The trailer and car are good the truck leaves something to be desired. I would like to get my hands on a few more of the cars but i don't want the truck and I have two trailers already.

opel blitz in north america?
ra7c7er replied to noname's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I don't know if any made it back a working trucks but I have been to several museums with them on display. The museum at Fort Knox has one. -
Dr. Cranky this might be exactly what you are talking about. I get those little craft bags from Micheal's or Hobby Lobby and then number the bag. I use a spreadsheet on the computer to list everything. It works great and only takes a few minutes at the end of a build. It can get tedious if you get a lot of partial kits at once but when that happens I just do one or two kits a day and it gets done. The spreadsheet is indexed so I can search for specific parts or brand or scale or any combination. I can even search by part number which comes in handy when people post they are looking for part XX from XX kit but don't know the name of a part. I keep refining the process to make it faster and use less bags when I first started I put everything in separate bags now it is grouped (i.e dash, steering wheel, steering shaft, shifter, e-brake will all be in the same bag instead of separate). The last update to the inventory shows the color the parts are molded in. Like I said inventory and warehousing work has me OCD when it comes to stuff like this. I have a master plan to start a website where people will be able to search my parts and get parts they need for oop kits and custom builds but that is probably years down the road. I told my girlfriend when I get 1,000,000 parts in the inventory I will start the website. Right now it has 7,692 parts.

This weekend went to a local Flea Market. I picked-up more than I wanted to admit to my girlfriend but since she is at work right now I can get it inside and hide it before she gets here. I really did go a bit overboard but I just got my first paycheck from my new job (was out of work for over a year) and I splurged a little. I thought the seats were cool and for a few bucks i thought it was worth it. I have already gotten my monies worth in fun just playing with the seats. The fun of ADHD. I would like to know who made it. I put together a Revell 65 Impala a couple months ago and it looks nothing like this car. All that does not include the kits that I re-sold while trying to walk out of the place. It was pretty interesting people followed me out to my car just to see what all I got and to try and buy some. I didn't keep track of what I resold but it was at least 8 kits. After selling the diecasts from the 2 Amigo packs and what I resold in models I came home with 37 kits and a built up for only $87.50. That's a per model cost of $2.30.

Internet access being limited?
ra7c7er replied to Draggon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just to let you guys know that is EVERYTHING that goes through your internet connection. Have kid with a Xbox, PS3, or Wii everything they do on the internet will add to your total. Have an instant watch Netflix account every movie or tv show you watch will add to it. Work from home everything you download from your employer will add to your total. I don't think that very many people will go over but you will probably be surprised at how much you use. This whole thing was supposed to be used to get more money out of large businesses that use lots of bandwidth but even Comcast and ATT are saying the get/will get roughly 10-20%% of residential accounts with overage bills. Just like the banks starting to charge $5 atm fees this is just another way for the big corporations to get more money from you. Want to know the best part about this. The providers went to congress before they started doing this. Just make sure they had all their ducks in a row so the didn't get in trouble. They told congress if they start charging for exceeding bandwidth they would be able to lower base account prices (some lobbyists claimed base account prices would go down as much as 75%). Well guess what they LIED base account prices still keep going up and now they are getting even more from us. -
Bashing People on here
ra7c7er replied to spkgibson's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think the board has gotten better. From what I have seen in my time, in just the last couple months it has gotten worse. Just look at the amount of closed threads we have had in the last couple weeks alone. To me the posters who are causing the commotion need to be booted not just closing the threads. A lot of the bashing on many of the threads throughout the whole forum come from the same "like-minded I'm better than you" guys. Just because you are a good builder and have won awards and have been featured in mags doesn't give you the right to bash anyone. It just means you build plastic cars well. So the other guy doesn't use BMF or has a different opinion about the hobby than you or likes a different type of car than you. Some people just seem jump to bashing and attacking really quickly and it is never dealt with. I had a issue with a resin vendor who actively posts here. A part arrived broken and he still after three months swears it must have happened in shipping. Yep USPS shook my box so hard it broke. Then they opened the box and attempted to GLUE the part back together. Yep that's what they did. I didn't come here to bash them I sent him and email and he won't correct the issue. So I just tell everyone I know what he did to me. I might be one negative out of dozens of positives but people should be able to hear both sides. It's one thing to say this is screwed up and he won't fix it and another thing completely to bash the guy. One should be allowed and the other not. -
Bizzare Race Car thread

I second the somebody needs to build the Ivo hauler comment. One of you scratch builders get on it. -
The term Donk FIRST started with old Impalas. The term has evolved since then. Sorry but I am not wrong. The rap culture has changed the meaning of the term immensely.

I remember those Sundays. One of the best custom shops in St. Louis is in the worst neighborhood in the St. Louis. Their is also a really good one where I used to go in East St. Louis.

late 70s convertibles
ra7c7er replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Their is a collector market for everything. If you want a 76-??? in convertible form you are going to be looking at a aftermarket conversion. I think they would be just as wanted as anything else from that era and rarer too. -
Jordan hit it right. But again many in the Donk culture (around here at least) wouldn't call the pictured car a bubble because it maintains stock ride height. It's a pretty common this amongst all car guys you know the "Yeah it might be a ______ but it's not a true _____" fill in the blank with any car show term and I am sure you have all heard an argument about it.
-
Donks are not slammed. They are not just cars with giant wheels. Well they are but to be classified as a Donk the ride height has to be raised because of the oversized wheels. Big wheels and slamming the car is not a Donk. If you want to see some great Donk examples stop by my house on a trip through the St. Louis area and I can take you for a tour through East St. Louis to see some. Don't worry you probably won't get shot if you don't get out of the car. Also if you look up the wiki for Donk don't pay attention to the pic of the caprice. I don't know any Donk enthusiast that would ever call that a Donk and hardly any of them would call it a "bubble"

That's a great looking model.

Assemble the minions!!!

They would be awesome on a diorama or even driving a car. I could see them in something like the Fireball 500. -
Bizzare Race Car thread
ra7c7er replied to seeker589's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is their a website for this car? I would like to learn more about it. --- this thread won't even make it to 10 pages if people don't stop talking about the removed threads. -
All of those are great builds. They are incredibly popular because it is something new to build. This kit right here just goes to show that builders do want to see new things on the shelves and not same stuff over and over.
-
Just don't roll it I guess. Wouldn't want to anyway looking as nice that that.

Bizzare Race Car thread
ra7c7er replied to seeker589's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was thinking the same thing. they are all bizarre cars. -
Really cool. Better than my first builds. Paint is great too. Question though, did the roll cage come like that out of the kit? Seems to be really low.

Bizzare Race Car thread
ra7c7er replied to seeker589's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Their was a Datsun 510 station wagon that raced in the Purestock class at the local dirt track. I am trying to find a picture of it that won't cost me money. -
Michaels Clearence
ra7c7er replied to RickRollerLT1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here but the guys getting the stuff here are not builders it's a show dealer snapping it all up. The same guy also bought ALL 27 Stevens International releases Tuesday Morning got back in December. Saw him at a local flea Market last weekend selling the Stevens stuff for $40-$75 and Hobby Lobby and Michaels stuff for $25 with the clearance stickers still on the Hobby Lobby stuff. Guy is a total jerk too. I have heard so many bad things about him from people in my area.
