1/12 tamiya RA 273
Brudda replied to Brudda's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Hello Steverscer. The tires and wheels came from a model factory hiro kit, wheel rims are the centers from the tamiya kit. I seem to be the guy that gets ruined kits that people gave up on. What is strange is that they are very high end kits. Model factory hiro, 1/8 agora and DeAgostini kits. I have a wrecking yard of parts on these kits.,I made a 1/8 GT 500 that was kit bashed from DeAgostini and agora kits. Here is a pic of the kit bashed GT 500 -

1/12 tamiya RA 273
Brudda replied to Brudda's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Hello John. The build is not going to be an accurate build of the ra273. I already changed it to a pearl white instead of the ivory white it is supposed to be. Not going to get to carried away with details. Of course that may change. -
1/12 tamiya RA 273

Hello Rich. The one kit I have is a 1969 kit. So far it does not seem to be different than the newer one. I wish I had the aluminum intakes and the photoetch set. I’m going to make it with what I have. I used citadel primer from the gaming industry. Works great but it is expensive. Thought I would try it. Automotive paint, a pearl white toner. And a urethane clear. The decals are from indycals. Super decals. Only thing is you have to cut them out. The color looks silver at night, -

Hello Chris. Yes it has those fragile links. -
Hello. This is a RA 273 Honda f1 car. Nothing really special. Had an incomplete kit from years ago. Found another incomplete kit that had the missing parts I needed. Then I looked at the tires. Both sets were garbage. For some strange reason I seem to be the guy who gets kits that are messed up that people gave up on. And another strange thing these kits are high end. 1/8 Agora and DeAgostini kits, model factory hiro and tamiya kits. I have like a wrecking yard of parts. So I put together the parts to build a complete Honda f1 kit. I am using model factory hiro wheel rims and tires. I shaved the tamiya f1 plastic wheels to fit the mfh wheels. So now I have a really nice set of wheels for the f1 car. Now this is not going to be an accurate build of the Honda f1 car. It will be close. Just because I might have to make or find parts and other things. For instance, The paint is supposed to be like an ivory or Wimbledon white, but I have a pearl white in stock , so I will use that. It’s not going to be exactly correct, but it will look ok. Here we go…..p.s. I have a complete set of new decals from indycals. They look really good.

Claude your paint jobs are what I try to copy. I look up to your builds and standards of models. Actually I’m a new guy compared to most here in the forum. Still learning. I wish I had the imagination of your builds and to me your the chip foose of models. One day I would like to make my own car design and model it. But I still have a lot to learn so it will not be anytime soon. Great job and I will be looking for the next CT design.

How Important is Box Art
Brudda replied to Biggu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I model mostly model factory hiro kits and there is no box art. So it really means nothing to me. But when I was a kid, the IMC kits looked really cool. Even if I could not come close to building one at that time, but as a kid, it was beautiful. -
What is your Favourite Classic Car?
Brudda replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes -
I started modeling when I was young . Mom was cooking and I loved cars so I loved modeling. My mom passed when I was very young. So I had to grow up fast. No more modeling, had to fill in as much as possible for my pop. So no time to model, 12 years ago I had a stroke. Took 6 months for rehabilitation. For fine motor skills I asked my Dr. if building models counted. He said yes and I had to show him the finished model to pass /sign off on my fine motor skills. So this is how I started to model as an adult. I really liked modeling and have not stopped. I have met the coolest people in modeling and will not stop modeling. It’s just super fun, and it reminds me when my mom was alive. I put on old tunes and just model. Relaxes me and it’s the perfect stress relief.

Ace at guy is right, buy what you like. Cool cars will always be cool. New or old. It’s what your budget will handle. If you buy what you like , enjoy driving the heck out of it and if you profit from it when you get tired of it consider yourself lucky. I always bought what I like, and I was very lucky when selling. I bought my first car during the gas crunch, a 1970 boss 302 which went for cheap because of the gas crisis. $2300. Sold it years later for $4800. Got lucky. But I enjoyed the heck out of her. My next car was a 1966 GT 350 Shelby, bought it for $800 . It was crashed in the front but I fixed it, kept it for 36 years and sold her for over $100,000. This is when I learned about capital gains tax, so I have been very lucky, but it’s just luck, I bought what I liked and did not care if I made a profit or not. Same goes for my SUV’s bought them at a high price and they are worth nothing now. But they serve their purpose. Lesson is, buy what you like and don’t go for the investment garbage. If it turns out great , fantastic, if it doesn’t at least you enjoyed the drive.

Thank you Claude. You will love trim black. I used it on the 1/12 mfh black cobra interior and it turned out pretty good.
