This might almost have to be administered on a case by case basis if people push the definition of original vs. modern improved. E.g. a nascar chassis under a 55 Chevy is probably out of bounds? Wide body & ground effects? Trying to use Google images to help clarify in my mind but even some of those press the definition. I know this group probably aren't nazis about it anyway, I'm just cluttering my own noggin.

I always thought that theme-wise, this rod sort of "jumped the shark." It's so absurd as to not even connect with me as a car. I get that these show rods were novelties but putting a bathroom or a kitchen for that matter on a platform with an engine and calling it a car just escapes me. Of course, it's that very novelty that's appealing to you to build it. I think you're doing a bang up job. Amazing how your details bring it to life, and giving it the full Liberace makes it even more fun.

The Straight Six Community Build Rides Again

WOW, I almost can't believe it's been that long. I thought I'd post a link to that CBP as a reference to show the spirit of the challenge but it's so old with so many broken links it's almost worthless... almost. Still a ton of good info & inspiration here. -
2023 Cannonball Run-What-You-Brung Build Thread
Lunajammer replied to White Rabbit's topic in Community Builds
Congratulations Anthony on a splendid winning model, a true road killer in the spirit of the Cannonball Run. What an impressive field of builders. Some finished, others not but all were great ideas and interesting to watch develop. Thanks White Rabbit for moderating an engaging and informative CB. (Nice work on this cool graphic too.) -
Beautiful. Super clean. The wheel treatment really stands out.

SoDak's video is another 15-minute YouTube video that could've been done in 2. I thought the idea was interesting until he started getting into BMF, after market detailing products, Sharpies, kit bashing, etc. So I guess the video could've been about 90-seconds. "Build a car any way you want without using broad coatings and submit your videos this way." Done.

Yup, I can tell you right now that's Buzz Bundy doing the driving in that pic. He was the only stunt driver of that era who rode on two wheels with drivers side up and he did it across all action TV shows and movies of the 70s and 80s. It was his signature. He took a beating getting good at it, which is partly why the rest preferred to be drivers side down.

I'm not sure a moderator has actually been locked in yet to look after these things... (Beuller?)

How would you repair this?

There are plentiful wasted ones already. Put a post in the Wanted section and you could probably land a cut up glue bomb body for a meager trade. -
Primer for Krylon Spray Paints
Lunajammer replied to midlineqb's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Pretty much every general use, hardware store spray paint states it's safe to use on plastic unless it's a specialty, limited use paint. A quick search of every general use brand I can think of states it's safe to use on plastic. Yet here we are. -
1966 Ford F250 Plow Truck

Yes, this is nostalgic. Hits all the right notes and you did a great job. The wheels really bring it to life. -
Anyone know how old this paint is
Lunajammer replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ah yes, back when you could plainly read from the label what color you were buying. Bought a couple bottles last week that, in the store, I couldn't for the life of me read whether they were flat, gloss or even shade ?. Can't go by labels on the rack because bottles often aren't in the right place. -
There's a 21 year old girl in our office who is hog wild for the 80's and has built her life around the fashion and culture and surrounds herself with cassette tapes, records, posters and clothes, mostly gotten at thrift store prices. The more she squeals over it the older I feel. But I'm learning to see what she sees in it so for that reason, if this excites a pocket of young, participating modelers, I'm for it. Personally it doesn't interest me... (much).

Even sitting on your desk it looks real. Good job.

Not that I have any skin in the game but I've always thought a fun CBP theme would be vehicles named after physical places; Monte Carlo, Denali, Mercury, (Ferrari) California, Galaxie, Europa, (Taurus?), Fairlane, Eldorado, Caprice (Ghana), Daytona, Malibu, Bonneville, Comet (of your choosing), Torino, Polara, Bel Air, Plymouth, Riviera, Tudor, etc, etc. If you Google enough you could probably find someplace named after almost anything. Heck, you could make the argument that a vehicle with just a number could be a physical address, but you would have to state the address. "Cannonball GPS."

Lovely hot rod. Pleasure to view.

Just curious, is there a way for viewers to track the voting or do we just wait for your announced results? -
2023 Cannonball Run-What-You-Brung Build Thread
Lunajammer replied to White Rabbit's topic in Community Builds
I think you've done a great job Enzo running this CBP in an orderly, informed and engaging way. I nominate White Rabbit to run the next Cannonball. All in favor say, "Aye." The ayes have it. You're in ?. -
The most important dos is participation. Show your work along the way and support the work of others. A group build is a community affair and without actively participating, it's just building a model. Be courteous and have fun.

To that store's credit, it stayed open years longer than I ever expected and only closed because the owner died. He as much told me that he wasn't making any money. So glasses raised to him and his memory for keeping the doors open just for the love of the small hobby business and the people he served.
