  1. So, what you are saying is, we're one step closer to Mr Fusion...no? Completely unrelated to that response---> Even though I think it's wrong as can be, I've got to say...at least they don't blow their smoke straight into the window of my car or mini truck. I hate it when a jacked up truck has its exhaust at window level!
  2. At least you had the guts to try weathering and know what it is going to take to get the results you want next time. I'm sure most of us have made failed attempts at new modifications. We just learn to either do it or that it's something beyond our current skill level and go on to the next thing. You are always going to be your biggest critic. That's natural. Just learn from what you see wrong and don't be afraid to ask anyone for suggestions or tips. This site can be your best friend and educational tool! I don't really know what's so bad about this. I see some very good basic building skills here as well. Don't get discouraged if something isn't perfect the first time. That exhaust looks well used and at home on a truck like this. You did an excellent weathering job on it. If you are going for the look of buying a beater and restoring it, I'd say you have done pretty good for yourself.
  3. I've never read the book. But from what I understand, she was a custom ordered Fury with Belvadere colors. However, I also read somewhere on here that the book is confusing because it refers to this same car as both a two door and a four door. The movie just rolls with the idea that she was a custom ordered two door Fury. I actually think I remember seeing the gold trim and whit(ish) paint on all the other cars on the assembly line at the beginning of the movie. It's been a couple years since I have watched it last.
  4. I really don't understand these trucks like this. To each his own, I guess. I've seen them around for almost 10 years now. Of coarse, that probably means they date back around 20 or more.
  5. The 80's series Mask. All the characters had armored and heavily armored vehicles along with masks that they wore that did special functions. If this helps jog the memory, the leader of the good guys was a guy named Matt Tracker, who drove an 80's Camaro that flew and was named Thunderhawk.
  6. Sorry for the confusion. I meant that all of the parts contained in the AMT 58 Belvedere kit will be in the Christine kit. It is supposed to be a direct repop of the original. I also wouldn't be surprised if it were rebilled as a 58 Plymouth Fury to match the intention of the movie. The corrections comment refers to the incorrect roofline and the infamously crooked side trim that takes a nasty hook right in the middle.
  7. Now there's a good way to answer. Thats a really decent stash there Mike!
  8. That's along the lines I am thinking. I will be bringing the entire junkyard of cars home soon and there is a stepside Silverado of the same bodystyle in the bunch.
  9. Nice build...And from what I understand, Round 2 is going to re-release this kit with all parts and without corrections. It will be billed as Christine and will have movie related pictures on the box. However, I just don't see the point in paying the extra for the copywrite loyalties or whatever they are called.
  10. Has anyone used the Chezoom chassis as a direct swap to another build? Or does anyone know of a close or direct swap for it? I just found my Chezoom with a ton of my old models that I built when I still lived with my parents. The car is a little worse for wear but, the chassis is in great condition and I think I would like to reuse it.
  11. Lookin' pretty good on the finished product their Mike! I see from your earlier comment that the bug is already biting with a Superbird on the way. Glad to see you enjoying the hobby.
  12. Redesigned Holden UTE it is! It's the Pontiac G8 sport truck. No worries about it ever hitting the street since it is a Pontiac...and since we are getting the SS version of the Caprice instead of the Chevelle, I don't ever see it being released as an El Camino.
  13. Wow! That thing has some clean work. The frame welds look amazingly solid even though I know they have to be ground and smoothed. But I'd be scared to death to drive one with that much bodywork without a solid structure in the bed. Is this thing trailered or a daily dragger?
  14. Could be a Java issue too if the site uses Java.
  15. He put a late 70s/early 80s throw back Buick/Pontiac grille in it and made it cool. Dang Harry. You got some cool work! I need to check that section of the forum out more often. I really like the "line of fire" style taillight on the car in the logo. I never really thought of that on a Merc before.
  16. Charlie is right. GM needs to be taking some serious notes on this one! They built a Saleen Camaro out of a GTO so, why not a Chevelle out of a Camaro. I would love to see someone with the money take a similar idea to West Coast Customs for a 1:1. You know they would take on the challenge. After this one, have you thought about resin casting it? If you did, you could make another and make the trunk area into a mini bed to turn it into an El Camino. You could also make another with a vinyl top option. Gee, there are all kinds of good ideas this build can inspire or be modified into.
  17. I noticed that Motormax has police, fire, and civilian versions...all with and without LEDs.
  18. My friend, I have only been marrried four years. And if I have learned ANYTHING, it is that "shopping" is thrown into EVERYTHING when you are married. So, Dave, make sure to be ready to be used as a coat hanger on a regular basis lol.
  19. From the last set of pics, looks like you have cut out some fender wells and gotten some more drop out of it...lookin good!
  20. Yeah, I think I would stick with plain gloss on this build as well. There are always polishing kits to polish out the body but, I personally love the Wet Look One Coat Clear...and you can always polish it as well if you would like. I think it gives a build a deeper shine. I recently purchased a Revell 70s Corvette in orange plastic. It had no visible sink marks, swirls, or mold lines in the body. I liked the color so, I just shot it with the Wet Look Clear and did the trim work. It turned out excellent! BTW, the pm was pretty detailed but, to break it down. AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's are your three biggest retailers (that I know of) in Barboursville/Huntington. Basically, it boils down to get Hobby Lobby and Michael's Apps if you have a smart phone and bookmark the AC Moore website. If you don't have a smartphone, just print out multiple weekly coupons, take them to the store with you, and check out a couple different times through different checkout lines so you can use more than one coupon per trip. You can usually save 40-50% on any one regular priced item with coupon. Also, don't forget to check out Ollie's to see if they have new kits and get Duplicolor paint for less than a dollar a can. I think they even have some big cans for about $2.
  21. A parade float would be awesome! I agree with the Chik-fil-A comment.
  22. Yeah, a lotta people remove chrome with it. Others use oven cleaner. I like glass cleaner like Windex because I always have some and it usually works quickly.
  23. Thats a loaded question mike. My suggestion is to get some white plastic spoons. Test your paints on these and let them dry or "gas out" for a couple days. Worse come to worse, if it doesnt work out, they sell the big rattle cans of rustoleum black laquor at paintsville and louisa walmart now and you can shoot that under the one coat clear. Btw, did you get my pm?
  24. Wow! I never really guessed so many of us were here. It's amazing how a world wide site could have so many people from the same state. BTW, whichever admin moved this, thanks...never realized there was a "Where's Waldo" section. Thats pretty funny.
  25. I resolve to get this ECTO 1A that I am converting into a hearse done...FINALLY. The rear corner windows haven't been measure twice, cut once. They have been fill with sheet plastic once, putty and sand 10 times to get it right. HAHA Otherwise, I am hoping to get started on a project that makes it on here as my first under Pickups On the Workbench. I just have a real problem with the motivation to take a lot of pictures because I don't really have anywhere inside to make a photobooth.
