55 Chevy Slameo-DONE!
Skydime replied to slammedi'am's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I got my popcorn ready! This is going to be a good one. I've been wanting to do this same build with a 58 nose forever. Please keep us posted with lots of pics. -
I got one...keep up the good work on it! You must of been doing your homework around here. I have builds that don't look half that good sometimes...and I've been building over 30 years!
-
I love 70 Chevelles. There used to be a red and black one parked and abandoned behind my neighbor's house when I was little. Silver really looks good on yours. If the kit had bad chrome, you sure did a good job hiding it!
-
That thing would just be intimidating to see roll up next to ya at a red light!
-
That reminds me of some of the cars that used to run around here when I was a kid. I remember fat tires like that picking up rocks and cracking a few windshields. Great memories! Thanks for sharing with us.
-
Well, I think I just re-evaluated my whole building process. Great looking 62 ya got there!
-
I really like this one. Usually, I'm on board with the theory of not blacking panel lines. But I think it works with the over all theme on this one. Sharp ride!
-
Glad I did post it now...I just noticed I need to make some adjustments on the grille.

OK, so not one of my best builds...and surely not the best pictures. (They were taken with an iphone) But I figured, what the heck. I'm gonna make it my first under glass. As stated 62 Impala Revell California wheels edition. It is box stock except for parts box wheels, tires, and a little suspension manipulation. Negative Camber on the front end is intentional. Paint is Duplicolor appliance white and Testors lime ice with one shot wet look clear. I intentionally ditched the badging on the car. I probably should have used foil instead of silver on this one but, despite the crappy pics, the green really shines and I didn't want to take away from it. Like I said, not my best and horrible photography but, here goes. I may take more, and better pics later and post them up.

Poor Man's Reventon
Skydime replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Larry, you forgot the 10 foot tall shopping cart wing. -
This is really cool. You did a great job. Being a previous owner of a 94, lemme suggest not putting a cd changer in there. Some people didn't have the problem but, those cars were notorious for the glovebox popping open at rr crossings and potholes. It would be about as realisticly sound as a straight axle through the engine block on a 1:1 . I had to put my changer under the passenger seat. The owner's manual or something would be cool in there just for the full visual affect.

Is there any way to fix old rattle cans?
Skydime replied to clovis's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Don't quote me (or do anything stupid based upon my analysis) but, it looks like Pete's contraption is similar a lobbed off piston rod end with a screw thread tapped into it. Pretty neat! -
: How To Build Homicide Doors For Your Scale Model
Skydime replied to lonewolf01's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I'm pretty sure that means when someone tries to shove someone like me (300 pounds) into a 4 door Civic with Lambo doors. In all seriousness, neat tip for anyone wanting to build sliding doors. Don't know if I would use the term "homicide" but, still good tip. I just hope that guy figures out that with about a six scale inch body drop, he's gonna have to make some accommodations like scale trailer tubs for the wheels if he puts anything major on it. -

Trashed firebird getting a makeover--- 1994 camaro build
Skydime replied to xbazzarex's topic in WIP: Model Cars
My wife does this sometimes and I have to flip the pictures when storing to the computer. Just flip your ipad 180 degrees when taking pics...problem solved. BTW, I like the car but, did I miss the 94 Camaro somewhere? -
A great tree house

Looks more like it's sitting behind the RHD front passenger seat to me. -
Cool Chevelle! I really like the color scheme here. I never have any luck out of that one particular color but, yours looks sharp. I foil on a budget too, and I know it can be a pain this way. You really did a nice application with what you had to work with. I look forward to more of your builds.

The 50 greatest TV&movie cars?
Skydime replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Knowing Yahoo, it's a wonder they didn't just list the 50 cars in the Nick Cage version of Gone in 60 Seconds. http://moviemiscellany.com/2011/07/the-50-stolen-cars-from-gone-in-60-seconds-2000/ There, I did it for them. -

I really like the mods you have done on this one so far. It certainly takes it in a completely opposite direction. If you are doing a full on custom like this, I couldn't agree more about ditching the factory bumper. I always thought it was a disturbing eye sore. Guess that disturbing factor is really just a small part of picking the entire car for Christine. Here is the one I had been recently working on... just for a reference of what they look like in paint without the original bumper. Please excuse the shoddy photography. -
1980 VW Pick - Up

Absolutely amazing! And is that a cassette tape on the dash? I've seen a lot of interior accessories but, don't ever remember a cassette in a build.
