  1. The First Amendment says the GOVERNMENT is not allowed to infringe on your Right to Free Speech, not that you get to make racist statements on a privately owned message board.
  2. Current issue of Motor Trend has a speculation write up about the 2015 Mustang (with some pretty realistic photoshopping of the current car with what they think it will look like in 2015) that says the SVO name could come back with a 250+HP EcoBoost turbo-charged 4 cylinder.
  3. I know a lot of people frown on it calling it "sniping", but that shill bidding nonsense is why I don't bid on things until the last few hours (not minutes) of any listing. But then I treat eBay like a regular live auction. I'm not going to be the first one to bid, and I have a predetermined amount I'm willing to bid. If someone wants it more than me, so be it. eBay is not the same place as it used to be 10 years ago, but it's still pretty much the only place to go for some OOP kits, unless you want to haunt shows & swap meets hoping someone finally has decided to start liquidating parts of their collection.
  4. Nah in broad daylight, just the wife and kids weren't home. If my wife was a more sociable person with the neighbors I'd be in big trouble
  5. I just set them up there to take a picture of them, I took them in the house as soon as I got home. Can't be leaving that much stuff in my wife's car and still be alive to talk about it the next day.

  10. Not using it as an excuse to curse, but I knew all the words by the time I was 7, and I went to a private Catholic school, and my parents were the wash your mouth out with soap kind of people who never cursed in front of me. So all those precious children around here can probably curse a company of Marines under the table.
  11. It's even more identical to the 1:25 2010 Shelby Mustang GT500 that's coming out in the next month or so
  12. Under a bright yellow paint like that I would have used a white primer. You might wind up with something more orange than yellow.
  13. I have to believe this is true, as the normal Hobby Lobby I visit in Laredo, TX went from both sides to one in the two weeks between my visits. But they did add a lot of new tools that they didn't have before, so it's sorta a wash I guess. I did notice that all the import car stuff (Trumpeter ALF, Aoshima & Tamiya kits) evaporated, and weren't in the clearance section either.
  14. I'll be there, be sorta silly if I weren't, it being all of 11 miles from me.
  15. It's Never Forget, because plenty of people would prefer to just the opposite. Go out and read the comment sections to any news story surrounding the anniversary and you're going to see plenty of wing-nuts out there complaining about everyone making a big deal out of the anniversary, and saying things like "Why can't people just let it go". That doesn't even go into the people who think September 11th was an inside job. I believe Never Forgot was also modified from the Law Enforcement/Fire Fighter Memorial mantra of "Gone, but not forgotten". Which I suppose is appropriate considering how many members of FDNY, NYPD, and PAPD made the ultimate sacrifice that day and are still losing a handful of members each year as the after effects of working in that toxic environment at the Trade Center Site continue to be seen. Andy are you really saying you wouldn't fly because of what happened on 9/11? If you don't like/want to fly in general, then fine I can respect that opinion, a lot of people, my wife included don't like the idea of flying. However if it's REALLY all about 9/11, you might as well outfit your parent's basement for the long haul then because these people have blown up trains, subways, buses, cars, trucks, and of course that always popular dude walking on the street with a bomb strapped to him.
  16. What I am getting out of this is "I didn't win, and that's not fair". Perhaps that's not being fair to your overall experience at the show, but in reality your sorta talking out both sides of your mouth. On one hand you're saying you're not the best builder, and other may be better, but on the other your claiming the judging criteria was unfair because no one saw your chassis and your ultra-competitive. This is similar to claiming your sports team didn't win because of a bad call by the ref. If the difference between you placing and not, was all on the bottom of your model then the rest of your model was not up to snuff on this day. Yes all of the work and effort you placed into the chassis wasn't counted, but neither was anyone else's. If anything, basic standardized judging levels the playing field entirely. Especially at an IPMS event where there usually isn't a box stock/OOB class. All the bells, whistles and ge-gaws don't matter when it's all about how well you cover the basic building techniques. I attended the Sharon IPMS show referenced earlier in this thread for a number of years in the 1990's and placed and/or won my class on several occasions, and on more occasions I walked away with nothing but that sinking feeling when you name isn't called. Does that mean some years the judging wasn't as fair as it was in the years I placed? Just between you, me and the lamppost no matter how competitive you are, you can never, ever, under any circumstances enter a model contest with the expectation of winning anything. If you do, more often than not you're not going to be happy with the judging criteria and will burn out on the experience of going to shows at all.
  17. According to Moebius' FB page the boat is supposed to dock in the morning chocked full 'o Hudsons. So they're here...they're just not HERE (as in your LHS) yet.
  18. The thing about Pennsylvania is that all those pretty hills means that water is coming down out of them in some fashion. I spent much of the day during Hurricane Ivan's arrival standing in a downpour first bailing out a below elevation window well (which threatened to blow out the window and start dumping water directly into my basement - water was already squirting past the edges of the casement where it met the wall) and then digging a run-off channel down the side of my house so the water would flow into the already flooded front section of my yard. The normally 3 foot wide, 7 foot deep drainage creek that runs the front of my property turned into a 15 foot wide "river" that flowed through everyone's front/back yards along the street, my driveway had just enough elevation to be mostly out of the flow. Afterwards we all wondered how the old man-made stocked pond that's about 300 yards up a hill diagonally above my house didn't escape it's earthen confines since it's outflow pipe is only about 6 inches in diameter and water was shooting out of it like a wide open fire hydrant. In the end everything but my lower back was spared from damage, but a lot of people in and around Pittsburgh weren't so lucky. So here's hoping everything works out for you Bill, hope you had an extra inch or two of elevation and your sump pump put up a valiant effort. May the most emotionally devastating thing be dealing with your insurance company for new basement HVAC equipment.
  19. The kit is RHD only.
  20. iHobby is about a month or so...let the speculation get turned up to "rampant"
  21. Most U.S. cars have a "Flash-to-Pass" bright light "switch" built into the turn signal stalk these days. Came around about the time that manufacturers stopped putting a dimmer switch on the floor beside the dead pedal. Usually pushing it forward turns the brights on full time, but pulling back will turn them on until you release it...so you just pump it backwards a few times to flash your brights repeatedly. But then most people state-side use that feature to warn traffic that there are cops ahead. One thing I have noticed anyone mention is that several of the drivers in this story were teenagers. Where the hell did they get these cars from? Maybe it comes from not being filthy rich, but if I ever did get enough cash to buy one of those cars my kids wouldn't even be allowed to look at it, let alone drive it anywhere.
  22. September's releases have already been announced, and the Camaro was not among them. This month's Revell releases are the '48 Ford Custom and the reissue of the '59 Impala Convertible. (along with a lot of airplanes). The wait continues...
  23. Ya know there's an old Richard Jeni (Rest in Peace) bit that went something to the effect that everyone needs a English tails-wearing butler in their closet who could leap out at the last second and yell "MIIIIIIIIIIIIIISTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE" before you do something with disastrous results... We'll play it as it lies because it's your sandbox, but I don't see how turning this forum into a series of giant vacuum bubble is helpful in the long run...
  24. Monty for the record the last paragraph was a generalization of this entire thread, not directly to you personally. I figured that would be fairly obvious since there were no "you's or your's" involved. So while you might travel and rent a lot, I would gamble that most people here (the 95%) don't. If everyone were traveling and renting, the rental car business wouldn't be in so much trouble. I also happen to own a full-size, 4 door, RWD vehicle, and being that it has "Interceptor" in it's model name I would describe it as very zippy thank you. Anyway I have to go find my ADHD medication amongt all these Red Bull cans so I can go play more WoW. I almost have my elf knight mage shaman up to Level 100. Pretty soon I'll be uber l33t. W00T!
