hey tyler, only updates with pics are above. i need to have it done for saturday, so i work more than take pics at the moment. i still have quit a bit to go, so i hope it goes smoothly. so far, i have put wire on the dizzy, had to switch the alternator from passenger side to drivers side, figured out the exhaust piping. need to make an oil filter, coil, plumbing for the fuel and water, a battery, couple of wires here and there, some painting, put the engine in and "bottle ship" style the carbs and hosing, a bit more weathering and it should be done. doesn't sound like much, but with the time i get to work on this, it's like crunch time for me.

yeah, not too bad for your first. i remember doing those 24hr builds as a kid as well. good times. happy mini motoring.

i'm gonna have to agree with these clowns..lols the fun part of this hobby is part hunting in the jungle of the carpet. with that box, there is no fun involved.. looks like you have it under control. looking forward to what you can do. just take your time. you'll get it.

Bashing People on here

all you need to do is take it up with whom you used to pay for your items. IE, paypal. you can file a complaint through them and they can handle it. the seller will take it seriously when they see that the money will be taken from them. same with credit cards. i have been lucky to have dealt with some good sites/sellers. but i also take in mind that most of these guys are not full time casters and need time to get stuff done. if i have a problem, i just email them until i get a response. thats all thats needed. no need to come/go on a forum and let it out. 3 years brotha, there something not right there. -
66 VW Beetle by Tamiya
LAone replied to cherokeered's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i used a muffler tip intended for a ferrari of some sort, i dont recall at the moment, for the stinger. they were made by mr model. but others like detail master or model factory hiro should have them as well. historic racing miniatures has a carb set that will work. heres a link its the 8th part down on the list at the bottom of the page. http://www.islandcollectibles.net/prod022211.htm -

so heres what i have been up to lately. so last night im over at my friends house. i see out of the corner of my eye some sort of compressor. so i asked him what it was and he said its his ooooolllldddd (he's 50 yo) airbrush compressor. he was cleaning out his stuff and found it. first thing he said was "do you want it?" i was heck yeah! turned it on and it works. only down side is that it doesn't have an on/off switch. only a power plug. no biggie. so i had bought some metalizers brass last weekend, i broke out the airbrush and i gotta say, stuff is great. heres the color compared to a brass hammer i have. im having some issues with the engine and exhaust..ill have to reconfigure the set up.

Bottled Flat Aluiminum Paint - Suggestions?
LAone replied to larrygre's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i too agree with stirring instead of shaking. i use a piece of stainless steel welding rod to stir paints up or a scrap piece of sprue. making sure to grab all the paint on the bottom of the bottle. i have a bottle of tamiya flat aluminum, i have had it for, shoot 11 years now(brush paint only) and it still mixes great and i don't find it too be grainy if stirred every couple of minutes. and yes thats 11 years, the bottle has a price tag of 1.99 with a date of 05 00. they were restocking it when i walked in. -

hey bud, the only thing i can see you getting are resin carbs and some porsche fuchs wheels. everything else is mostly scratch built or kit bashed. -

great looking rat. i like the idea of the bomber seats.
-
wow guys, these are fantastic builds. nice detailing and paint jobs. i like how each one has the color matched tow rigs. way cool

thanks guys zuki: i made the drop vent on the hood. i dont think any kit comes with it already. only the car boutique ae86 by aoshima comes with a type of drop vent. m.stoneman has a build going on with the car boutique hood. doubled: i used tamiya 2 part epoxy putty. mostly shaped them out and a lot of sanding. i can take a pic of the chassis if you like. i just didn't take one cause theres not much going on there.

thank you everyone. i appreciate the compliment. as for the deck lid, it needs some work. i tried to make it look like the 50's style deck, but then the paint didn't come out good. i stripped it, but the brake fluid ate up the putty work. didn't know it would do that. so its in the parts box waiting to get redone.

thanks bud. edited the description.
