  1. Don't forget to get extra racks to make it tall enough to fit a model car body and the painting stand.
  2. Agree 100% with this. Stuff from the Modelhaus, Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland or Drag City Castings (our own Ed Fluck) I will buy from with no hesitation and without having seen the parts beforehand. Anyone that I have not already dealt with, I ask around before they see any of my money. There are guys that I would buy from at shows with no issue because I already have the parts in my hands I know they have it. However those same people I would never buy from them through the mail or over the internet because I don't know when or if I will ever get my parts. A good example is Jimmy Flintstone bodies. A lot of people like them because they are cheap and easy to get ahold of and Jimmy ships very quickly so I'm told. However for myself, if you gave me a Jimmy Flintstone body I would give it back. In my opinion, they lack the quality and especially the crispness that I expect. Maybe dealing with the likes of the Modelhaus has spoiled me but I would rather rather pay a little bit more for a very good resin body or find a styrene one and do the conversion work myself.
  3. Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale. Kinda like the H.A.M.B. but in plastic. http://trakinscale.proboards.com/
  4. Have you checked out TRaK? There is a section on the forum called where did you get it. it has a listing of traditional style parts available in various kits. Might want to check over there for some ideas. Also Gary, have you checked out Vintage Drag Models? They are a hardcore vintage drag site no modern stuff allowed. It might take a few days to get approved to view the site but it is worth it.

  6. Too bad. I believe that a properly scaled, accurate belly tank model would sell very well.
  7. They are meant to hold food. You need to cut the centers out of all of the racks except the lowest one. I bought 4 extra trays for my nesco to make it high enough to hold a body on a holder. Any one you buy will need modified for paint drying. I can't stress this enough, put a thermometer in the dehydrator with the model. Much above 105° and you risk this: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/107741-what-not-to-do/ The first time I ran mine I ran it with nothing but the thermometer for a couple of hours so I could fiddle with the temperature to get it in the sweet spot without risking a body.
  8. That was pretty entertaining. Gotta love the look on her face at about 1:50 when she is aiming at that building.
  9. Check this thread out. Lots of great info. Mine is a Nesco American Harvest with the temp control. Frank may run his at 115° but I keep mine at 105°. 115° is a little too close to the warpy droopy temperature for styrene for my comfort. I have a $7 walmart digital thermometer that I leave inside my unit.
  10. Check out threads on here explaining about dehydrators. I finally broke down and bought one a couple of years ago and wish I had bought it 20 years ago. Mine is one of the powered ones with a fan and a heater in it but you can also get ones that do not use any electricity at all. Just make sure if you get one you also get a small thermometer to put inside of it to keep an eye on the temperature. If it gets too hot it WILL melt the styrene.
  11. It has been quite a few years since I was at the Henry but I thought that the plaque in front of the car in the museum indicated that it was a recreation. I could be mistaken though.
  12. Both hoods, the uptop, a 442 grille and a Linda Vaughn figure. Great value. I'm in for a couple for sure.
  13. Pretty sure that this is the one he has Harry. http://www.icm.com.ua/news/379-henry-fordco-3-figures.html
  14. Dundas valley hobbies has a good selection of alclad paints.
  15. If you go that route, I can hook you up with lots of good reference photos of the black car above. The owner made the car available to me for a couple of hours to photograph for reference when putting mine back together. I probably have 500 pictures of that car. Mine is some assembly required lol.
  16. Peekay, I don't think you overdid it on the black detailing on the caps at all. It looks just right to me. Here are a couple of pictures of a friend of mine's perfectly restored 59 El Camino. This is the nicest one I have ever seen. I own a full size 59 Camino so I have looked at a lot of them.
  17. You have to email Kevin to be put on the waiting list for it. Kevin told me he hasn't put it up on the site because of all of the faceborg and forum orders that he is working his way through. I have been waiting more than a year for it but I am willing to wait. I have lots of other stuff to keep me busy.
  18. lol. Dang. I had my $300 already in an envelope just waiting for the address to send it to.
  19. I think Art means they sold only one or two chassis a year. That being said, if I am the one misunderstanding and you truly do sell one or two of the visible chassis every saturday approaching Christmas, and for $150, I will take two. Let me know where to send the money.
  20. Same caps on the real deal. Corvette guys pay big $$$$ for caps that aren't all beat up.
  21. Have you verified for yourself that it is the first one made or are you going by the sellers word? Always verify facts like that independently if that is a buy/not buy factor or a price factor. Sometimes people selling cars are a bit loose with the facts and the truth. Whether through ignorance or intent, it is up to the buyer (you in this case), to not get burned.
  22. Just as a note: the dog dish caps are not in the 59 Elcamino kit. The AMT 59 elky kit has the full wheelcovers in it.
  23. Try copying and pasting the IMG link. Two links below the one shown in the picture in the post above. Copy the IMG link from the photobucket site and then paste it into your reply on the mcm site. When you post the reply or preview the post the picture should pop up. This also doesn't use up mcm bandwidth it uses up Photobucket bandwidth. This has always worked for me in the past.
  24. I have never seen the big scale coupe up close. How are the proportions on the body? Because our proprotions on all of the smaller ones are kind of wonky. If the proportions are right then I have to agree with Jantrix. A bit of backdating to a moe traditional style and it would probably sell very well.
