I pray to J that those steelies / hubcaps are part of the new tooling ! -
What would YOU like to see as a model
1972coronet replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Round2 still has the 1975/1976 Dart Sport tooling. It was last issued a few years ago in '1976' guise (i.e., 1976 annual's box art), and is moulded in a gold metallic. That issue has some of the Hang 10 decals (body stripes ; none of the interior 'upholstery') . A 1975 model of the Hang 10 would be 'easiest' as only decals would be necessary (an oversimplification on my part -- the 4-speed trans is incorrect, along with other items I've mentioned ad nauseam on this forum over the years). I'd be keen on a 1974 grille and tail lamp panel 'filler' for the MPC Dart. At that point, a 1973 340 could be represented as well. Insofar as the kit is concerned : ditch those Pontiac-esque "custom" rims and replace them with the Ansen-type rims from the 1977 edition of the LM29 ( Smokey Chaser ? ) . The 1:1 Hang 10 could be had with the E58 360 (245hp and long on torque) , with the 225 and 318 as standard engines. That 360 was thee hot ticket for those Dart Sports and Dusters. -
I'd read some friends' in memoriam for Joel "Mr. Motion" Rosen of Motion Performance on Long Island . One of the hobby's greatest innovators , engineers, and Ten Finger Tune-Up folks in history.

I'm just pleased to read that the Chevy Pickup is "comming soon" !

A few minor things for strictly OOB build-ups : - Incorrect engine compartment - Hodgepodge of 1967-1968-1969 tail lamp /valance - Incorrect, F-250-style 6-lug wheels as the option (thankfully, a nice set of period correct rims were added to the c.2015 ad seq. issues) The kit's good attributes outweigh any of its shortcomings : - Rare-in-1:1 "Recall" (W27) rims - Hurst Dual Gate consolette & shifter (in spite of the kit's having a 4-speed. This is an artifact of the kits' original issues which included a 225 six/ 904 'standard', and a 426 Race Hemi / 727 as the option) - The only game in town for a '67-'69 Barracuda (though I'm keen on the hardtop and convertible styles those years more so than the fast back) - Presents nicely as an OOB 'shelf candy' kit.

1970 Dodge Challenger Kits - Whose is best?
1972coronet replied to jjsipes's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
IMO, that design looked good for 1972 only. Once those highway work truck bumper guards (which, conversely, I actually like on the 1973-1974 Duster & Dart Sport) came along, the novelty wore off. -
Kammy is a gorgeous ginger Tabby. Her name reminds me of 'Kami' (Japanese for 'Spirit' , etc.). I'm pleased that she gave you many years of companionship and love !

I laughed entirely too hard at your name of that "customiser" ! HAHAHAHAHAHA !

1970 Dodge Challenger Kits - Whose is best?
1972coronet replied to jjsipes's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I recently had (but had to sell for financial reasons) that very 1974 annual kit. I, too, was surprised by the lack of bumper guards ! For whatever reason, the 1974 Duster annual is also sans bumper guards, in spite of the 1973 having them. The '74 is a good starting point for replicating a '72 because of the 'missing' guards (okay, so the bonnet's callouts read 360 FOUR BARREL - despite the kit having the totally incorrect 426 Hemi, just as you've mentioned). My original plan was to build a replica of "Jill" from Gone in 60 Seconds ! , down to the licence plate ( "000 GAL" vs. its "new" plate ) , etc. -
1.) Blues Brothers 2.) The Friends of Eddie Coyle 3.) Rosemary's Baby 4.) Easy Rider 5.) Slacker

1970 Dodge Challenger Kits - Whose is best?
1972coronet replied to jjsipes's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Then there's the ridiculously priced MPC 1970 (ad seq.) Challenger R/T annual. Those were all hardtops only; AMT (a separate company from MPC at the time) is the only convertible offering, warts and all (but at least it's got the Dana 60 - the only E-body Dana 60 until the Revell 1970 Hemi 'Cuda of c.2013). I agree completely : someone needs to fill that void ! I'm hoping that Round2 has a revised-from-original-tooling 1970 Challenger in the planning stages. While the MPC 1970-1974 Challenger kits were primitive, they at least looked the part. Their only flaw (other than the usual artifacts-of-the-era) is that all of them - including the 1972-1974 kits - had only the 426 Hemi. And, IIRC, the "stock" iteration was shod with a single 4 Bbl, no correct dual carb setup. Heck, I'd be happy with a promo-style offering (think: 1965 GTO and 1968 GTO kits of recent). -
Thanks much for sharing your composition. One of my all time favourite kits ! The one-continuous-piece shear panels-interior door cards-rear panels has its origins in the MPC Pinto and Mustang II annual kits. Interesting that this was employed on the then-new Fox Body platform kits. Funny thing about the "5.0 " badging from that era : some (all ?) were actually the 255 cube Windsor , but were referred - however erroneously - to as five litre. An artifact of the energy crisis era coupled with 'artistic licence' . The true 302 cubes / 5 litres engine returned en masse for 1982 or 1983 (someone with more knowledge on these cars will correct any of my unintentional errors). FWIW, I'd like to see Round2 perform some upgrades to the 1987/1988 annual tooling : 1.) Revised head lamps and bezels ( plated buckets with clear lenses ) 2.) Proper tyres (Good Year Gatorbacks - sans lettering) 3.) Revised tail lamps and lenses (clear lenses, so that the turn signal/hazard portion can be painted the correct amber)

'70 Dodge Clallenger T/A vs R/T

Just because a T/A convertible didn't exist in 1:1 doesn't mean that you can't build one. -
'70 Dodge Clallenger T/A vs R/T
1972coronet replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To add to the others' info : 1.) The 340 engines were specifically-cast with T/A cast into them (even though the 'Cuda was called AAR) 2.) Cylinder heads had provisions for offsetting the pushrods (casting number was the same, 'X' heads of all 1968-1970 340s) 3.) All had power disc brakes 4.) "Fast Ratio" steering was 'merely' the same ratio gearbox, but the pitman arm was longer 5.) All had Sure Grip Interior appointments - including gauges - were shared with the regular cars (e.g., standard gauges or Rallye Gauges as an option). All were shod with 15" wheels, with either base hubcaps or Rallye Wheels as an option (none had the Road Wheels (colloq. "Magnum 500") nor were 14" rims an option). Tyres were of different sizes front and rear. There are other 'anomalies' with these batch-built cars. One which stands out to me is the placement of the antenna for the optional receiver : sometimes it's on the right quarter panel, other times it's on the right fender. -
