  1. I think it is a Kurtis 500 S roadster but I am going to say 54.
  2. Looks like a nice clean build. I get discouraged once or twice in every build but I push through. I like the paint color. Next time you want to edit your thread click the edit button instead of making a whole new post though
  3. What Michaels are you at that has a model kit for $35 bucks? The only kits that expensive are Semi kits? Also what hobby shop sells 35 dollar kits for 15 bucks?
  4. Anyone have a scan of the Galaxie Limited trailer decals? I just want to know what all it has on it besides the running reflectors but I don't know what else it has.
  5. I use Jo-Anns 25% percent off coupons all the time. Maybe it just depends on the store. I have even used Hobby Lobby's 50% off one item coupons.
  6. it is funny I got my family with that one a Christmas. I don't understand why google thinks people will kayak but it's probably just a joke.
  7. Yes, but sometimes depending on the manager at the time they won't accept them on model kits because Jo-Anns doesn't sell model kits.
  8. thanks everyone. I know what I am going to do now. I will be using the Galaxie trailers as I originally planned. It would be nice if someone made a Modern Nascar type trailer but I doubt Revell or R2 would be the ones to make it. Maybe Galaxie if we as modelers showed interest in it. The Italeri Haulers are nice but they are just shells everything would have to be custom built inside. BTW guys I agree with all of you for what teams use. I am a pit steward and photographer at a local race track and in the summer I attend races three times a week. I even race on a part time basis. I have seen everything from 100,000+ trailers to home built 500 dollar trailers being used.
  9. I have seen teams pull up with two trailers and four or five cars. I am just wanting to do a weekend warrior type team with one car and a small trailer like many of the smaller teams. I figured the midget trailer would be to small but it would have been perfect for part of what I wanted to do.
  10. Anyone out there tried to set a WOO (World of Outlaw) sprint car on one of the Kurtis Midget trailers? Also does anyone have any photos of or just put the WOO car in one of the Galaxie Limited trailers? I know the WOO cars were made a little bigger than advertised scale and I want to make sure they will fit before I consider investing in a couple trailers.
  11. Sucks to hear about another shop closing. Two on the Illinois side of St. Louis have closed with in the last year. Discounts are always good for the modelers though.
  12. B-J is more an American car auction than anything else. It always has been and always will be. Honestly I don't care what their website did. Most websites won't even let you mention competitors the fact that all they did was edit your post and not delete it at all is amazing to me. They didn't edit out anything bad you said about them and left what you said up for discussion. To me that is well within their rights and makes me respect them more. Also the B-J auction sells more cars in a week than all the ones you listed in an entire year so you can't really compare them on how big they are just on what they specialize in. I have been to two B-J auctions and 90+% of the cars are American because people auctioning their American cars wait as sell it there. Go to any other Auction and you will only see about 50% American and most of those don't sell or sell to go to B-J. Take it for what it is and watch or don't.
  13. Here you go Part #1469-DHFC from Slixx http://www.slixx.com/s1469.htm?id=2780 Looks like Slixx has them in white w/blue outline script Doug's Headers and gold all caps DOUG'S HEADERS. I did not see one on slixx website saying Headers by Doug or any other color combinations.
  14. Awesome truck. the details look great.
  15. Because it's cool. Just one way for nerds to try and be cool and do a much better job at it than jocks.
  16. Remember it's easier and cheaper to change two or three parts in a kit than to tool a whole new one. This is just another way Revell is trying to squeeze 25 bucks out of guys and not have to put the work in a new kit. I hope eventually Revell and R2 will realize the muscle cars have been done to death and provide us some new models or reissues of 90's kits or anything for the youth that grew up fantasizing about Lambos and Ferrari and drove 5.0 mustangs and Berrettas to school. Don't get me wrong I enjoy muscle cars and go to more car shows than anyone I know but in the model world I build one 57 chevy or a 64 Mustang and I don't care to build another. Doesn't matter how many times they bring it out with a new hood or seats or decals. And yes I know Revell makes a several Ferrari kits I was just trying to make a point. Also is the Yenko considered a true COPO car since the modifications were done at the dealership because GM didn't approve the modifications? COPO cars were warrantied by GM but the Yenko was not because the modifications were not approved.
  17. Here you go guys. The place that sells them. It is pneumatic and air cooled it runs the 8 cylinders with only four intake ports so it's kind of a double 4 and not a true V8 but it is still cool and neat. V8 engine lego Tech Oh and check out the lego mustang powered buy one of the engines.
  18. You had a booth? I must have stopped and talked to you. I stopped at very booth with models granted I did go in the last hour hour and half. I got some good deals there. Two WOO sealed kits for $15 and a Monogram 1981 release BMW 635 CSI for only 10 when on eBay its quadruple that. I did pick up three snap kits for 2.50 and a Nascar kit for the same can't remember the vendor though. One of the guys with hundreds of models. Honestly I hate the estate dealers. they don't build yet they get to over price our hobby.
  19. You are welcome. Radio shack isn't what it used to be. Even though I am only 27 I can still remember got to radio shack with my grandpa and getting parts to fix just about anything electrical. Now the electrical stuff has been cut down to one little section.
  20. Looks good.
  21. My nephew saw this and screamed "DOC". I busted up laughing. Guess I have to pick one of these up.
  22. It's all about the bottom line you don't see 3 in ones anymore because the companies don't want to put that much in kits anymore they could and sell them for the same price if they wanted too but they make more leaving it out. It's as simple as that. They are not going to give us extra when they can leave it out and still charge the same.
  23. You can find basic black LED holders for 10-25 cents each online or you can go to radio shack and get them. LED lights are cheap good ones are around .50 cents each online. You can buy a basic wall wart at radio shack (or the Canadian equivalent), or use one you already have. The resistor you will need will depend on your wall wart but those can also be found at radio shack. The last LED project I used these. led holder white led bulb Wiring LED lights is one of the easiest electrical projects you can do. If you have kids they probably built a battery powered led light in junior high science class. Biggest thing to remember is use the correct sized resistor and NEVER run the LEDs in parallel it doesn't work. Run them in series.
  24. The Kirkwood toy and model show just a couple months ago had kits going for $2.50. Several of the dealers I talked to that do shows all over the Midwest will drop the price on kits they have for selling for 5 dollars to $3 or less just to sell them. Usually they are kits nobody really wants anyway Nascar, over repopped things everyone already has, etc. But the last show I went to I picked up a few cool things for super cheap.
