been in was a 1970 914 with a 327 / 4-speed (the latter from a 930 or something) . Just plain nuts ! Ran like a striped ape and handelled like it was on rails ! Had to pull me britches from my posterior after the ride ended !

That's a groovy Dodge , Jason ! If not for its Dominator-esque carbs , it'd pass for a then-new A/FX car (the 426 Hemi was intro'ed in mid-1964 as the replacement for the 426 Wedge) . '64 was also the first year for the world-reknowned A-833 4-speed !
-
The *closest* ones are in the AMT "Dirty Donny" Chevy Van ; but , they're representative of the c.1970-c.1979 "coned" hub caps .
-
Is it just me , or is there only stock wheels for this kit (i.e. , no custom wheels) ?? If so , I hope that Round2 would have the foresight to add the wheels (Ansen Sprints) and tyres from the 1977 Smokey Convoy Chaser to their reissue .

I've been pining for one of these coveted MPC 1971 Demon kits since I first saw one in 1975 (!!) . One of my friend's older brothers had one ; it was built and on display , and when I saw its box , I was in love ! I'd kinda forgotten about the kit until c.1987 , when I saw it in the Plastic For Sale section in S.A.E. Asking prices for the kit at *that* time were in the $25.00 - $50.00 range (entirely too much for a 17 year old to afford !). I can't wait for this kit to finally be reissued ! No more outrageous , stupid prices for a 25th scale kit ( I mean , jeez , I gave $70.00 for a 1:1 1973 Duster in 1992 !!). Perhaps I'll buy a case of 'em ! I'll definitely have to buy a load of the '75-'76 Dart Sport kits , as those will be discontinued after a short "one run of fun"...

Gregg - I wish to first thank you (and all whom are involved) for this fun forum ! The Hawai'ian approach is a super idea ; really cool Up-Country mindset . I also really appreciate it that , when I screw up Casey shoots me a P.M. and explains ,in no unceretain terms , where I went astray . There are a lot of cool folks around here ; lots of true craftsman . Thanks again , Gregg ! ** I corrected my misspelling of the forum's site host . I apologise to him for this oversight on my part. **

Was the Grandville based on the G-Body or was its origins the Cadillac line ( I forget what GM's body style name was for the Sedan DeVille , etc. )

Alan , I love your '75 Sport ! I've seen it before , and I never get tired of seeing it ! I , too , have a promo Sport : a 1975 , also in Y1 Blaze Yellow ! Bought it back in '91 at a swap meet for five dollars . It's in perfect condition ; however , its original box was gone when I bought the promo (no big deal to me !). I still have to buy a set or two of those gorgeous 1972-1976 Dodge W11 Deluxe Wheel Covers from Missing Link !
-
I like the R/T decals on that Demon , Allen ! Reminds me of something one would see in Brasil or Mexico ( and , believe me , I mean that in the most complimentery way ! It looks great !). The wheels on your Duster look righteous ! Love its interior , too ! Keep up the great work ! Let's see some more builds , guys

He's my all-time favourite Stuntman ! He's been doing stunts since the 40's or 50's ; he was close friends with James Dean , and was with him when Dean died in that infamous crash . He certainly did drive that '71 LeMans in French Connection ; and as you've stated , he played the part of one of the cops in said film. ___________________ Keep up that great work , Michael !

Outstanding 'Vette , Ray ! I absolutely LOVE that dolled-up Blue Flame Six and its side draft carburettures ( ) ! Just gorgeous work ! And your '64 'Imp is outstanding as well ! Keep up the beautiful work , Ray

I can hardly wait for the up-coming reissue of the MPC 1975-1976 Dart Sport and the backdated MPC 1971 Demon 340 from Round2 !! I would love to see some of my fellow forum members' builds of these gems ; the more the better ! Also , please describe in detail what modifications you've performed (kitbashing , etc.) , how old your build is (e.g. , built back in 1971 or 1976 , or whatever) , and what --if any-- resources you've employed for your build(s) (factory brochures , photos of originals / modifieds , etc.). Have a great week everyone !

Dodge & Plymouth A12 steel wheels
1972coronet replied to Robyn's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
These look like they're based off of the Yodel 1975-1978 Monaco / Gran Fury ( LOVE the tyres in those kits , too !) -
Then add-in the different 383's : - 1968-1971 383 two-barrel = Turquoise-Blue - 1968-1971* 383 four-barrel (325 & 330 hp) = Turquoise-Blue - 1969-1971* 383 ( 335 hp ) Road Runner Engine** & Magnum** = Chrysler Engine Orange * = By 1971 , the last year for the 383 , all HP versions were rated at 300 hp (compression drop and revised heads) , and all were Orange (again , some exceptions ; mostly in "C"-bodies). ** = R.R.'s and Super Bees with A/C had Turquoise-Blue 383's , as the 335 hp's cam profile was too radical to accomodate the A/C's vacuum requirements , and Chrysler was concerned that overrevving of the 383 would grenade the ol' York RV-2 compressor ! As George53 mentioned : not every engine was painted "correctly" from the factory ; and no where else is this as apparent as the 1969 340 ! They were *supposed* to be Chrysler Turquoise-Blue ; however , some early 340's were Chrysler Red (as were all 1968 340's) , most were Turquoise-Blue , and some late-year 340's were Chrysler Orange (as were all 1970-1971 340's). And , the blue was changed to a "generic" shade for 1972 : it's colloquially known as "1972 Blue" .

History of MPC's Rounded Line Trucks
1972coronet replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Am I alone in wanting to see Round2 reissue the 1/16 scale 1973-1978 ( I'm not familiar with the year-to-year cosmetic changes of those years) Chevy Pickup ? They were snap-together ; they were geared toward the "build-and-play" crowd . There were , I think , three different versions : - Fleetside with a snow plow (moulded in black / chrome / yellow); - Tow Truck (moulded in blue / chrome / yellow), and ; - Fire Truck (moulded in red / yellow / chrome). They were issued in the early 80's . Other than the "chunk" engine , plastic-rod axles and moulded-open-in-the-back tyres , they were quite well done ( detailled grille , dash / instruments , and fender emblems ) . -
Very , Very cool , James The coolness factor was increased by the inclusion of your feline companion ! My "ship's cat" , Oliver (American Shorthair) is eleven years old , but still acts like a kitten ! He nebs into all of my projects ; he got into my AMT '62 Buick project and swatted all that he could of it onto the floor . He's like an innocent , curious little boy . Thanks for sharing your technique and ideas with us !~

History of MPC's Rounded Line Trucks
1972coronet replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Nice review , Chris . The only *correction* I can contribute pertains tot he first issue , the 1978 Annual : it was moulded in white , not maroon as you've mentioned . It is , indeed , two-wheel-drive . I built many of the original kit ; none have survived the ravages of time . It's the only version of that series that I ever wish to build again , but with the wheels / tyres from the AMT Chevy Van kit (steel wheels / hubcaps). The third iteration of the '78 Pickup ---the so-called "Dust Devil"--- was a huge disappointment for me upon its release , as the false advertising of a "stock" version ---in two-wheel-drive guise-- was only revealled to me upon opening the box . GemCo took it back from my 9 year old hands and offered me a replacement . But , it didn't end there ! I wrote a letter to MPC explaining my dismay ; my disappointment over their false advertising of a "stock" version. MPC replied in kind , and they too offered a replacment kit . I refused their offer , as GemCo already made good with a replacement . But , I divulge ... Round2 : Pretty Please retool that Fall Guy GMC to its 1978 origins , but with 2 wheel drive suspension in addition to the coveted (by most , not me) 4 wheel drive parts ; and , include both bedstyles . -

HA ! I noticed that as well , but I wasn't gonna bust yer chops ; I figured there was a reason for its placement on the d-side . -

My mistake (insert embarrassed blush here) . -
I agree ; Revell should add the 1971-1974 Javelin to their "must do" list ! And , you're right about the outdated engines in the later-issue JoHan AMC kits : they were Nash 287/327 V8's with B.W. Flash-O-Matics behind 'em !
