looking for oold model kit
ra7c7er replied to BobCook's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Might want to try the wanted section if you are looking to trade for one. If you are looking to buy evil bay has a few 58's convertables. here is the most reasonable one http://cgi.ebay.com/Monogram-854280-58-Thunderbird-Convertible-2N1-/250775438883?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a63618623 -

ra7c7er replied to 1320wayne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks. Just goes to show you can put all those extra parts in a kit and still have it reasonably priced. -
Lindberg Charger police car kits
ra7c7er replied to 1320wayne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Does the kit make 8 complete individual lightbars? or do they just have enough parts to make any one of the 8? -
Have you painted others? Who was this one for?

You could try some of the slot car tire guys. Many of them you can send tires to be replicated and the tires will be silicon or faux rubber. I am surprised more modelers don't use the same stuff since it is cheaper than resin.

I wondered that too.

Latest AZ Highway Patrol Vehicles
ra7c7er replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Back when I was street racing a local departments officer, in a police truck, tried to pull me over for speeding. Needless to say it didn't take long for me to loose him. He never even got close enough to get my license plate. The next day I sent the department and officer a letter that just said "REALLY" and a signed photo of my car. I guess they got the last laugh though I couldn't drive through that town for a year without getting pulled over. I like police trucks they make me smile. Maybe in 6 years Lindberg will release these. -
Bring on the updates. This is going to be one cool build.

So who is going to be the first to do Trevor's car in model form?

Looks like everything came out great. I can't wait to pick one up. -
Awesome helmet. I used to get my racing helmets custom painted but they never looked as cool as that.

Ace Hardware store sale
ra7c7er replied to wisdonm's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We used to have a Ace that sold models but they quit carrying them when they switched owners. The other two Ace stores used to carry models into the early 90's but quit then. I was told that they used to be big into hobby stuff. Since Ace stores are franchises the owners can choose some what what to carry hobby stuff is one of the optional things. -
I don't want to get totally off topic because Trevor's win was pretty historic but I have to ask. Since ALL three Daytona race winners were non-points drivers do you think the new points system works? Personally I think they should just limit each driver to a set number of out of series races or just not allow it at all. Anyone who watched the races saw barely there crowd for the truck and Nationwide races. Do high profile drivers really help all that much like Nascar claims?

Rat Rod or not?
ra7c7er replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't really care either way EVERY type of show car classification started with younger guys not wanting to do what their parents/old folks did before. So what the new trend is "rat rods" the next trend mind be Priuses or anything. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong or they don't care. Honestly I know several young guys that are building "rat rods" and their reasoning is building something different and unique something that goes against the establishment and you know what EVERY show car builder when they were young said the same thing about the cars they were designing and building. So knock them if you want but they are putting something new out there and without new stuff every car show would be 20 different takes on 57 chevy and 32 ford and nothing else. I personally don't have an opinion either way some are cool looking some look like ###### but I can say that about show car 57 chevys, 32 fords, and customs and every other class of show car too. -
ALMS...lost another one
ra7c7er replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
SCCA is only like FIA in the fact that they are both sanctioning bodies otherwise they are nothing alike. -
In all honestly you probably won't like the beginning it makes Road and Track seem fun and interesting. But it is neat to the old cars.

I've started a Model Building Blog.
ra7c7er replied to DRG's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
Nice. Always nice to see someone put their models out there. I look forward to reading often. -
The question is are they going to break their rule about only getting points in one series. This is the typical thing that causes Nascar to become wishy washy. Just like they have done consistently with lowering and raising racers ages.

I was going to write the same thing. I have seen him race before though. He really is a great driver very good sense for the car and racing in general. Also congrats to the Wood Brothers. It's great to see them back in victory lane.

ALMS...lost another one
ra7c7er replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I used to be in front of the tv every weekend as a kid. I even missed little league baseball games just to watch. I understand Nascar is a business and pushing the competitors out of tv deals is all business but Nascar does not support the sport of racing they just support themselves. Don't forget about the SCORE and SODA races that used to be on ESPN and TNN. ESPN even used to show swamp buggy racing and in the winter snow racing and all sorts of small time stuff.
