  1. Thanx for the tips As I weather more models I learn from my mistakes and yes - I do "overweather" them sometimes. I always keep in mind the idea of where the car would or wouldn't rust. I also try to use color modulation tricks I've learned on forums from model tank builders.
  2. Thank you for the answer, Jeremy! In the meanwhile I stumbled uppon this page that explains it all: http://www.aerowarriors.com/sss.html Ok, back to my workbench as soon as I get home from work
  3. As a wagon lover I can already see myself sticking my MTB or my BMX in the back of that monster and take me somewhere to get sweaty and dirty... Love the model you've built, George! What paint did you use?
  4. Guys, I need some help here... I'm working on a 1:24 1970 Plymouth Superbird. As I'm planing to make a weathered car I'd like to know what the front end of the car was made of in 1:1? Ok, the fenders and the hood were sheet metal, right? But what about that aditional pointy nose on the car? Was it also made of sheet metal or some kind of non-rusting material, like plastic, fiberglass or something else? I mean, rusted plastic parts would be a kick to the guts for the model, right? Thank you for all your answers in advance, guys! Have a great day! Damir
  5. The falme-job looks so good it makes this rig look like 1:1... Just wow! You've done an outstanding job, Gordon!
  6. Very best of luck, Terry! I will keep my fingers crossed and will be happy when your next post in this topic in about 10 days says something like: "Went great, feel great, time to rock n roll again!!!" Stay strong! Damir

    Rat Bug

Sweet! Not sure about the door handles, though...
  8. Yep, vinyl is going to get messed up pretty badly... I removed the molded base for a plastic mesh... It sucked... I'll put real mesh in and allow a view to the undercarriage, radiator, engine... TBC!
  9. I made the rust-through holes and other damage zones on the body. I think I'll add some more, but let's say this is at about 90% I also dechromed the parts using Cilit Bang: There, that's it for a start. I'll continue work on it ASAP
  10. I started work on this monster right after I finished my Impreza (which I still have to photo...). A classic Monogram's '70 Superbird. Got it about a month ago and couldn't wait to start working on it I've done a thing or two to it. My holidays are over so the progress is going to be much slower than on the Impreza. Here are a few shots of it: Content: Cleaned all the parts of flash and excess plastic: Glued the seats. Plenty of puttying and sanding to be done here... Cut out one of the front lights: Removed one hood pin:
  11. Just shaved a handle of my Superbird a few nights ago: - I used my Olfa blade to slowly cut it off - I didn't cut it off in one piece, but in thin layers, thinner than 0.5 mm - After about 10 layers of cutting I got to an almost perfectly flat surface. Aiming the model at a corect angle to a strong light shows you where to cut more and when to stop - I finished the job with sanding paper #1200 and a few water drops. The result is a completely flat and shaved door Don't worry too much. Work slowly, don't rush and don't be scared - if you cut or sand away too much, you can still use some putty to fill the gaps
  12. Nice start The color is lovely! I have the same kit waiting to be worked on.
  13. Thanx, fellas! Mike: I was going to put some rust on this car anyway, but the peeled paint helped me decide where I wanna put it...
  14. Weathered the glasses and made the whipers trails: That's it at the moment. I believe the car should be finished in a week or so. Need to weather the lights, add the licence plate, do some small paint touch-ups, assemble the model and perhaps fix a spot or two here and there To be continued!
  15. Applied wash to the IC and mounted it: Yes, I know, I should've turned it around... But this was the only way to mount it in the bumper Undercarriage finished:
  16. Foglights finished: Added some mud to the body, assembled the wing and glued the lights to the car:
  17. More interior shots: Intercooler from parts box, some Revell 91 + a few drops of black all over it: My lucky number on the lights Interior completed:
  18. Interior during WIP: Glued the PE part on the radiator: Made them tyres look like they've done some things
  19. Dashboard done: Rear lights and front turn-signals: Stickerbombing: How it should look on the car: Bottom mostly done:
  20. Thanx to Tamiya's masks painting window trims was a walk in the park I fabricated some seat belts:
