  1. Didn't Revell make a Jaguar XJ220? That would fit the bill and they can be found cheap at model shows.
  2. You large scale guys will want to read this. I stopped at a garage sale in the rain last weekend and I picked up a model kit they had (AMT Star Wars Snow Speeder, I thought my nephew would like it). When I took the model up to pay the home owner told me they had a ton of other models in the house. After I went and looked this is what I came out with. I filled my girlfriends car floor to roof so full you couldn't see out the back or the passenger side window. I even had models sitting on the dashboard. Luckily the sale was only a few miles from my house. This is what I got: Large Scale Testors Jaguar E Type Die Cast Model Minicraft 1928 Mercedes Benz SS Sonder Kabriolet AMT 57 Chevy Bel Air convertible Entex Honda CB 750 F Revell '82 Firebird Revell Ferrari 512 BB Boxer Berlinetta Entex Rolls Royce Phantom III AMT 57 Chevy Nomad Monogram 65 Corvette Stingray Monogram Kenworth W-900 Conventional Revell 34 Rolls Royce Phantom II Continental MPC 57 Corvette Stingray MPC Cobra 427 MPC 10th Anniversary Firebird AMT 64.5 Mustang MPC Corvette Indy Pace Car Revell Koenig Twin Turbo Testarossa ROG VW Karmann Ghia Academy 39 Jaguar SS100 AMT 57 Ford Thunderbird HT/Convertable Revell Shelby GT-350 Mustang Heller Citroen DS19 MPC 63 Corvette Stingray Bandai Bugatti Royale Type 41 Monogram 79 Firebird Monogram 85 Corvette Coupe Monogram 82 Corvette Coupe other stuff Pyro Duelling Pistols Pyro Lambretta Motor Scooter Aurora 1911 Buick Model 14 Life Like Peacemaker "45" Aurora Stutz Bearcat Minicraft Yamaha 650 Revell Yamaha 350 Monogram Ducenberg SJ Nakamura Mercedes Benz C111 Testors Miss Budweiser Pyro Navy "36" Jo-Han Chrysler turbine car So far everything has been complete except for the Monogram Firebird which is missing the chassis and maybe a little bit more. I still have close to 20 large scale models not listed. My girlfriend FLIPPED OUT when i brought this stuff home so I took some of it to my parents house. I know I have about 15 other Tamiya and Entex Motorcycles, a Pocher kit (lambo I think), and a few other Monogram and Revell kits. This price I paid for everything.... All the money in my wallet... $271 for 66 kits and I would have gotten more had I had a bigger car. Oh I almost forgot I spent three nights sleeping on the couch also.
  3. This is really cool. I don't think I will ever be able to model something like that. Did you do it just from imagination or did you have some crashed reference photos?
  4. I have a Monogram 1/8th scale '82 Corvette Coupe and on the box it says it comes with Turtle Wax brand plastic model kit wax. The little packet is still in the box and it got me wondering if the wax was ever actually a real product or just a gimmick for the kit. So the question is; Was Turtle Wax plastic model kit wax ever a real commercial product?
  5. I like it. Great model.
  6. COOL COOL COOL COOL. What model did you start off with or did you scratch build everything?
  7. It is goofy. It's really strange to think that it is cheaper to ship all this stuff half way around the world a couple times rather than get it all made in one place.
  8. I don't know the economics behind it but I really wish Revell USA would adopt the identifying parts tags or ANY of the American companies would print the parts trees.
  9. I want to go but I can't justify the cost to get there. Anyone near me want to give me a ride?
  10. Looks really cool. What color is it exactly? It looks pink to me but could also just be the light.
  11. Same here I see them all the time at model shows I even have some Shabo stuff I bought for a lot less than 47 bucks. - Their are other sources for tire markings Slixx makes great waterslides and I have also seen the guy on ebay. I think his are copies of the Shabo stuff.

First off welcome to the site. Second the Under glass section is for posting your completed builds NOT for posting help topics. Anyway here is a quick how to to post up your photos. Click the incert image icon in the toolbar toolbar above the text box. (it's two over from the smiley face and looks like a little photo) Then copy and paste the url (Internet address) of the image you want to post in the pop up box you will find it in the photo site you have your photos on (photobucket, Flickr, Picasa, etc) Click Insert Image and their you have it your image will be posted If you don't keep your photos on a hosting site you will need to create an account there first and upload your photos then you can post them here. I personally like Picasa and Flickr but most here use Photobucket.
  13. Here you go. The minions from the movie Despicable Me. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42205&st=0&p=441355&hl=minions&fromsearch=1&#entry441355
  14. I think it looks good.
  15. I am putting one on my list to get.
  16. Incredible story. From what I have heard in your story and from other older modelers around my area a lot has changed. When did Testors first make PLA paint? I have a few old jars that I thought were from the early 60's but the testors bottles say PLA on them. Many of the older builders around here used Ross hobby paint I see those bottles a lot when I find boxes of old models at estate auctions. I have a bottle of Pactra namel Flat Insignia Blue that is still liquid and when I shake it it starts to mix. Best thing about it is the 15 cent price on the label.
  17. I've been realizing in the last few weeks that models seem to have crashed a bit on ebay. Several lots of built ups that should have sold in the 5-10 dollar a model range have started going for 2-5 each and even kit prices have fallen a bit. I don't know if it has to do with new shipping rates, new ebay fees, gas prices, or what but it's kind of great to see. I think most stuff on ebay is overpriced anyway.
  18. I've been using small craft bags ever since I started modeling. Staple a index card to the bag with the contents listed and the kit it came from and you will NEVER have to worry about forgetting what you have.
  19. The guy with the single set of Monster tires for went from one set for $25 to five sets for $25 maybe he wised up, maybe he saw other listings, or maybe he actually wants to sell them. http://cgi.ebay.com/Monster-Truck-tires-/270736037903?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0920180f
  20. I've had all sorts of different plug wires on race cars and real cars throughout my life. Everything from "glow in the dark" green to baby blue. Granted it helps when the local engine shop also does custom wiring (I think they have close to 50 colors they can order). I even ran alternating black and purple plug wires on a car for a charity race. Just go with whatever color you think works for the car or do every plug wire in a different color. The great thing about model cars is that it doesn't have to be real it can be as crazy and off the wall as you want it to be.
  21. I almost bought the Bantam bodies at a local flea market last weekend. I passed on it at first and by the time I went to the other side of the flea market, changed my mind, and went back it was gone.
  22. wow that sucks. Did they offer any help in finding an alternative place?
  23. I don't have any photos but I have a MPC Pontiac Fiero kit that has a 4.67 sticker from a local hobby shop that closed about 20 years ago. I also had some kits that had Kay-Be toy clearance stickers for $0.99 and a few clearance Walmart stickers.
