Did some engine detailing today. Still never made it to the hobby shop to buy some red paint. I just didn’t feel like heading out in the snow. Some pics of the mighty Hemi...

Not a bad part, but with resin, you just never know. It came with the rear suspension and rear end, but I decided to use a rear from the parts drawer. Around the engine mounts is where it seemed it would need the most clean up. I’ve bought bodies and decals from SMH, and never had a problem. One time a piece arrived damaged, and they promptly replaced it.

Not totally sure Elvin. They are from the parts drawer. If I were to guess, maybe the AMT 67 Chevelle pro street.

Replicating wood grain on a dash
Brutalform replied to drodg's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya Desert Tan, then lightly add some fine brush strokes of Tamiya Bronze, then go over that with Tamiya Clear Orange. -
Thanks for all the replies. I worked on the roll bar this morning, and painted all of the parts, except the body. Ran out of red paint. I have the engine assembled for the most part. Did some spark plug wiring, coil wiring, and alternator wiring. Also the brake booster hose for the master cylinder booster. I’ll post the engine pics when it’s totally together.

And a little work on the dash and interior. I wanted to add some aftermarket gauges, to monitor the big Hemi properly. Took the radio and heater off the dash as well. Also I removed the door GTS emblems, arm rests, and window cranks. After the interior is painted, I plan on adding the seat belt straps to the door panels to activate the door windows. All this as I fabricate a racing harness for the roll bar as well.

Removed all the GTS emblems, along with the front fender side marker lights. Deepened the panel lines, and added black accent color to them. Then a few coats of Tamiya primer.
-
The wheels and rear suspension parts. All these are from my parts bins except for the supplied ladder bars, which came with the resin floor pan.
-
The chassis I bought from SMH but to avoid headaches later on, like cleaning up the resin part, especially around the engine mounts, I decided to mate the PS part to the original kit supplied front.

Decided to move along and tackle another project sitting around. After I figured the rear suspension out, this one kinda sat around. Anyway, I don’t know who owns this car that gave me the inspiration to build this, but, in my opinion, is one of the nicest, cleanest, red, Hemi Darts I ever came across. I hope mine comes out pretty close to it, except mine will have different rims. I’ll be updating more as I move along, but this is where I am at right now. Here is a pic of the subject car.

That looks fantastic with the decals on it. Don’t get me wrong, you did an excellent job on the build, but the decals really did it justice. I just love the old S/S cars.

Dyno Don Maverick-1 Year Project-Finished!!
Brutalform replied to mustang1989's topic in Drag Racing
Wow... Joe, I can’t believe I missed this under glass. I haven’t been on the board lately. Your work on this build is absolutely beautiful. Well done my friend. -
Your last Maverick was a very cool project. I’ll be watching this one also. I have a mint Johan 70 Maverick Stock/ Funnycar, but I’d like to get another Maverick that is a bit more less expensive to build. The long time you put into the other car, definitely shows, and was well worth the effort.

Very nice car and subject. Your build represents the real car perfectly. I love those old S/S cars.

Thanks for the positive replies. I appreciate it.

Thanks Tim. It’s a pretty straight forward build. The front windshield isn’t the best fit, IMO. Really no glitches though. I think it’s a well engineered kit.

Finished up the very last two of my TBolts I had on the bench for a while. This one, and the Reynolds Ford car. All of my decals are finally depleted. You all might think I’m nuts building all of these TBolts, but a while back I was lucky enough to get a huge lot of TBolt parts. And after using decals I already had, plus buying some of Jack Smiths, believe it or not, I’m way ahead on the overall cost of all of these builds. I still have a couple sealed kits I’ll just hang onto. And a bunch of odd parts still.

Personally knowing several mail carriers, and after speaking with them, and the postal workers at the counters at a couple local offices, there seems to be two major problems. They all seem to blame the same things. One is the virus, as more people are now buying online more than ever. Also the virus affecting the health of workers. Some are short staffed over it, at a time where more people are needed. And the other problem is the postmaster general, DeJoy and the upper management not knowing anything about how to run the postal service. I waited over a month for a very valuable book that I’m grateful it arrived without damage. Usually when something sits, or gets tossed around at a post office for a month, has a good chance of being destroying the mail. I sure feel terrible for the people who rely on the postal service to get their medical supplies and medications. Bad enough there is a virus, but also dealing with incompetence at the top.

As another option, you can use Vallejo paint. Just carefully mask, and brush it on. The brush strokes level nicely, unlike the Tamiya acrylics, and if you make a mistake, it will wipe off with water before it dries. If you have a steady hand, you might be able to skip the masking. Just use the “air” version, so thinning with water isn’t necessary.

Ford 427 Hemi...This is just COOL!!!
Brutalform replied to Force's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another car with that M/T 427 Hemi https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MFVirSvJOC8 -
And my completed build. I did some extra details on the interior, with a harness, and scratch built AutoMeter tach. Had to make door windows, to apply the decals to. Hard to see the interior when it’s done. The wheels are resin pieces that I had that came closest to the real cars wheels. Decals are Top End ( Jack Smith).

This build has been sitting around for too long. I had a lot of it completed, but didn’t have time to get all of the sub assemblies together. Wanted to make it look like the real car as much as I could. I didn’t have all of the correct sponsor decals, so I just used what I had. It’s not exact but this is the way it will stay I suppose. First a few pics of the real car I was lucky enough to find. It’s a legit TBolt that runs low 9s these days, from what I’ve read.
