  1. See, I told ya'll they beat it to death in the woods and tried to rattle can it back. Opinions may vary and keep the world going round but, I like it.
  2. So, I've been here for a couple years and just recently posted my first "Under Glass" a few weeks ago with a Lime Ice and Appliance white 62 Impala. This will be my first "in progress" build to be posted here. I didn't have any white paper on hand and just have an iPod for pics so, excuse the crummy photos. As you can tell, it's gonna lay frame...no fancy bags or anything here. Just gonna keep it simple on this one...as I usually do. I relocated the kit's lowered control arms which gave me the frame laying stance on these die cast wheels from an old Astro Van. Not sure yet what I am going to do in the back. And for those wandering, yes, wheels do clear the hood and barely touch under the tops of the fenders...close enough to a "layed out" bagged truck. I have started working on body dropping the bed. I body dropped it to clear the rear wheels and will be putting the equivillent of a four wheel drive body lift under it to make the bed line up with the cab. In plain English, I'm just raising the bed floor for clearance...just like my 1:1 S10. And if you were wandering, yes, those bedsides are discarded credit cards. When you can't just run across town and get some Evergreen, you improvise. This is the grille I have been working on. I semi-wrecklessly sanded most of the grille out with a dremel and when I got close, I hand sanded and picked out chrome flakes with a toothpick. It still needs some cleanup and a painted bowtie...maybe some driving lights. I wanted to make sure I did the chrome bumper with the factory trim because I haven't seen anyone on here do that yet. Everyone either strips and paints or leaves it all chrome save for maybe some blackwash and the bowtie.
  3. All I am saying is that, if you are going to put a ball the size of a basketball on top of the rack in all the different styles, put a disclaimer out there that the balls that are actually sold are the size of a MINI basketball once they are blown up. I find it very difficult to tell my child no to a toy...and that's what the makers of that toy are doing. The manufacture knows the second that child sees the machine, they will have that package open and the ball half blown up before the parent realizes what's going on. They ALL have an issue out of the box. I must say, it sounds like I have personally offended you as a representative of Hobby Town. Trust me, there is no personal harm meant, and if it sounded that way, I apologize. And I still enjoy what I can get when I go to Hobby Town. There isn't a true hobby shop within an hour and a half of my house. I was simply pointing out a few flaws in a local store and being a bit nostaligic. That's all.
  4. I was at Hobby Town in Lexington, KY a few weeks ago. I have gone there on and off for years. They have NEVER had a clearance table. They would just as soon not sell a kit than put it on clearance. In the past few years, they have gone from three isles (both sides) full of model cars to one half isle with planes, tanks accessories on the other side. They have also added two toy isles, a die cast isle and a machine where kids blow up a ball. And get this, the display version of the ball is twice as big as the one the kids get. Once it's out of the pack, they already have you hustled...there's not even a disclaimer. Anyway, I had a conversation with the guy working there about how I remember the store "back in the day". He concludes our little trip down memory lane by saying, "They've took this place from a true hobby store and made it into a Toys 'R Us." And that's from the guy working the place!
  5. So, I have been reading where there is a security breech in the new ios. The new thing (which I cannot remember the name) where you slide up from the bottom, needs to be disabled on the lock screen. Otherwise people can access your photos and some other info and use your email or social media account to send it to themselves.
  6. And that's why I'm on Dish. The only channel I don't get in AT200, that I really want, is DIY. Although most of the shows are stupid, you can learn some pretty cool things on there. But we get a free preview of it like every couple months so, it's like a part time subscription. I work for a company that does cable support (no not Dish) and what irked me today was policy. We HAVE to troubleshoot with customers before sending a tech or replacing equipment. A very elderly woman broke her antique dishes trying to reset a modem after I told her she needed to. That's just wrong.
  7. Man, Im not usually a stock kinda guy but, this one sure is sharp!
  8. I actually like the weathering. Looks more like it was scratched to death in the woods than it does rotted by time. Some of the front to back even makes it like someone did a poor 1:1 effort with a rattle can to cover up some bad spots. Look at the side of the hood. Just like someone had taken some yellow spray can laying around and went front to back trying to repaint it.
  9. Maybe it's the lighting but, they look fully detailed like you worked hours on them!
  10. I agree on the statement about this being your car and painting it your way. But dang this thing would look sinister in black cherry.
  11. They do have some great kits. But when they get it wrong...boy do they ever!
  12. There were so many people downloading it right as it became available, I had to try it about five times. I also had to make sure all apps were closed as well.
  13. If you don't have pets or small children at your bench, get some of those Terro things. Cut one open and place it where the ants gather most. They eat it and take it back to the colony where it kills them all. Our kitchen somehow got suddenly swarmed with them last summer and it worked like a charm.
  14. How in the world did you do those headlights...and taillights? IMO, the taillight width looks spot on because of the lenses making up the difference.
  15. Came out great! What's the next one gonna be?
  16. I just downloaded ios 7 to my iphone as the full public version just became available. There are a couple things I don't like visually. But I sure do like the new functionalities!
  17. I think it's cool that everyone's warning points aren't public. That would be like standing in the corner in a dunce (SP) hat.
  18. Arnaldo, the car looks great. And I definitely think no grille. Or at most cut the center out and just use the surround, Eugene, trust me when I say this. Masking the entire car is a whole lot worse than BMFing it.
  19. Looks like a big ol can of Diet Dew. Nice work. Try running a yellow sharpie over some regular BMF and see if you can get the gold tone you want. It works on chrome trees so, I don't know why it wouldn't work on BMF.
  20. I bought Nissan Skyline R32 taillights for my S10.. Got the set with housings for $100. There wasn't a scratch on them. I am pretty sure it was in 2001.
  21. I prefer Firefox. It simply works best for me. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have no problem. But Browsers aren't so important to me as the fact that I despise tool bars and tabs with a passion and will run anything that doesn't have them all over the place.
  22. This thing is so cool that I can't even say what I want to on here. It's bad to the bone. One thing I might suggest if you aren't final on the doors. If you truely want Lambos and can't order hinges, maybe you could make a Revell "Uptown" set work. I'm sure plenty of members have those left over from converting to stock. Myself, I do think your stock configuration or suicide doors would both look great.
  23. even better
  24. That's a pretty valiant effort for your first BMF!
  25. Now that is a superb 62! new Zealander switZerland RaZorbacks...seems logical to me.
