  1. Engine is ready to go into the frame… And is in the frame…
  2. The frame is mostly painted and almost ready to have sub-assemblies built on to it. The front fork/wheel assembly is ready to be installed; the rotors received a final dry brushing of silver to lighten them up more consistent with the graphite I was going for. The rear swing arm is ready for installation… The engine is coming along but needs more paint work and building…
  3. Drilled out the front rotors, 174 holes if I counted correctly. Painted the chain and other components, did some assembly...
  4. Yeah, another Hot Wheels… The casting’s name is ”Mad Props”. The checker and lettering decals were custom made, the checkered flame and stripe decals are off my sheet.

  6. Yes, you have no idea! I have been wishing for one for years, decades! This is the car my Dad used to drive to Revell in the late 60's-early 70's. Bought it back and revived it for our grocery getter... Note the 14 inch rims and "classic" but original hub caps... That's the way it looked when I sold it a year ago.
  7. It's the NR 500 "Oval Piston" street bike derived from the Honda race machine. The custom aspects will be mild and based on actual feasible mechanicals. I don't need comments to share... But thanks for 'em just the same guys.
  8. A light scribing as you describe works well to make a line to paint a sharp edge to, for example around a heater core housing, but going too deep can make it look heavy handed. Sorry, no photos handy to share visually.
  9. More decals and some painting… and some sub-assemblies. Front fairing now has driving and HID headlights. Mesh grille was replaced with a coarser pattern. Gauge cluster is ready for installation… Seat is done and installed, same mesh used here too. Inner rear fender was textured, BMF for the fasteners.

  11. I have that set too, nice to see it being built, I wondered how they could look. I like what you did with the racer, can't wait to see how you address the LeSabre.
  12. Is it solvent based cement, or CA? If it is solvent based, yes, as mentioned sanding and polishing is the way to go. But if it is CA you can use some debonder to remove the cement, then polish out where the debonder has dulled the plastic. Either way, it costs almost nothing to fix, and the time it takes to repair is less than the time it takes to go to the store to buy a replacement kit.
  13. Not that my shop is anywhere near sterile, but since the dog and cats left us we have had a huge increase in spider population this year. They are everywhere, but the little flying gnats tend to be the critters that get into my paint jobs.

  15. I like the plate, and the fact you kept to the 7 character limit. Clever choice. I like the flamage too. And good heat stain work on the exhaust...

  17. Actually it is not just the loudness to the ear of the exhaust. My Camaro is corked up tight and not very loud decibel wise, but it has a good amount of cam and that low frequency rumble does set off alarms.
  18. The kit decals had been water damaged, but I was able to soak most of them off the paper and use them. Sometimes it took almost an hour for them to release, with a little prodding. The base color is a gray I mixed with Testors enamels. The C/F and Honda decals are from the kit. Some of the decals were just too well ingrained with the paper and unusable, but fortunately I had a partial sheet that contained those most of those elements. Interestingly the color was different between the sheets, but that worked to my advantage since I am going for a semi-distressed/used look. The Kevlar decals are from Studio 27. After the composite material decals were applied I tinted them, (and the gray), by airbrushing Smoke to accentuate some of the shapes and recesses. The chrome fasteners are BMF, except for the ones on the fuel filler, just hand painted silver for them…

  23. Some custom decals, some from my sheet… Testors Guards Red. 1/68th scale.
  24. It came out nice. Clean job. Old super glue can be weak and brittle. For delicate mirrors I often drill a small hole in the mirror post and a matching hole where it attaches to the car. Then glue a pin or piece of wire into the hole in the mirror. Makes a positive mount and it easier to install in a lot of cases. It might still be doable on this one even though it is finished...
