IIRC the RC body cost me about $80 total, incl shipping to Sweden. I know, that's more than 2 resin bodies, but I've never liked working with resin.....

"...I learned that the excalibur series 1 was based around the Chevy 327/350 engine, a homemade frame strengthened from the original Dart frame to accommodate the 327/350 Chevy small block, and some had super chargers etc." First, let me say that I really look forward to see this build completed. The Excalibur is truly a very nice car!!! However, the Excalibur S1 was NOT built on a "homemade Dart" frame, It used a somewhat modified Studebaker Lark Daytona frame. Later on, in 1970 the S2 was built on a special made "ladder frame" , 2" longer than the Studebaker Lark chassie and using Corvette components for suspension. Here's an interesting link: http://www.brooksstevenshistory.com/subcats/autos_details/excalibur_story.pdf

I'm quite convinced that the "master" for the Replicas resin Baja was/is the Kyosho RC-body as it has the exact same holes in the body where lights, crashbars and such should be mounted! It may have been slightly modified thou....???

Looking forward to see more of this build !

You're doing a really great job with this kit! The extended front was exactly what this body needed. Looking forward to more pic's in progress, not to mention the final result!

Outstanding craftsmanship in this build, I'm totally stunned!

Glue Bomb/old buildup saves - BEFORE & AFTER PICS?
Chromecop replied to impcon's topic in Model Cars
Actually, most of my models are rebuilt glue-bombs! I don't Always take pic's of the model the way it looks from start. I usually strip the paint and tear it apart first, then start building AND taking pic's. -

More corrections to the body. The Picture of the model has been photoshopped, but that's just about what it looks like right now after I've cut out some plastic in the thrunk area to shorten the body about 1/6". The red lines show where I will either ADD plastic or take some material away. -
Very nice save! I drove behind one such car during my stay in SF last year and I also saw one parked outside an ex gas-station in the Nevada-desert while driving from Las Vegas to Reno.

I don't know very much about Rolls Royce engines (or Cadillac for that matter) but here's some interesting reading about the Rolls Royce V8: http://www.rrec.org.uk/Cars/Rolls-Royce_Motor_Car_Engines/The_V8_Engine_Birth_&_Beginnings.php -

I haven't had the time to Think about colors yet, but orange is definitely doable on this one...however I'd prefere to mix it with a dark color like black or very dark "gun metal grey" metallic. I saw a real one on the net, it was pink Pearl and maroon and looked very nice! Dark blue/Silver would also look good I Believe.... We'll see, first I have to do the body mods to the left side as I've only done the right side so far! -

I've finally decided on wheels for this build. They will be "topped-off" with 3-blade knock-off spinners:
