My dad had a real 77 Chevette. It was red outside and I think gray and black inside IIRC. I thought that thing was so cool when I was a kid.

Revell, lets see a kit of this
Skydime replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I get that people do stupid things that ten foot wings and stupid ridiculous sounding exhausts. But there is certainly nothing wrong with a nice set of wheels and a high quality stereo. (And by that I mean really clean sounding). Mine is an 04 with the ecotec motor and I find that it is a very practical and dependable car. But I do understand the sentiment and where the original post was rooted. I can see putting this much money into a car but, not wasting it in the manner of this 626, -

Sure they would. It would be one of those they deem "unpimpable" and start all over with something new. Then they would chop his fingers off so he couldn't do it again. -

Hey don't diss us Cavalier guys. At least most of us know our car would look stupid with a chop top. Just playin'. I had to say something on that one cause I got one. -

Facepalm! I am now officially ashamed to be a mini truck/sport compact enthusiast. Well, at least I am ashamed this guy is one of us. -

Michaels 50% Coupon Or so I thought
Skydime replied to Mustangmania24's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
If it doesn't say it specifically on the coupon, then it's false advertisement. Inform the manager you intend to take it up with the Better Business Bureau. -
Emissions test part II
Skydime replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cool cars, the most well known car custom shop in Kentucky, is located in Louisville, Jefferson County. Just so happened someone decided they should be the only county to have emissions tests as well. Coincidence? At least it ain't Bowling Green! -

That's when I use my coupon on paint or something else I really need. That really cuts the price of a can of Testors One Coat fast! -
Coversion kits of the 90's-00's
Skydime replied to mnwildpunk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey now, don't be hatin' on the Truxarossa kits. LOL. I remember the ones for S10s (not Blazers) were the only ones that were made different. Now those were ugly! I always thought the combo of big wide body kit and little tiny wheels of the era were kind of an oxymoron in itself. -
Oh you are absolutely right about being able to peel it off! It dries ridiculously clear, doesn't give the "clouding" of the white glue, and you can peel it like a sunburn if you need. I use empty shallow cans to pour glue from the tube/bottle into and use a toothpick to apply. I barely raked my fingernail across the surface of one that dried and it peeled right back where I pulled but, didn't volunteer to go anywhere in the places I didn't want to try to remove it. Another great thing I forgot to emphasize strongly was that $3.00 price tag for 5 ounces. I mean heck, a container of window glue is what, $6-7 now? (I haven't bought it in years) For what you pay for one of those tiny things, you can get tons more of this.

I just wanted to pass on a product that I have found to work the best for me on windows and light lenses. It is Elmer's Washable Clear School Glue. I like this glue because it tends to go on in a more consistant fashion than the white glue of old. It also seems to tack to the parts quicker...which was one of my biggest gripes with the white glue. I hate when the carpet monster eats a clear part that fell off before it dries. This product costs about $3.00 for a 5 oz bottle at Walmart. Well, sorry about the incoherent babbling. Just thought someone might be interested in trying it. I will try to take pictures the next time I use it.

55 chevy [ GRIMMIS ]
Skydime replied to bpletcher55's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Amazing! It has a list of mods way too long to mention and they all work great together. And correct me if I am wrong but, I am guessing the name of the truck is a McDonald's reference...being that Grimace is purple and all. -
Round 2 Purchases Lindberg/Hawk
Skydime replied to Art Anderson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I dunno. I just wish there was a bigger selection of modern trucks....and these "Uptown" wheels are starting to add up from kits I've built without them. -
Kevin, do a Google web search as well as picture search. You will find all kinds of conflicting information on whether it has a stripe at a certain point or if there are two separate cars. There is a modified designed car without the stripe and the original concept drawing at http://www.purevisiondesign.com/rides/projects/hammer.html shows it with the stripe. The car did not have it at SEMA, or in Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift or Fast and Furious. Also, www.autoblog.com shows it selling through Barrett Jackson with no stripe here http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/27/barrett-jackson-oc-10-1970-plymouth-roadrunner-hammer-has-fa/ . Edit...Well, aparently, from Barrett Jackson's website, there is only ONE Hammer and it has had a stripe on the side at one point. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/application/onlinesubmission/lotdetails.aspx?ln=362&aid=343 . I don't have decal paper or anything close to these decals so, I will be building without. No matter because I don't really care for the graphics on the car anyway.

Hmm, wander if mine does that? Maybe it does or doesn't. Edit...Nope...writing after a smiley works on mine. -

Skydime replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yeah, I think it was last night or the night before my computer would just say "waiting for www.modelcarsmag.com" and wouldn't go to the site. I am still having issues posting when including an attachment. -
Round 2 Purchases Lindberg/Hawk
Skydime replied to Art Anderson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hope they rerelease the kits like the S10 and Nissan Hardbody along with much of the other content they have now aquired from Lindberg. Those two kits alone are WAY over priced on EVILBAY from what I've seen them go for. -
I would imagine one of two things caused this. First off, I know that Chrysler made room in their SEMA booth for this car as soon as they heard about it being built. They may have added the stripe later on, as an afterthought...or just didn't have it 100% for SEMA. However, I have also heard mention, on several sites, of both a 70 Roadrunner and 70 Satellite being referred to as "The Hammer". It made me question the existance of two separate cars bearing the same name.

Here is mine...just some random Beetle off the internet. My little girl likes Beetles and so do I.

Can't cut BMF nice and even?
Skydime replied to Johnt671's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
And while you are there, don't forget the new pack of #11 blades. I can't stress how important a new blade is if you don't want to ruin your foil and paint. An old blade can get jagged and tear the foil or "hop" as you drag it along. -
Two beautiful Ferraris. I love the clean blue look on the Testarossa.

OK, so I have seen multiple pictures of this car with and without the side stripe and "Hemi" lettering. So, does anyone know if there were two versions or what the deal is? Also, if anyone knows what kit may have the correct mirrors for this car, please let me know. The ones in the Monogram 70 Roadrunner don't seem to be anything near what I need. I may just go with something close.
