Beautiful, gorgeous, stunning, jaw-dropping, perfect... Simply one of the most wonderful builds I've ever seen - and I've seen thousands!
Can't stop going through the pictures...
I remember when I was working on mine - searched the interweb and found very little info on the L-700. therefore I just decided to go straight forward, build it OOB and do some damage to it:

I've had ideas of a project like this a few years ago - to draw and mill parts out of sheet styrene. I had some sci-fi vehicles in my mind and seeing this done it sure brings those ideas back to life
I love the project so far! Keep it up and update it daily, please...
Tamiya brown:
Due to exhaustion and the late hour I stopped at this phase, but today the show continues
After I finish the rust with salt technique, I'll have to decide about aplying the body color - over salt or hairspray...
TBC!
Thanx, Larry
The work has continued
Seats sorted out:
Engine halves had a poor fit... But a bit of putty and some sanding can solve a lot
I crashed the front end into a lamp post...
All parts have been washed and soon they shall recieve some paint
TBC!
Now THAT is wood
The way I do it:
- Paint the part biege or similiar light-brown color
- Mix some brown oil paint with thinner
- Apply uneven strokes of oil paint over the biege part. Different brushes give different results.
Also, for replicating "3D" effect of wood:
Sand the piece randomly with a rough sanding paper in the direction of wood grain. This will not only give the piece a "3D" look, but also make small scratches in which the oil paint or the enamel paint that Jürgen suggested will wash into.
Take a piece of plastic and play with it
Thanx for the link, Cliff!
Chris: I've also made rusty mirrors on my Citroen C2 rat though I knew they're made out of plastic, but my exscuse is: At DamDesign we make metal parts and rust them...
Some pics of the C2 can be seen here:
