dragcarz replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think the new cars are alot better looking than the COT, Personally I hope Revell/Monogram jumps on board and kits some, Im ready for something new -
Thanks Brett, You made me smile, love seeing all those built drag cars . You have a great display cabinet also.
 -
Hey Bret, how about a photo of your display case / shelf

Wow Great builds, hanks for sharing

Chrysler also used Pinion Snubbers, this was a bracket that bolted to the top of the third member with a rubber snubber that would contact with the floor pan under hard acceleration, acting like a lever, planting the tires harder onto the ground.

				Hey Cool Model Car Dudes!

Welcome Marty from another kinda old guy -
I'm supposing your talking about Funny car Bodies, here's the Revell body I modified by shortening the rear wheel openings almost a 1/4 inch and using the monogram slicks. To me it helped the look tremendously, On my next Monza build I will also add material to the rocker panels as the body seems narrow, could be because the shorter rear wheel opening lengthened the side profile.

	Looks great so far

Heres a 73-75 Duster body I got off E-Bay, unknown maker, While they got the hood and front end right the overall detail and body lins are from soft to nonesistent. note the short deck is also pretty close. I ll probably start modifying the Revell body.

Some of the stuff Ive collected over the years, My favorite has to be the work bench, I have no clue where it came from...any clues?....it did have a spotlight moulded to the top, and it looked very unrealistic so I shaved it off. My plans are to include it in my MRC Texaco station. I also really like the face mask.... dont know where this came from either. -
I'm going to give this a shot, I have nothing to loose. I've just not been very successful in my prio attempts. I;ll keep you posted.

Bill, Thanks for clear explanation, I'm trying to learn some new skills. -
Great work Drew, as usual, you've captured the essence of this car, I would recognize it as Garlets car even without the decals. thanks for posting.

Hi Bill....Just a question, Keep in mind I dont build anything near the calibur of your builds and have never hinged anything, Is there a reason the brass hinge cannot be attached directly to the trunk inner structure, or notches made in the inner structure for the hinges to recess into? The brass hinge seems thin enough to look to accurate in scale,....or are the channels you slid the hinges into just temporary? -
Thanks for the suggestions, I havent had to get a replacement part in a long time, wasnt sure they still did that. Ive Straightened frames before with a twist, and that issue is probably repairable but this one is diamonded, Has anyone tried a microwave to heat a warped part?
 -
A Little disappointed..... Got mine friday at LHS paid $26.97, And the frame is so badly bent and twisted I dont think I can use it
 -
WOW ..... Tyrone, thanks for sharing

Why so many Kits? I've bought every kit with the intention of building it.. some of the older kits were very simplified such as the Johan 63 Dodge Polara, I purchased a Lindbergh Color me Gone 64 Dodge to use under the 63, But I also wanted to build a Color Me Gone 64 Dodge,so now I need at least two kits. Same with Polar Lights, or Revell Funny cars, take one of these kits and any resin Funny Car body, some aftermarket decals and you can replicate any number of early funny cars. I have also passed on kits earlier in my life only to later purchase them at collector prices, and thena couple years later, they reissue the kit and I've got a ton of money tied up in a kit, If I have any interest I try to buy it just in case, if later I decide I'm not going to build it I sell or trade it for something else.
