  1. Check it out. I found a video in Yahoo headlines about Michael Paul Smith, doing models and dioramas used to create spectacular photos. http://blog.flickr.net/en/2013/10/04/crafting-scenes-of-iconic-americana/
  2. Masking tape? That top looks pretty sweet! How in the world did you get it to contour that well?
  3. GIft cars? Sign me up! JK Casey
  4. above all else...start mine with a retina scanning lock.
  5. UPDATE Got a very nice response from Round 2 about my taillights. Too bad I couldn't find the receipt. Josh, how in the world could someone that rides motorcycles be called environmentally unconscious? I've never rode a dirt bike but, don't motorcycles usually get like a billion miles per gallon? What do they want you to do, go get one of those Razor electric dirt bikes from Walmart?
  6. That purple hearse...Is that.....Shadow from the Twisted Metal games? Oh if they make that into a movie. -It would be sooo cool.
  7. Hate to hear about the truck. Glad to see it's still driveable. More importantly, glad you are still here to tell about it. My wife hit a deer in the strangest way. She was going 45 miles and hour and somehow one of the antler tips just barely punctured the inside of the front driver side fenderwell. Without getting religious, well, you know. I just cant believe it didnt get its head jammed in the fender well and wreck her. Glad it didn't cause she was in a Trailblazer on a curvy road. Boy was that thing top heavy. Glad we got rid of it.
  8. Don't forget the many movies and games his works have inspired. I know that many people would rather read a book, which is certainly respectible. But this man has made many other contributions to popular culture as well...and has done it with inspiration from real life military personnel and events. Talk about giving back to your community.
  9. EDIT TO PREVIOUS POST OK, I am a moron for believing the person working the ticket booth. I just went to research where the other Star Cars museums are located. I found out that this is the only one. In fact, George Barris does own part of this business, that much was true. And I also found that most of the cars there really were used, at some point, in the associated tv shows or movies.
  10. So, how cool is it that you got a pic with him AND a replica of the car for which he is most famously recognized.
  11. I scared the heck out of my wife there. I made her go up the stairs first and made sure to goose her in the back a little when the lights came on. (You know what I mean by "the lights" )
  12. It's there from time to time. Like most, not the real tv cars. There are a few more Star Cars museums throughout the country.
  13. We apologize. We waive the white flag. Please call him off. No, really she's an embarassment to humanity.
  14. I found out a little tid bit of information a couple years ago. I dunno how many of you have visited the "Star Cars" museums, but, I have been to the one in Gattlinburg, TN a couple times. The last time I was there, I found out ole George owns part of that museum franchise. So, really there are a lot of non "Barris Cars" that technically are. But just by ownership. They have an Eleanor (67 GT500), multiple Fast and Furious cars, and many more that I am sure his hands never touched. It's still cool to see these reminders of tv and movies of the past.
  15. I saw one of these done similar in Morristown,TN a few years ago. It was owned by a member of an east coast mini truck club called Pebble Pushers.
  16. Widebody looking pretty good so far.
  17. I'm getting down to the end of this build of Round 2s AMT 62 Thunderbird reissue. I got everything together except the lights windows, and bumpers. Low and behold, I just now realize, there is no red light tree. None, nada, zip, zero! Cero Sombrero I'll be contacting Round 2 shortly. Edit Nevermind, after sending them a message at the url on the box, I discovered the missing parts form and realized my receipt got lost in the mix with all my wife's shopping receipts...can't catch a break today.
  18. Yeah, I was getting that Hannibal Lector vibe about the whole thing at first. It's kind of funny, I never got the Hannibal Lector vibe from the show NBC did based on him lol
  19. Anyone else watching this show? It seems to be one of the more promising new shows this fall. Heck, the most promising show NBC has came up with in a couple years as far as I am concerned. I just rewatched the first two episodes at nbc.com. There really are a lot of plot twists and it seems to be very smart and current. I guess the cool kids say "relavent" nowadays.
  20. You know, it's funny. Girls always fall for the boy band trap but, of all the boy "bands" I have been forced to sit through when my wife won't let me FF the dvr, I have NEVER watched a single member of those groups play an instrument. Wouldn't that make them, boy singers like that Beaver, Bieber, Beaver Cleaver, or whatever the kid's name is? (Side to self: Don't ever insult Leave It To Beaver like that again. Jerry Matthers might track me down and slap me silly!)
  21. Just make sure you are getting your Krylon Crystal Clear at a crafts store, not a department/hardware store. Two completely different formulas and the department/hardware store mixture is "hot" If you are not sure which to get, go to Walmart and write down the info and DO NOT purchase that one.
  22. I absolutely swear by Testors One Coat. The metallic may be a little big but, lets be honest, what are you gonna get in a metallic that isn't on a model kit. There honestly isn't much I can say here that hasn't been told. I just get far back enough so as to dust coat and go really fast with it. But I make sure not to go so far back as to leave that overspray film instead of a dusting of paint. I do that for about three layers within 10 minutes of each other, out in the sun. Then I wait about 20 and spray just enough of a SLIGHTLY wet coat to cover it. Afterward, I proceed with wet look clear. The decanting and airbrush method are viable as well. I haven't had time to assemble everything and try it but, I think my wife caught my air compressor on sale for $50 at Harbor Freight and I caught my airbrush there for like $9. So, all in all, a very cheap purchase. Testors also makes some Model Master paints (correct me if I am wrong on the line guys) that are lacquor and have no metallic. I used the Mango on a body dropped F250 with tons of body mods and gray Duplicolor primer with no issues. I just took this picture while working on it but, you get the idea. (actually decaling, hence the two raised spots)
  23. Dan, you have an interesting issue. Please don't think I am trying to threadjack here but, Charlie has an interesting solution and I would like to ask about it. Charlie, just wandering, do you ever have any issues with any detail getting lost that way? The reason I ask is, that seems like a lot of layers before paint. I may not be visualizing the whole thing with all the sanding but, this does seem like a viable solution to Dan's problem if no detail is lost.
