Thanks! The Phonix was made of varnished plywood fuselage, with doped linen wings. For camo, they "sponged" dark brown paint all over. I used a base coat of Testors Modern Desert Tan (33722) , then a soft brush with watered down Americana Dk brown craft paint for the "daubing". Finish is Valspar Flat, from a rattle can. Thanks!

Gotta be. That's what I noticed about the 1/1 pic. The wheels looked like they had a "dish" to them I thought it might be the angle, but the more I looked they looked like center lines with a dish to them.

I rarely click the NASCAR link, but something told me to tonight. All I can say is ...Wow... Those cars blew me away. I'll be checking in more often.

'58 Ford Custom 300 for me. You already have the chassis/engine from your '57. Just tool up the body, interior, and chrome trim (of which there is not much. I do believe it would be a seller. Each time I try and bag one on eVIL Bay, the bidding gets intense. Then, follow up with Ranch wagon, and a Ranchero! And if you want to roll the dice one more time...A Sedan Delivery would be nice. I promise I will purchase multiple copies of each. Start off with the "Plain Jane" Then you could give me both of THESE. I promise to buy multiple copies of all 3 Just give me the kits, and I will do the rest... Thank You. Man...somebody get the Chick off the car!

Bought it as a "late" DXII. which it is, Jasta 32, but it also had the major parts to do an "Early". The Late was just going into my stash, for a later build. Did not feel like masking and air brushing 5 colors any time soon. When I saw the Early parts ,I went with it. The Early was in doped silver/gray. One color, Masked it off and rattle canned the tail. As I didn't have the Early decals for the same color scheme , same Jasta 77b, I just changed the production number into one from a batch that would put it in to the transition range to the "Late". In short, it's a "generic" Jasta 77b machine.

I am a modeler. Have been since the age of 6. Thanks to a Grandmother who would buy a sickly kid a model and some glue every time I had to miss school. Built at least 1 of every category there is. Cars. Big Rigs. Planes. Tanks. Helicopters. Figures...and even a ship! I haven't posted that many builds here, but what I have has been warmly received, and I Thank You. But that is not the reason I'm here. You see, I live on the "Moon" when It comes to knowing many other fellow modelers in my area. No clubs. No interaction. Nuthin' But, THEY are here. I see them every time I go to Hobby Lobby. All ages. So, what THIS place means to me is the "club" I don't have here. I can see works of art. I can get ideas. I can gain info on the ins and outs of newer kits. I can see works of novices who are just getting into this hobby, and it thrills me that there are still younger people who show interest in creating something with their own hands instead of sitting in front of a screen playing "Blow Up the Earth Pt 7" When I see a build, no matter how "good" it is, I see someone with a "vision". Sitting at their bench, desk, even the kitchen table...maybe a "cold one" sitting there. Coke. Relaxin' Paint,,brushes...Xacto...and all the tools they have accumulated. Imagination. Lost in what they'er building. Thoughts. Anticipation. Seeing in their minds what this build will turn out too be. That feeling when you do the last detail, then step back and see your "work of art". When I look at a "work" , I see the builders who posted, no matter what their level of skill, ..losing parts. Broken parts. The paint job that went to...well, you know the word. Opening the box and realizing that the all enticing "Box Art" was SATAN when the contents were revealed. So I'm just saying...everybody has free will. If you don't like something...walk away. Or, hang around and maybe you will find out you really didn't "don't like something" like you thought? After all, "you don't know what tastes like, unless you TRY it"... -
WW1 aircraft are my "addiction". They comprise probably 85% of my builds. For myself, commissions , and EvilBay. The other percentage is WW2 aircraft, '50's to '80's jets, and 1/25 autos. I learned a long time ago, that no matter how excited I got as the build progressed, the paint, decals, and weathering , and the model started taking on "life", at some point there would be....rigging! I have built almost every type of fighter aircraft that fought in the "Great War". All scales. Lately I had been trying to stick to simpler types with little rigging, such as Fokker Dr.I and D.VII, unless it was a new subject/kit to come on the market. It is a Special Hobby kit. 1/48. Some of the most detailed kits ever. Plastic, resin and photo etch. Every detail, line, etc. crisp. This one was the "Bathsheba" to my "David" when I ordered it. I must have been DRUNK at the time. Don't get me wrong, it was a "high" building it...until now. RIGGING!!!! This thing is more "wired" than Angus Young! Invisible polyester sewing thread. So tiny tweezers can't hold it...almost. The length of thread I cut falls off the desk... and is gone forever (remember.."invisible"...) Anyway, I'm on the downhill run...now. Only 8 more wires to pull! So, forgive the long "rant"...I'm off to my nightly xanax, and maybe a rum-n-coke on the rocks...

'61 Impala. 2 door Hard Top. Dad bought one new. Remember cool nights, with the windows rolled down. Little Brother and I would lay in the back....one in the seat, and the other on the "hat rack' / rear window. Best sleep you could get. I've owned 3 since then. '69 Mustang 428 SCJ. Guy from Hohenwald, TN was dating a girl I grew up with. Every week end he came down, we would exchange cars. I had a '67 Impala SS (HUGE back seat...LOL!) They would go on a "date"...while I cruised the local strip in the "Stang. First car I ever drove that would roast the tires with little effort. I literally "roasted" a Polyglass GT down to the "glass" one night...challenging other cars. Embarrassing flat. Had to loosen the motor mounts and jack the engine up to change plugs. We finally figured out to pull the front tires off, and drill circular holes in the fender wells opposite where the plugs went. Insurance cost more than the car. That "Shaker" scoop sticking up through the hood sure was "Kool" though. '71 Buick GS 455. "Grandma' " comfort...with "muscle". Had one in '90. Liked to guzzle gas. Nova's. '62 - '72. Owned many. 'Nuff said!

Most of the time...back in the Day...a vehicle that looked good! BUT cost you 3 times as much as ah' Chevy to build...to make it perform! 327's romped Mopar 383's...regularly.... Bahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Love 'em....though.... Road Runners LOOKED good.
