It also depicts the rounded '95/'96 C pillar windows, whereas the kit is a '94 with the triangular ones.

Yeah the U.S. MSRP is $62, which is a break from the past several kits (MX-5, FXX-K, etc) that were a reasonable distance away from the Japanese price when you took shipping into consideration. Heck when the NSX came out and the dollar was weak to the Yen it was actually cheaper to buy it off the local kit vendor for $40, than it was to buy and ship it from Japan. Looks like they went back to the 100% markup on this one again.

North America and Europe are supposed to get them on the 20th. Japan & Asia get them in November. The one month lag is now standard fare for Tamiya after their affiliate companies (Tamiya Europe & Tamiya USA) whined to the home office that they're losing too many sales to the direct importers.

Plus weren't one or more of the late 70s/early 80s MPC Volaré annuals a "Road Runner" trim package?

I'd believe in the early 80s when the kit was done, MPC would have held the Warner Bros license because of the tie in to Dukes of Hazzard and Daisy's '74.

That one's a little tricky as it seems like it shouldn't be as expensive as they sell for, but the tooling was modified to make the GTX, so unless Revell were going to back date the kit to it's origins, there's only so many of those left in the world.

Other than some race cars that may or may not make it out before the end of 2017 from Beemax and Belkits, no. Nothing I can talk about publicly anyways (not to sound like one of those "insider" people). But Revell should announce it's 1Q 2018 stuff in a month or so, and then Revell AG announces on New Years Day.

The Modelers Preview For 2018
niteowl7710 replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The NiSMO 370Z was released today, and is promptly sold out. HLJ changed it's listing to "Discontinued" without filling everyone's pre-orders. Time will tell if they meant to change it to "Backordered" and someone threw the wrong coding switch as the '15 WRX STi kit is still available. The Honda S660 Alpha is the next kit up, just opened for pre-orders today as well, expecting delivery in November. 1999 & HLJ both carry Modeler's, if you want it order it early, or face the prospect of overpaying for it on the secondary market later. -
CA Glue Brand Preference

x whatever number we're up to for the Loctite Gel Control. It doesn't go bad, and it's much easier to well...control. -
What's In The Box , BMW M6 GT3 ROWE Racing , NuNu Models
niteowl7710 replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
NuNu and Platz are two entirely separate companies. One based in Hong Kong, the other in Japan, again Platz is just the Japanese distributor for this kit - along with any further ones as the box does say "Race Car Series No. 1" on the end cap which to me touts there would be a No. 2 and so on. Perhaps they'll update the body to the Evo ground effects the 2018 car is going to get. Also it's not Fujimi quality, it's Beemax quality since they're the ones that actually did the kit itself - all of the parts runners are stamped "Macau 2017" on them, along with them piggy-backing Beemax's BMW licensing, which itself was the cause of about 4 or 5 months of the delay involved in getting the kit out. The one thing I've noticed now that I've had a chance to go through the kit is that unless you have the P/E set you don't have any of the front fender canards, tow straps, or driver safety netting. There are no kit parts that represent the P/E pieces other than the wipers (and the molded on slam locks on the body). Getting the front canards on, considering the microscopic amount of P/E you have at the bend point to attach to a perfectly smooth body (there are no divots or anything since there are no kit parts of them) is going to be tantamount to defusing a nuclear warhead in a bad action flick, as they'll have to go on after the kit is completely painted and assembled. The Carbon Fiber is a bright silver which might look O.K. on the chassis pan itself, but is wildly brighter than the C/F used on the rest of the car. All three sheets of decals have the same exact C/F pattern in the same color. Although if nothing else they'd make good templates for replacement, or just dousing them in Tamiya Smoke once installed to tone the color down will probably work as well. -

Seems like Revell has started to go to the NNL in Atlanta instead. It's right around the time they'd be announcing the 1Q 2018 stuff anyways.

That's cause we said HobbyEASY out of Hong Kong, not 1999.

I did add the Detail Up Set, and mine still shipped. I have 2 more kits & P/E sets on order at HLJ as well. Patto's Decals has 6 or 8 liveries already done for the M6, but I've never worked with his stuff before.

Model Factory Hiro discontinuing 1/24?
niteowl7710 replied to aurfalien's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
MFH stopped making 1/24 stuff with any regularity back in 2013. Since then there have been a handful of things done, usually one subject matter per year. The most recent is a Ferrari 330 LM back in March. Then you have to go back to the end of 2016 when they did a couple of Lancia Super Deltas, end of 2015 when they did 4 versions of the Lancia 037, and the Spring and Fall of 2014 when they did several variations of the Porsche 917K. -
Mine is about 20 miles from my house tangled in the USPS mess they usually make before a Federal Holiday. Guess I gotta wait til Tuesday. HobbyEasy has their kits in already, since the 28th actually. As for Chinese vendors, NuNu Hobby is based in H.K., so they're selling their own product there, Platz is just the Japanese distributor. Similar to the way Aoshima distributes Beemax, but you can get Beemax kits from Macau/H.K. 2-3 weeks earlier via in-country vendors

Revell '57 Chevy Convertible.
niteowl7710 replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well saying we need a modern tool '57 Nomad is more of a fact than whining. Besides I think everyone already did concentrate on what this kit could be way back 5 years ago when it came out. This is a bit of a zombie thread. -
I have a U.S. case (a regular case of these is like 38 of them) on order.

Most boutique resin kits out of Japan are very limited production. This is also the first time Scale Model Creators has been carried by a "major" vendor that has sold their product outside of Japan. Usually if you want their stuff you have to catch it when they put it up on Yahoo! Japan Auctions which is sort their home market equivalent to eBay - which itself requires using an English language proxy bidding service. The casting itself is very nice, on par with a Hobby Design or Plamoz type of quality. The registration on the decals is kind of weak, but all the emblems are also on the P/E fret.

Odd EBay question?
niteowl7710 replied to RancheroSteve's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Give the Magical 8 Ball answer - Results unclear, ask again later. It's pretty hard to ask a question on the wrong auction unless you're perhaps not totally sober. -
Belkits Opel Manta 400. Test Shots
niteowl7710 replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
He's got the new Polo kits for about $5 less than anyone in Europe has them priced for as well. EDIT - I posted M&S as the solution before John did, and yet my post doesn't exist. Guess the forum isn't quite as fixed as first thought. -
Well if you can afford several $140 resin transkits, more power to ya I guess. One was enough for me http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10483201

Fujimi Ferrari 288 GTO Variants?
niteowl7710 replied to Dodge Driver's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
At least with the Dinos it's easy to tell the kits apart. The Curbside kits have 114, and 86 parts for the Coupe and Spyder respectively while the EM based kits - which confusingly also got packaged in the Real Sports line have well over 200 parts and the box art for the Ferrari kits have shown the piece count for the past decade or so.
