Almost 3 years, 2 kits, A started Johan Hornet Funny Car kit and the Johan 69 Rambler S/C kit, 2 Sets of Slixx decals, repainted 4 times, lots of scratch built parts! I think it turned out well for all I had to go through. Comments, questions, criticism all accepted. ASI. Posting this I just realized I missed chrome on the door handles, but I’m headed out of town and wanted to get this posted.

That’s beautiful, this one’s been on my list for a while now. The blue looks spot on, crisp edges on the white, very well done. What are you doing for the chassis? Out of the box? -
That motor is beautiful Joe, I was wondering what you were up to, it’s good to see you on another car build!

Thanks Trevor, it’s close!

I love what your doing here, you built an old collector kit, and did it beautifully. Great job on this one! -
Beautiful build, a ton of scratch building, love it!

Thanks Francis I really appreciate that.

Thanks, I mix Testors metalizers, brass and aluminum, I thought is was still a little to gold, but I’ll apply a wash and it should tone down.

I like the ride height! Good stance! I didn’t have that issue with my Nomad build, I ha another dash if you want to try it, it’s out of an older issue.

I like it, looks great! Great stance! -
That’s funny, there’s no such thing as a simple build!

Wow, that’s pretty! Great work!

Thanks everyone, for the kind words. I’ve not been on here in a week or so, so I apologize for the late response. Work and life keep me pretty busy and I am spending as much free time I have on my Hornet build, wanting to get it completed.

Good morning Francis, I’ve been following along, but not commenting as I simply don’t have words. It’s just simply amazing what your doing here. It looks so real, just like the real car. Having owned 4 A body Mopar’s, your capturing all the nuisances. Thank you for sharing, a break in the building process can be good as you come back refreshed and enthusiastic about working on it again. God bless you my friend! -
Thanks Daniel, I’m getting anxious to finish it. Overall, I’m pleased with it. It’s been a lot more work than I expected.

Hey Zippi, sorry I didn’t respond quicker, but my girls went to Illinois this weekend, so I finally got to work on the Hornet all weekend. I got a lot done. If I had one more day I probably could have finished it. It’s too hot and humid so I moved from the garage to the kitchen table, much more productive. Somehow my taillights don’t fit my bumper, I think somewhere I ended up with a 73 rear bumper. It fits the body but doesn’t match so I had to modify the tail lights to work. I scratch built a tach, added the front roll bar brace. I finished the decals and hood pins as well as the BMF on the windows. I need to make the glass. I painted the headliner and area around the rear wheel openings.I added carbs to the motor and a bunch more, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.

That’s just beautiful! It made me smile! That turned out so cool!

Thanks Jim, I’m going to start pinning more of my parts. I thought the location marks for the headlights would show through the paint and while one was faint, the other disappeared. Same for the tail lights, the instructions said to drill out the holes indicated under the body, but there were none. There was locating holes for the door handles which I really appreciated. A little more prep before painting would save me a lot of headaches. Thanks for the advice!
