I used Testors Model Masters Light Gray. I had a friend of mine spray it with his airbrush, & I told him to "clear coat it". Guess i wasn't specific enough. I should have applyed another coat of clear gloss before I added the decals. Oh well, live & learn!

Sounds interesting. The Revell of Germany Kenworth W900 is a 1972-82 truck. If you need something more modern (like a W900B), Gary Wallace of GW Trucks has a W900B cab kit & a modern dump body. You can contact him at gwtrucks@yahoo.com. The AMT kits are all 1970s vintage trucks.

First, your Diamond-REO looks really nice. The licenses plates should be on the front, not the back. Anyway, a dump truck? Well, there are a couple of dump truck kits out there: the AMT Autocar DC9964, International PayStar5000, & Ford LNT8000 come to mind. You might have to scour eBay to find them, though. To make one you could use the Diamond-REO that you just built (well, another kit, not that ONE), the AMT GMC General, AMT Chevrolet Bison, AMT Mack DM600, DM800, & R600. I've also seen Peterbilt 359 & Kenworth W900 dumps (Revell of Germany makes a W900 dump). Depending on what time frame, and what appeals to you just about any kit can be made in to a dump. Although the Kenworth T600 and International ProStar or LoneStar probably won't make very good dump trucks. Here is a good reference site: http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/ Have fun!

Thanks. The Italeri Volvo VN780 doesn't have an engine per say, but I just needed to know what to paint that engine looking thing that's in between the frame rails.

Ok, so here's another question: what color would a Volvo engine be in a 2002 VN780? I know these also came with the Cummins ISX, which would be red.

Green? I thought those were gray. Weren't the Mack gasoline (Thermodyne) engines green?

From what I've gathered, there were only a few manufacturers that had engines painted other that OEM colors. Kenworth & Peterbilt used white & International used red. Yes, Mack engines were gold, but only the Mack engines & transmissions. Other manufacturer engine installed into Macks were OEM color (Cummins Beige, Caterpillar Yellow, or Detroit Diesel Alpine Green).

Personally, I'd go tan & brown (because that's what I did); but it's really up to you.

Yes, I discovers that, too. I'm not sure if it's the axle is too far forward, or the hood is too far back. The front of the hood doesn't line up with the bumper, either. Gives it a litte bit of an under-bite look.

Should be an interesting project. You might consider making sure you have access to the hull so you can add additional ballast if you need to. It might end up being top-heavy once you add the rigging & sails. Good luck, & looking forward to progress.

So, I scored this Italeri IVECO Stralis the other day from Hobby Link, and I got a great deal. It was only $40! Now that I have the kit, can anyone tell me a little bit about this truck? I'm not that familiar with European trucks. I just got it because it looks cool. What year is it? Does anyone know what type of engine is in the kit truck? Inquiring minds want to know! I was thinking of doing in in the Monjean Transporte livery: Maybe Italeri will come out with an IVECO Strator one of these days. Nah!

Great looking plane. You don't see to much Austro-Hungarian WWI stuff; mostly German. The finish is interesting. I can't decide if it looks like wood or leather.
