also a good sharp edge'd clean tape makes a difference , avoid the stuff that is laying on the workbench getting nicked up and fuzzed edges from dust and debris. couple that with a fine mist of clear as mentioned. I like to seal with matt clear ,I've noticed it goes on the thinner and flashes off quicker than gloss clear.

Good timing Doc , I started dabbling with a Henry J kit, it's a little booger to assemble. But I'm getting a small case of gasser fever lately

they work fine over a glossy black , I've used spraycan black,testors enamel black , and alclad black enamel base all with great results, just like the alclads the finish needs to be smooth . I have also used them over primers , I first buff the primer coat with a piece of pantyhose to slick it up , than spray. never had problems with it coming off ,

badger 155 for the win , it doesn't know it's a bottom feed and sprays great at very low pressures goes to show,not all AB are created equal. The 150/155 is legendary

buffing with pantyhose will make the primer get that sheen

or download chrome instead

it's fun dragging old stuff home to your own driveway and garage and making something out of it but not everyone can haul an old fridge up to a 3rd floor apartment, than start drilling and hacking while the neighbors bang at you from below and alert management

3m fineline ... better than tamiya hands down and a heck of a lot cheaper per foot. If you like tamiya than get this stuff(pic below) at box stores,sherwin williams...ect ... same exact source, same exact tape, and again, a heck of a lot cheaper

wow clean ! on the interior did you over spray the buff with anything or just use the buff paint alone ?

looks pretty tame to me except i would get that expensive fineline and tamiya tape out of harm and dirt and into a baggie to preserve the edge.

I'm going to put this set on santa's list .. last time I thinned down some black enamel to spray it shot out a giant cobweb.

ok I read up a little on it .. the front wheel doesn't even steer... ! ... he is working a rear stabilizer like on an airplane.....at the speed the wheels are spinning,it would take an elephant to steer them from strait due to the centrifugal forces making the wheel want to stay in a strait line.... makes sense now since I notice all the stream liners use aerodynamic wings and rudders/stabs for aerodynamics ...now I know they are more for guiding vehicle so technically it's closer to a fighter jet than a car as far as guiding it down the track !

what is the steering is for . ? ... seems like if you even inched the wheel at those speeds it would cartwheel like a matchbox in the wind !

testors enamel gloss black works fine,, any enamel glossy black smooth finish works the best under alclad chrome. I find it attaches best if the enamel is not totally and fully cured it's dry but has that inherent micro- grabbyness to it annother tip ,, spray a thin and light coat as possible,, the alclad needs to let some of the black undercoat thru to look chrome-like ... continue spraying and it becomes duller and duller... might as well paint it over primer or any color basecoat at that point. tht's where it differs from almost any other paint.. the less coverage , the better

I have been following the try to build cleanly first, than add more as my skills improve. I'm starting my 4th car model soon. Another restraint I put on myself personally is , I will not buy aftermarket parts/photoetch. without trying to scratch build them myself first. so far I have been able to scratch build everything I have been tempted to buy. There are very few things that can't be made "in house" without a little effort and ingenuity. A bunch of photoetch, aftermarket motors ..ect.. doesn't impress me like the amazing scratch work I see on here. can't say I will 'never' use photo etch or aftermarket but I got a long way to go before I feel I need all that

The amt 70 camaro I just did wasn't to good neon orange plastic including the wheels , no chrome (except the bumpers and grill) low detail and hard to fit together without vice grips and epoxy. that aside, builds into a very nice car
