Sometimes I hate Hobby Lobby
Lunajammer replied to El Roberto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Which is why I put little stock in their flyer sales on kits, because it's never better than just using the 40% coupon off the full price anyway. -
Last year when this was being kicked about, I did some imagineering and feel pretty confident with the custom I came up with then. So I guess I'm set if I don't change my mind in the next three weeks.

2020 Family Truckster !
Lunajammer replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think this is one of the nicer looking trucks of the last 20-years. But I also remember the flak I commonly heard about its garish styling and how the flared fenders and hood hump was a step backwards in design. -
2020 Family Truckster !

Car guys don't represent the conventional American car buyer. Any neutrally colored brick of composites will suffice as long as it's huge and chiseled. In their daily lives, across all consumer goods, younger consumers have not been as influenced by color and style as older consumers who were exposed to a whole different method of marketing and priority. -
WINNERS POLL for Cannonball Run 2018 CBP
Lunajammer replied to Lunajammer's topic in Community Builds
I hear ya my man, but the onsite poll was grossly inadequate; too complicated, biased against models at the bottom of the list and had no securities against multiple votes. I talked it over with Rob and our site administrator and the consensus was to go with a reliable tool. The polling feature is always evolving, so if participants want to bring it back to this site next year, we'll keep it in the family. But we'll revisit this next fall. -
2018 Cannonball Run CBP - PLEASE VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE!!!

Thank you for reviewing the entries, please click HERE to vote for your one favorite. All forum members are welcome to vote. -
Okay ladies and germs, the poll is up in the CBP section. We're going off site for this service, but it's quick, easy and most of all accurate. Click on the link, make your selection and click "Vote" at the bottom of the page. Badda-boom, badda-bing. It only allows you one vote, so... there's that. Flag's dropped, racers away!

I've made thumbnails for voting questions and have passed messages with Dave Ambrose about the poll so I should have something ready, hopefully tomorrow.

We didn't get much snow here, so I'll have the poll thread going in the next day or two.

With nods to the movie car conversation going on HERE Kurt Womack (89AKurt) got me wondering how many movies have been shot in the concrete canyons of the LA River. It's a setting familiar to all, because it seems half the car chases in California set films have to go to the gully. Is the big ditch really accessible for anyone to go driving in? Films would make you think so. REPO MAN DRIVE GREASE TRANSFORMERS THEM (1954) TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA GUMBALL RALLY ????

I absolutely admire your grasp and execution of this whole genre, with this and your other builds. I've been working in the steampunk genre in my other hobbies and because I don't have a natural grasp of it, I spend long hours trying to learn and struggle to execute the looks I want. Dieselpunk, which is essentially what you're doing here, is the same. If you get it, it comes naturally and you appear to execute this stuff with ease. Salud.

The flames really worked out. Nice.

CA glue seems to be the consensus on a few of posts I've found. One mentions black CA

Family legend has it that around the early part of last century, my grandfather and one or two brothers set out to drive a Model T the farthest north into Canada than any car had ever driven. They lived in Saskatchewan. It was mostly off-road, using railroad bridges when possible to ford rivers. I'm told they succeeded, but it was probably a record soon broken. I always embraced that story as a tribute to the mechanical spirit of the early car owners who were emboldened by the possibilities the automobile offered.
