1959-63 Rolls Royce Phantom V High Roof limousine
Chromecop replied to Chromecop's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The reason I'd like to go with 17/18" wire-Wheels is that I Think it'd look good for the average style o this build. It'll have a slight lowrider-look to it. Think something like a Daily driver for an upcoming lation rap-king.... 2" screen TVset in the rear compartment, some cocktail-glasses orchamagne-fluites along with a ottle in an ice-bucket and the "ing" in the rear seat, wearing a big, Heavy gold chain round his neck and , maybe, a skinny Young girl driving the car! Now I've found tires with higher profile, however they're made for 20" Wheels , so I'll have to either modify the wires or get some other Wheels for this one. -

There will be some work done to the body....however NO chopping as I really want to keep it as a High Roof Special body (by Mulliner/Park Ward). I totally agree about that bottom window line curve, it's not to find on the 1:1 scale car and needs to be taken care of! Also the Vent windows are to big and the C-pillar needs to be moved back a bit. These things are easy fixes thou.... By this time I've also found TWO interior buckets in my stash so I'm now planning for a full custom interior with a 42" flat screen TV-set in the back ! The car will most likely run british plates when finished! To bad I have to spend so much time at work, I'd rather be at home building models!!!!! -

Thanks for the links to the 1:1 scale cars. Yes, this toy looks quite similar to the Phantom VI of the british Queen. But, I've also found several pic's on the net of other High Roof Phantoms V limos and they also look very similar to my toy body! So, it's really not "that" off in the proportions.... Here's one (1960 model): https://sp.yimg.com/ib/th?id=HN.608050421750892252&pid=15.1&P=0 -

It's 1/24 scale. I searched my partsbox for quite a while ooking for the perfect set of tires, but these were the best I had (much better than the Fujimi's that came with the Wheels). However, I agree, they do look a bit small but will probably look a bit better once I lower the car ! I will most likely scratchbuild whatever interiorbucket I finally decide on, using the stock one as a base. -
Old Hong Kong made friction toy which will be built into a semi-custom curbside limo. Wheels Fujimi 17" chrome spokes while tires came from the partsbox. Will probably make a "half" interior (only for the drivers compartment)

Looks great!!

Old AMT 1960 Falcon, using 1961 Chassie and interior bucket. Switched the dash and front seats for 1966 Mustang. Rear rollpan of unknown origins while the front pan was built using the rear rollpan from AMT 1957 Ford!

The different colors depend on what kind of Wood You want it to lok like! You can use jut about any color from White to black. Always start with the lightest ad end with the darkest. Use very Little paint and "drybrush" it on the Surface. Good luck!

Awesome!!! -
Really cool looking VW-rod! Even though I prefere the use of stock VW front axle on rods like this, You really nailed the look and got the right stance on Your build, well done!

I really like that "old GT" (even though the other models are nice to! I had that kit many years ago but sold it! However I still have the Airfix convertible in my stash....might even build it some day!
