  1. Tim this is looking good and I love how you cut out the scoops. I am building a replica of a '68 my dad had when I was a kid. I filled the hole in on the hood and I painted mine Burgundy metallic. Keep this going...I will always have a soft spot for the '68's.
  2. Looks awesome and yes more pictures please.
  3. I love BMW's and the e36 platform has really grown on me. That color looks cool and I can see the flat hue it has. I believe the flash on your camera is what is causing everything to look different. Try using lamps or another form of light and turn your flash off. Keep on building!
  4. Thanks for saving the day Doug, I took 125 pictures and was unable to get them posted due to technical difficulties I also have blurry syndrome so you managed to get a bunch of good ones. I had a blast at my first ever model kit show, met awesome people, ate good food, scored some awesome kits and managed to take first place in my class. I will definitely be back next year, thanks again Cincinnati auto replicas. here are two of the sprint, I was to excited to sit around and get quality picutres
  5. Looks good Jim nice and shiny how you like it. Nice touch on the front emblem and I like the tailgate with the pinstriping. Oh my could you imagine a crusty gunky Cranky plate on one of Jim's shiny builds
  6. Wow that last picture is legit, I can see your hand and everything, but for a quick snap it looks very convincing. I like these kits and you did a great job on it.
  7. Hey its a learning experience with this photo stuff. Very cool model and I love all the details. That shop is so awesome looking.
  8. Donn it was awesome to meet you guys today. I am blown away by the quality of your work. You have they best paint I have ever seen in my life and your details are super clean. If you guys have not had the pleasure...not only has Donn perfected the painting process, but he is humble as anyone could be.
  9. Fellas thanks again for all the encouraging comments....it really motivates me and It is a big part of the hobby in my eyes. I have been a little preoccupied with work and other hobbies, but tonight I decided to attract the final pieces..the all mighty wings. I plan on adding the little supports on the top side of the main wing. I still have some touch ups and a small amount of weathering before its complete. Thanks again for all the knowledge and awesome ideas I have learned on this site.
  10. Thanks for the kind words everyone and Bill i wouldn't be near as happy with this build if that seat was missing. I got some pieces fitted last night and things are starting to come together. I couldn't wait any longer so I mounted up the wheels and glued all the tins in place.....
  11. Sorry about the delay everyone, but sometimes life gets busy. I have been hard at it the last week or so as the contest is next Saturday. This model has fought me every step of the way. First off I planned things out very poorly and as a result I had to handle painted pieces way to much. Also the more you fool with things the better breaking something becomes. To top that off its kind of small even for a 1/25 scale so that much harder to squeeze them details in. So far the box stock portion seems to be decent. I ended up pinning nearly all the engine components in the end. Next time around I will have all my holes for my pins drilled and test fitted. Winging these things has only caused me much more headache in the end. I am still working on a way to mount the top wing. I really want it to be removable, but I might not be able to pull it off. Most likely it will simply be glued into to place. The firewall and engine were not very fun to get in. Thanks again for the comments everyone and thanks for the inspiring work Tommy. Here is how it currently sits.
  12. Steve that my friend is rad to the bone. I love the air ride and all the hard lines you used to plumb it. Really cool build and nice job on completing it.
  13. You guys are still just bad mouthing and bashing away here in dudes thread huh..? Please be sure and screw up all my under glass post with your useless trash talking guys, I would greatly appreciate it as I am sure the builder does. Thanks for being grown up everybody....yay
  14. I love it Tommy, your work always looks clean. Cool little intro explaining the car and driver...1984 the great year I was born.
  15. I like it also, I am not a huge muscle car fan so I like to see these cars done up in different styles. Very cool.
  16. Now that is sweet looking there Josh. I would love to see the underside if you ever get a chance to snap a picture. I love the color and BMF work.
  17. Wow now that is a smooth looking paint job. Been hearing all about "Donn's techniques" and apparently they are working. Now Donn when you spray your enamel base are you using silver or gold strictly? I ask because it seems as though you are using a colored enamel base followed by a colored candy top coat creating amazing final colors? Either way very impressive work, wish I could see it in the flesh. Thanks for sharing Cranky, we all appreciate your dedication to the hobby and this forum P.s I want one of those shirts
  18. That is very cool looking, also wondering what wheels you will be choosing. I hope you nail that cal look stance, raked with fat meats on the back. All your paint work is very clean and shows you don't need all that detail. Keep it up.
  19. Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Sorry Billiam here are some updates and although they are late I think you will approve. I have all but one line in place. I am still painting things ,but here is how it sits. I also managed to get the distributor bored out and wired on my second attempt
  20. Wow the stance is wicked...Did you just change the tires or did you alter the ride height? I really like the second one, but I bet these look nice sitting next to each other.
  21. Thanks gentleman I appreciate the motivation. Tommy the fittings are from Pro-Tech, Charlie is a stand up guy and while check or money order is all he does it is worth the few extra days of wait. I got .025, .035 with the corresponding fittings If anyone was curious. I really like how his braided line has a core which becomes the curved part of the fitting. The harness was actually really easy and enjoyable to assemble. I don't know if I can ever put a decal harness on another model I am working on the radiator and painting the last few engine pieces.....updates tonight.
  22. Thanks for the info Bill and thanks for the seat, it was key element in this build. I got the seat mounted and the belts all in place. Its probably not 100% accurate ,but I do like the final product. I have been working on the engine and fixing a bunch of things I messed up along the way. Here is the block shot in Alclad. I made a modern oil filter out of round stock and I will paint it anodized red. I also managed to get all my braided lines and fittings assembled.
  23. Oh really well now that sounds quite interesting and maybe a little more suited for me. Thanks Shawn I was just being nosy about your friend, I know some locals with late models.
  24. Whoa Shawn this thing is looking awesome man I don't know how I missed it. I really really like your strips simulating folded and riveted seams, that is so cool I don't know what else to say. I am a bit intimidated by trying this(dirt modeler plans/pe kits) out, but after a few years of practice I think I might be ready to take on something completely scratch built. Keep up the good work man I am loving this one. Your friends car looks rad by the way..does he race local or travel all over?
  25. Those are awesome looking, I love the #72 Sedan.
