  1. I have used the AMT 1968 Shelby Mustang chassis and interior on a 1966 Mustang Fastback body. Didn't take a whole lot of work to make the fit ok.
  2. Going thru my stuff and found a few items I don't need. MPC Grumpy's Toy Vega Pro Stock sealed. All of the complete parts trees from the Moebius 1965 Plymouth A/FX (not AWB). Really everything but the body and tires. All bags sealed. Two sets (4 each) resin Torque Thrust wheels. (new) Kit decals from Polar Lights Gas Ronda Mustang Funny Car. Fred Cady Gas Ronda A/EX Mustang decals. Car Tech drag racing books. 8.5 x 11 soft cover, like new condition. Great reference material and drag racing history. Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick, Shirley Shahan The Drag On Lady, Mopar Factory Drag Cars 1962-1972, Drag Racing's Quarter Mile Warriors Then and Now (restored drag cars), Early Funny Cars 1964-1975. Also one hard cover book. Don The Snake Prudhomme My life beyond the 1320. Used vg condition. i would have interest on any of the following: 1966 Mustang Fastback AWB, MPC/AMT 1969 Mustang, MPC Firefighter Mustang Pro Stock, 1966 Fairlane 427, 1966 Galaxie and 1966 Mustang Fastback. Also looking for a Fred Cady 1964 Mustang Coupe A/FX decal. Please message me in you have any interest.
  3. I built many of these years ago for my son. I'm getting up in years and my skills aren't what they used to be. These kits would be ideal for me to still be able to build a few models. It would ne awesome if Slixx could come up with some decals for these kits.
  4. I was stationed in Portsmouth, NH in the mid 1960s. There was a sporting goods store that had toys and models on the second floor. Right around the corner from my high school there was a small TV repair shop. They had one small shelving unit next to the counter that had about 20 car kits. You sometimes wonder how you managed to stumble upon these places.
  5. Just wondering if anyone has used Molotow Liquid Chrome Markers to touch up chrome. I ran into some the other day. They run about $11.69 so I don't want to get any if they don't work that well.
  6. Does any company make a semi gloss red paint either spray or brush?
  7. Just wondering if anyone has used SMP decals and what you thought of them.
  8. This was mentioned on the Dyno Don Facebook page as rumored to be in the works for 2019 along with Grumpy's 1972 Vega. Anyone hear anything on this?
  9. From the Don Nicholson Facebook page this is the box art for the Dyno Don 1965 Comet kit.
  10. At one time there were two Chucks making decals. Don't know which one made the Ramcharger decals. There were two different ones. One for the Revell Mc Ewen Duster and one for a resin body. They are very nice. Just in case you don't have it see if you can find the Fall 2013 issue of Elapsed Times Magazine. It has a great six page article on the restored car.
  11. I've never built a NASCAR model before. Somewhere I managed to acquire a couple of AMT thunderbirds so I thought I'd give in a try. I have a couple of quick questions. What year are the AMT T-Bird kits? Are all the engines aluminum in color? Am I correct to assume that NASCAR does not allow chrome rims? Lastly do you scuff up the tires like you would a drag slick or do you leave them as they are? Thank you in advance for any info.
  12. gtx6970 Don had two 1965 Comets. One was driven by Eddie Schartman. It had a 427 wedge and never had a tube axle. Don's car the red one was delivered with a 427 SOHC. When Don altered the wheelbase and added injectors he also added a tube axle. The Beswick car never had injectors. It was turned over to Paul Rossi in mid season and ran carbs.
  13. I would like to see some good injector stacks. The ones in the AMT parts pack look good but they are too skinny and not tall enough. Same with the ones by Parks. The stacks from Speed City Resin just don't look right.
  14. Thanks for the info. I think I am going to use the NASCAR T Bird engine. I am not all that comfortable working with resin.
  15. I have enough odd parts to build a couple of MPC Pinto pro stocks but I'm not real happy with the engine that came in the kit. Can anyone suggest a kit that has a half decent 351 engine? All of the Ford engines in my parts box are big blocks.
  16. Getting ready to start on a Polar Lights Mustang funny car. I seem to have heard or read somewhere that the chassis needs to shortened a small amount in order for the wheelbase to be correct. Does anyone know how much it needs to be shortened?
  17. Hope this is not old news. Did a search and didn't find anything. Saw a photo on a Facebook drag racing group of a Golden Commandos 1965 Plymouth Belvedere. Photo was cropped but it appeared to be a kit box. It said Coming Soon. The poster was involved with the team. I asked if it was a model and he said yes. I assume it will be the same as the Melrose Missile. Model King perhaps.
  18. Champaign Gold. Bob Ford also had some earlier Galaxies that were yellow.
  19. Here is a photo of the actual Bob Ford car. I believe the correct color is Champaine Gold.
  20. If you are thinking of dropping a Mustang body on the Comet chassis keep in mind the Comet wheelbase is 114" and the Mustang's is 108". The A/FX Mustangs also had the rear wheels moved forward 3 inches.
  21. I received the Missile kit today. Looks to be a decent kit. Noticed three small things. The instructions show to install the console. Pretty sure the real car did not have a console. "Air Cleaners" are not correct in shape. Also no roll bar included. Looking at the instructions I'm wondering what a "Torque Filter" transmission is.
  22. The Golden Commandos car pictured was the 2% wheelbase car that only ran in the 1965 AHRA and NHRA Winternationals. It was then converted to the altered wheelbase car. Same goes for the Melrose Missile '65 hardtop.
  23. I see it only took three posts for somebody to complain.
  24. Chrysler had four cars prepared for the 1965 NHRA Winternationals to run in A/FX because the NHRA wouldn't let the AWB cars run in that class. They had acid dipped bodies, carbs and a 2% altered wheelbase. They ran A/FX. The Super Stock cars were two door sedans. They were run by the Ramchargers, Color Me Gone, Golden Commandos and Melrose Missile. All were later converted to the full altered wheelbase cars. I would guess this model represents one of those cars.
