Where do they go?
rmvw guy replied to moparmagiclives's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I GOT REALLY EXCITED! Just now when I saw the Big T above by Pharoah. I've been holding off building this one for a while looking for a way to display it when finished. I love looking at these big scale models. I had the Big T as a kid displayed on top of my dresser. Now I don't even have a dresser! -
How much $ do you put in a kit?
rmvw guy replied to pandamonium2112's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love Crazy Girl's comments above. I wish I had the resources to just dive in and do what she is doing, and so soon. I have been watching her with interest. I have been building model cars since 1960 when I was 9 years old. My first after market part was this year, a skull gear shift knob from Scale Dreams. Most of my models have been box stock or with parts sourced from other kits. I did buy one after market distributor after which I decided I could make my own. Besides paint, glue, and a little BMF that's about it. I love all the tips I pick up on here and truly do admire all the billet parts and details from the after market. I could spend a thousand dollars easily from the Micro Mark catalog. So far I have only ordered decal paper and a paint mixer tool. -
Almost perfect, of course they never are. I love the weathering and the minimal one tail light. Also the single fog lamp is a nice touch.

The Pharaoh's Patina
rmvw guy replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I love the patina Doc, glad to see you back in your element. I love the "hours of pure pleasure" you describe. The first pictures of your paint looked perfect to me, then it just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for entertaining us. I was just wondering how many '50 Chevy pickups you have built? I never get tired of seeing them. -

Shot some paint on it yesterday, now I guess I need to get busy building the rest of the model. Here's some pictures. -

The MADMAN '55 is moving along, here's my latest photos. -
Pretty complex set-up, it looks like a long term project. I love the banking on the track. I started a similar set up back around the same time. My son, around 4 or 5 at the time, played King Kong and stepped on all my buildings destroying them. I soon gave up on the trains when all the kids wanted to do is race them and moved on to just HO racing. Really mine was nothing like yours, i just wish it was.

More please!!! Everything so far I have found true. I purchased Printshop 2.0 thinking I had Photoshop, what a costly mistake. I then purchased Testors Decal Maker and have been using this. Have you ever tried the Testors program and if so, is Photoshop way better? I have the more advanced program that can import images.

Nice work Harry in Photoshop, I always loved those old ornaments, what a beauty!

That's fantastic Blair, I love it!

I think I've got mine pretty well sorted into albums and updated now. All the new one's I will put in albums from now on, I think that was part of my problem they were all in one bucket. (pun intended) I like the NEW Photobucket now, best part it's still free for limited use. Who knows what that means but, I did find out I had only used about 24%. Question now is, is it worth it to go back to all your posts to check and see if your pictures are there? I find that most of the time people quit commenting on mine after about a week. I never have checked how many views there are after that. Or should I go back just a little and check? I spent one entire evening on photobucket I think.

Let's Go Surfin'
rmvw guy replied to TLes's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I like it Tom, I've got to get one. Not that I don't have enough to build already. -
I really like this one Tom, it looks way better in person. Is this one that you dropped at the library? If so congratulations on getting it back together.

34 towtruck
rmvw guy replied to bpletcher55's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I love it Blair! You've inspired me to add a boom to one of my '34s. I never did like the hand crank, ( except when I was a kid and I used thread for the cable). It looks like what you did is simple enough for me to give it a try. -
It's going to be a great looking hot rod. It's good to see some of the Rat Roaster parts show up on other projects so soon. The engine is awesome. I also love your seats and interior.
-
I've been using it on most of my projects for the last 3 years. What I like about it, it is very forgiving. Even after it's been on a part for a while you can pee it off. Nice tip!

Thanks for the new pictures. I wanted to see the boom closer. It looks like you added a battery and electric motor? -
Contrary to what everyone is saying here, I'm trying to narrow my limits on what I build. I am running out of room for one thing. I only build what I like and that is mostly cars and trucks from the '20s thru '50s and some '60s, I build mostly Fords and Chevys . Something different for me would be a Chrysler product and I do have a few in my stash. I do love the Hudsons and of course VWs.

Just a little primer and now a little more body work needed. -
How do you display your models?
rmvw guy replied to rmvw guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is exactly the same price at IKEA, $5 a shelf. All the edges are completely smooth and they come with the little pins to mount them. I have had shelves made locally in the past and they charged extra for sanding edges smooth and still they weren't completely smooth. Just a caution. -
Thanks again Harry, I guess I will just have to go to Photobucket and try a few times. I think I have been in too much of a hurry on their site, just wanting to get back to the forum with minimal time spent. I'll work on it, thanks again.
-
Thanks Greg, You are right, I am the problem, just don't know what I am doing. I have never used the bulk up-loader and I've never used albums, only once.
-
Thanks Harry, This sounds like what I have been trying to do but, my new photos can only be accessed by clicking "Home" and then they don't show up in the new album. I guess maybe I would have to move them from "Home" to the album selected from this point? I'm confused and afraid I will lose my new posted photos again.
-
I haven't found an easy way to navigate through my 800 and some unorganized photos with the new Photobucket so, I started new folders for all my old builds. I found out the hard way, when you move your photos you lose them off the forum. You would have to re-post them all. I still haven't figured out how to get new photos into a new album either. Why do they always have to change things when I just figure out the old way?
