  1. I like it! I agree, nice rack (!) and stance. I had a '63 for years-wish I still had it-even with those oil leaks!
  2. Nicely Done! Clever too.
  3. Very cool! George Jetson's Fairlane.
  4. Reminds me of the Dale: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twentieth_Century_Motor_Car_Corporation
  5. Wow! This is great!
  6. Beautifully done Danny! That door with the hand marks is perfect! Great block wall too.
  7. I have also done hand sketches and cardboard or foamcore mock-ups. The mock-ups are a great way to judge just how big its going to be as well as what the viewing/photo angles will be. On my latest "bookend" diorama I did a concept in 3D software (Solidworks). But I also did a quick full sized mock-up too.
  8. 1/4" scale (1/48) 1/2" scale (1/24) Old gas stations and garages are favorites of mine. Route 66 subjects work for me too. I'm currently doing a small piece of an old auto court in 1/16th scale.
  9. Basswood is a finegrained wood that is similar in color to balsa, but is not as soft. It is used a lot in woodcarving too. A good source for fractional sizes and sheets is Midwest products. If you use water based paints or stains it can warp and raise the grain. Oil based products should work fine, but always do some testing.
  10. My Dad got me started when I was 8 or so. Forty some odd years later we are both still at it. He recently added bare metal foil to the bumper of an HO scale truck. Hope I can still do that at 86.
  11. I like 'em both! Good job.
  12. That came out vey nice Harry! Its an unusual and interesting subject.
  13. Spectacular work. Nice way to see what the real thing looked like inside. Also makes me wonder how those planes could get shot up and still work.
  14. Wow! I just happened across this one...excellent! I like the subject of a newer style lathe. This will be a perfect parking spot for your beautiful builds. I will stay tuned!
  15. The materials I have have had printed so far have been similar to a hard resin, but quite brittle. Some sanding is required to smooth out the layer lines from printing. I have used ACC and epoxy for assembly. Paint can be lacquer, enamel or acrylic (the parts can be cleaned in Acetone). Currently I think the most cost-effective use for these parts in our hobby is for making masters for casting, but I used the printed parts directly for this 1/24th scale lubester. (the tie rods are brass wire, some things just can't be printed yet).
  16. I like those resin busses! Tom, you have built some wonderful models. I too can remember the jarring rides and hard seats!
  17. Years ago I remember seeing the STP indy cars out at Ontario Motor Speedway. They were so much brighter day-glo red than any TV or print mag showed. Must be the same with this green.
  18. Nicely done Jim!
  19. They probably forgot to carry the one. I least I hope so!
  20. Beautiful build! Kudos for all those decals too. That has to be some finicky work getting them all in place.
  21. That is looking fantastic! Excellent crafting on all of it.
  22. I'm glad to catch up with this one again. Quite incredible.
  23. Nice work on that diorama Richard! Thanks all for the nice words! I can't get enough of the things you guys are posting here. I wish I had a fraction the fabrication skills in plastic and metal shown here. Some great imagination skills too!
