  1. Nicely done! A very clean build.
  2. Love the Gremlins. Just finishing up a stock build.
  3. Thanks! Sorry about the info. Flintstone resin body. AMT '51 Chevy for the chassis, interior and trim. Parts box engine. Revell Parts Pac Poniac headers. Don't know about the front springs and axle.
  4. Cool! I need one...
  5. Thanks for the comments! Not many modelers "out of the closet" here on the "moon" as my area would be considered
  6. or...Gas station hack...
  7. Gave it to my Nephew to finish. Went back to planes. Got clients pushing me to finish some projects. Guess he needs a video game or something. I give him stuff to sell, trade, whatever. Oh well...I'll get interested in another car soon. Got several almost finished. Thanks for the encouragement though!
  8. OK. Window tint. Nothing more than taping off the front...then building up layers of Testors Clear Transparent Blue. on the inside. Got some Transparent Red for another build. Tape the front...spray the back.
  9. Haven't done a car in over a year. Been busy building 1/48 aircraft for clients. Needed a break. Lost over 30 years worth of spare car parts in a house fire. Hundreds of engines, intakes, headers, and most of all, tires. Gone. Still found enough parts to do this project. It's stayed pretty close to my original intention. '70's flavor. Not too involved. Spray bomb paint. Original concept was a Hilborn fuel injected small block. Then, dual carbed 409. Settled on small block shown. Wanted to keep it mid '70's style. Kit engine with AMT '64 Chevelle station wagon valve covers. Cragers from the Johan AMX. Had a nice set of ladder bars...but the cats only know where they are at! Made the "Grumpy Lump" from sheet plastic. Looks like the grill is going to need a dark wash . Hope you like the direction.
  10. Had this old Lindberg about 75% finished years ago. Pulled it out to finish and the chrome had gone bad. Must be pretty common for these kits, as 2 more have done the same thing. Screwed up the paint on the front cap trying to remove the spears and couldn't remember the paint mix. Decided to do it as an old car that had been wrecked, then put back on the street with a replacement front cap and "hot rodded". Dropped in the AMT '56 Y block. Home made sheet metal hood scoop. Reversed the front spindles to get a little lift. Put exhaust cut-outs and glass packs. Radiused wheel wells. Un polished Americans. Dirtied everything up a bit. Still got a bunch of small things to finish up. Just an old low buck street/drag car from around mid 60's.
  11. Factory is a tough look to get. This one looks right!
  12. I must confess. First, and foremost, I am an aircraft modeler. I do commission work, and sell on Ebay. I built cars as a kid (’70‘s) , and have continued to acquire kits for some 35 years. Some 350 kits at last count. I have started autos every year, and sometimes finished 3 or 4, with the majority going back into the box. Then, around the first of Sept. this year I completely burnt out on aircraft and quit. Dragged out model car kits and started looking through them. Tinkered around with some, applying many of the “learned aircraft techniques“. Then I found Model Cars Mag. Though not by any standards what I have seen here, I have been inspired by the quality and variety on this site, ( Thanks to the owners, administrators, and members!) and am starting to enjoy building autos again. All of my auto builds go/have gone to my Daughter to sell on her Ebay account. She can then take the money and spend it on my Grandsons, or whatever. I just enjoy the build...but I also have my “keeper stash†put back. Just for me. Anyway, enough long wind...hope you enjoy the few I have actually finished since Sept. Revell Pickup. First "weathering" attempt. MPC "American Graffiti" Coupe. Got this when the movie came out. All I could find these years later was the body. Used the "Switchers" frame. Everything else "Frankensteined" from the parts boxes. '40 Ford. Second attempt at weathering. This one ended with stock wheels and a dirty flathead as a "beater". '64 "Color Me Gone"...with the color gone, and the AMT Roadrunner hemi. A couple of local guy raced one of these when I was a teen. It had a 392 and a "push button" trans.
  13. Meguiars Mirror Glaze #10. The grey bottle. It's clear plastic polish. Sold at automotive parts stores. Old watch repair Dude around here swears by it.
  14. Yep...primered was the only way to get a solid color "paint job" Down South back in my day of hot roddin'.
  15. This one's lookin' "right"! I have that body/fenders trial fitted on a AMT Vicky to build and early gasser. Used the MPC frame for the chopped coupe. Anyway, the engine looks to be from the Revell '56 Ford pickup. It has the same outline, and the exact same valve covers in chrome. Don't know about the intake.
  16. Indeed the Flintsone body. Not a bad one to work with for the price. Got several, plus a '51 Chevy SD. '53 Ford SD. Wheel/tire combo are Revell Willys...sometimes found on Ebay on the cheap from people who only use the body, then sell the rest of the parts.
  17. Thanks. Wheels and tires are from the Revell "Big John" '41 Willys gasser. Just shot them with a mixed matte/gloss clear to get the polished aluminum look.
  18. Dug these two outa' the stash this weekend. '40 coupe body had been primed/blacked long ago, rear fenders simulated fiberglass, running boards removed, and given up parts for other builds. Plan called for AMT blown Pontiac. Then I found the '39 Ford Olds engine and tacked on the Revell Anglia injector setup. Rear is a Mopar. Don't know from what kit. Front is from the Revell '30 Ford. Gonna be a "found" 60's Gasser in the process of being restored to "Nostalgis Gas" standards. '56 Delivery has been around for a couple of years. First plan was a Pro Street. Then thought about some old service station "Rat". Ended up going "Gas" since it already had a chopped top. Planned a AMT '57 Ford injected Y block. After I got the body preped I kinda' hate to clutter up the body lines with injector tubes. May go with the AMT 'Shelby Mustang wedge with the high rise, and the dual carb setup from the '60 Starliner. Plain or teardrop hood. Color? Haven't decided. Maybe leave it primered with a little weathering. Big John front springs/tires/wheels. Some old funny car front axle with no drop. Seems a little high. May look for a dropped axle. Gotta raise the rear about 3 scale inches over the slicks. Anyway...if ya' got suggestions, fire away.
  19. Rural Florence, Alabama, 'bout 2 hours away. Memphis is one of my "party" towns.
  20. That is awesome!
