Another icon gone. Whitesnake videos, rock and roll lifestyle. No word on the cause of death.

My wife says the same thing. She noticed that the collection slowly grew over the last year. My problem is, I’ll see a model I want to build today, buy it, then it will sit there for a year. I guess they call that a procrastinator? But I am getting better. Sometimes I look online at kits, and say to myself, “why am I even looking... I have every kit I’d ever want, and I don’t have the room anymore”. But currently my carpal tunnel, and my back issues are keeping me away from building as much as I’d like to. I know I’ve said it before, but my goal is to finish the fifteen started protects I have now.

I’ve built many Ford Thunderbolts, and still have a couple in my stash. Other models I might only have two or three of the same kits. I’m to the point where I don’t have the room to store one more kit. So I can admit I’ve gotta a little out of control over the years.

Been away from the bench for a while. I have the time but sometimes certain ailments keep me from building as much as I’d like. Well, anyway I did accomplish some work on the Dart. Painted it Tamiya Italian Red, and waited over a month to lay down some Tamiya clear. After three days, I polished the body out, to remove some crud that got into the finish on the trunk and roof. I’m planning on adding foil tomorrow, and hopefully getting around to final assembly.

Wow. Your attention to the details are amazing. Lots of time in this build for sure.

Very nice, correct looking build. Removing the front side marker lights, black and gray primer, paid off. Looks just as delivered back in the day.

Great looking Maverick build. Nice color, and details.

Looking really good. I have to agree on being a favorite. I love all the big Galaxies.

Modelhaus prices on the Bay

If this is the same vendor, they also try to sell MCW kits for astronomical money, when you can just buy from MCW direct. That vendor also tries to sell “built” kits for $700. And they look horrible. Check out the foil on this 59 Ford... -
I totally understand. I was thinking about packing it in myself. But still would keep all my modeling supplies. Especially my old Johan kits. Im currently 55, and a back injury has me out of work for 5 years now, and now I’m disabled. Spinal stenosis is one thing, but I was still enjoying the hobby. Now I have an old right wrist injury that comes on like you wouldn’t believe. I have a non union scaphoid in my right wrist, and it has seriously made me stay away from the bench. I thought the back thing was bad enough, but now I can’t even use my hands as I wish, being dominant right handed. I’m not trying to complain or anything, because I understand there are a lot of people out there who have it worst than I do. I just try to keep my head up, and maybe mess around on good days. Still trying to decide if I want that bone in the wrist removed, and having the others fused together. I truly love the hobby, and sit around sometimes thinking of my 12 started projects, and getting excited about completing some of them, but the pain sometimes dictates what I can and can’t do.

Beautiful replica of Rondas TBolt. The front ends sits perfectly. Nice job!

Steve’s build are breath taking to say the least. I often find myself looking at his builds, especially the under hood details, to get ideas for my own builds. Where this guy is at, is where I eventually want to be as far as building goes. He was especially helpful to me, in the past, when I ran into some DupliColor painting issues as well. Great guy, that builds great models.

A big congratulations my friend, the hard work you put into every build paid off. The Olds, Fury, and Galaxie still blow my mind every time I look at them. -
Most Involved Part of Building?

Agree 200% on the wheels and tires, Snake. -
1961 Chevy Impala SS
Brutalform replied to coach4570's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If leaving the insert as bare plastic, at the very least I’d clear coat it. Down the road, the plastic might yellow a bit, and the clear will keep it white. Also, if you clear the rest of the car, it will match, and not have a satin finish. For this car, I masked around the insert, then painted it Tamiya Pure White. After it dried, then I masked off the insert, and sprayed the rest of the car Tamiya Italian Red. Added the SS decals last. Sorry for the clarity, but this is an old pic. -
Beautiful pets everyone. I can’t wait till our summer vacations or done so we can get another pup.

Not trying to hijack your thread Joe, but I finally won a Maverick builder on the bay. I also bought the Platt and Nicholson decals from Slixx. Your other Maverick build gave me an itch to do something like this. Just looking for a Mustang Shelby donor chassis now.

When I decided to build another, I bought quite a few super stock decals to build many cars, and finally ended up with 16 T Bolts. I understand some builders don’t like building the same cars over again, but hands down it’s my favorite race car of that era. Always being a GM guy in my own drag racing days, I learned more about these cars most recently just from info on this and other forums. Ford and Mopar are now my favorites. Just wondering how things would have turned out if Chevy never pulled the plug on their drag racing program?

So sorry Kyle. She was a nice old girl. It’s very hard coping with the loss of our fur babies. It does get better as time goes on. The sadness goes away a little every day. We are holding off for a new puppy as we have a Disney trip planned for January, and we don’t want to pawn a new pup off to be watched while we are gone. Don’t forget to give your pet a big loving hug and kiss everyone.

You would never think this picture was taken an hour before we had to put this poor old girl down. After twelve HAPPY years, (today would be her twelfth birthday) her little heart was swollen and along with her lungs, were filling with fluid. March 23 2021 was the day we said goodbye to her. The last nine days have been the absolute worst for us. No more pain for you...I love you Nala.

Rare Kits... prices.
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yea... the heck with that! I wouldn’t even set up a smaller account to use exclusively with eBay.. just on principle alone. -
One sweet looking Impala! The attention to details really paid off.

I’ve also noticed a decline in sellers on eBay, and when I looked that topic up on the eBay forums, they’re all pretty much sick of the way eBay is conducting their business as of late. I could be wrong, but lately, the items available to view seems to be declining. I remember when I would be scrolling forever, and now it seems that the scroll always comes to an abrupt end. I think the whole community has shrunk lately. -
Fantastic job on this Mustang, Scott. My favorite subject. Your build reminds me that I still have to build the Gas Ronda car yet.
