  1. Valve covers look accurate! Any idea on the wheels yet??
  2. Thanks Donato, it’s so close too, I just need a little bench time.
  3. It’s from my parts box, I think it might have been from the Monogram Hurst Hairy Oldsmobile kit, as I have two of them.
  4. Looking great, looks like your getting some bench time.
  5. I know, Right! It’s been painted 3 days, and I still haven’t touched the paint. I just pick it up on the stand and look at it.
  6. Lookin good
  7. That’s a lot of engineering goin on there, looking great.
  8. Clear coat came out great, I may not even polish it, decals stayed in place. I’m so ready to move forward on this one.
  9. Hey Ron I love your sanding blocks. Mike is running a power glide transmission now. For what it’s worth.
  10. Your very welcome, let me know if you need something.
  11. Too funny Zippi!
  12. Here’s what I took earlier this year, there in no particular order. I can probably get you more just let me know what you need.
  13. Cool project, I met Mike about a year ago, he’s a super nice guy! His shop is in the same complex I work in. I was in the warehouse working and I heard a race motor start. I ran out of the warehouse and followed the noise. He had recently built a Quadrajet carburetor for a customer and was testing it on his Nova. It’s a very cool car. I too have thought of building this model and giving it to him.I’m following. I have taken some photos of the car if you need them. He wheels seem to be the biggest obstacle.
  14. A man after my own heart, keep posting!
  15. I agree with you, older race cars were usually hand lettered by sign painter’s using One Shot Enamels. I normally like to clear the graphics, and add sponsors decals after the clear, and in the past I have had no issues with this process. I normally use Testors enamel paint under the clear. I have been watching YouTube videos and everyone raves about the Tamiya paints so I decided to try it. I guess I don’t like things getting the best of me, and so I’ve continued with the Tamiya paint. Now I’m wishing I had painted it this last time with the Testors. The Tamiya lacquer is too hot for my antique Johan plastic, and it has a fine etching into the plastic again. I was able to sand most of it out but the white has to have a clear coat to make it look good. I’m using Splash 2K clear, and I’m going to go slow and easy with the coats of clear. I was hoping the Tamiya paint would work out as it’s much thinner than Testors enamel and I wouldn’t loose as much detail on my builds, but at this point I may just go back to what I know works.
  16. I love this type of build, coming along nicely!
  17. Came out very nice, great work!
  18. Thanks Zippi, I’m working up the courage to clear it?
  19. I made some floor board extensions for the outside of the frame rail as the interior tub doesn’t cover this area and it didn’t look right. I painted the frame and interior tub and seats. I also added the 427 decals from Slixx decals, as this was a popular trend to boast what motor you had since the 427 was so new at the time. I really had to rework the headers as one side was lower than the other and the other was too long. I ended up shortening one header, I heated them both and bent them upward to level them out.
  20. Got decals on it today! I guess small progress is still progress…..
  21. Looking great Zippi!
  22. Just amazing! Looks beautiful so far.
  23. Very cool project, you might want to try a monogram thunderbird chassis under it.
  24. Looks great Zippi !
