Build a better Bob Glidden Motorcraft 1:24th
dragcarz replied to TheBEAUMONTGURU's topic in Drag Racing
Beautiful build! I love the detail. I’ve been trying to step up my detailing, fuel lines and carb linkage still evade my skill level. Really nice work DA. -
Beautiful builds!

Thanks Terry! Probably my OCD, or maybe my ADHD , one of those acronyms I probably have, but have never been actually diagnosed with. It’s still not perfect and probably never will be, but it’s much closer to what was in my head when I started this project. You know what I’m talking about, too many of us on here suffer from the same disease.

Your killin me here Ron… lol, crazy thing is the ladder bars fit the first time, I had to move the axle back to get the rear wheels centered in the opening after changing the rear wheels. I think I have a fix for it, and I’ll keep you posted. You didn’t point out anything that wasn’t true, and I believe you can only be offended if you choose to be.

1962 Corvette street/strip build (replica)

I’m looking forward to this build! -
Your build looks good! And you are right the kit leaves a lot to be desired. It seem to me that someone on the forum was trying to build an accurate Multi Maverick a couple years back, I don’t know if he ever finished it or not.

I know I already posted this but I couldn’t leave it as it was. After working on this for 11 months, and trying to rush to finish it for the ACME show, I was burnt out, and frustrated with this build and put it on the shelf. Ron Thorne commented on a couple items that were not completed or correct and that was what I needed to motivate me to make it right. So for the last three days snowed in, in Georgia, I tried to correct a few things. You may not remember but the rear wheels were resin and I almost destroyed them by stripping the Molotow Chrome off after it didn’t turn out. The 91% alcohol melted the resin, a first for me. So I replaced the rear wheels with modified parts box wheels. My first attempts at the drive shaft loops was a major fail, and I tried to make a crossmember/ drive shaft loop with no luck. This time the first attempt worked. Under the hood I’ve added the brake master cylinder with brake lines you can’t see, the inner fenders, the coil, and the dry sump oil lines. I also added the rear Shocks, the rack and pinion steering, and I added hood pins to the trunk and hood. Thanks Ron! I’m feeling much better with the results now!

That was probably the most accurate funny car kit produced in the early 70s, and it’s really overlooked a lot. You did an amazing job! Just Beautiful! Super Clean build!
