So I'm not normally a "big truck" builder...
Jim B replied to JTalmage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
These Ford kits build up nicely. Like Terry, I've not built this particular kit, but I have built the LN8000 Short Hauler. Here's a link to an article about detailing the 3208 (or V200 as Ford called them): http://public.fotki.com/modeltrucks25thscale/model_magazine_articles/car_modeller/cm09_sept_1991_cate/ Of course, if you're going to put all that time & effort into the engine, you'll need to hinge the hood! Here's mine that I painted Ford Blue (period correct): -
List of big rig truck engines in kits

Your best starting point for a Cummins ISX is probably the Auslowe Cummins Signature 600: http://www.auslowe.com.au/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=281&category_id=16&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=27 -

Great job! I like the color. It's really coming together nicely. -
1/14 lowboy trailer , mostly scratch
Jim B replied to semijoe's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
That's really impressive, Joe. What does it hook to? Are you planning on a load of some sorts? -
mercedes actros megaspace
Jim B replied to jacobus's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
It has to do with the very strict overall length laws in Europe as opposed to the US & Canada. Once the length laws changed here in the US, cab-overs just about went extinct. You can still find them, but they are few & far between. Wal-Mart is supposed to be experimenting with a Freightliner Argosy & a 60ft trailer combination; but I think that's mostly out West. -
MENG 1/24 Ford F350 Super Duty Crew Cab: Sneak Peek Pics!

So, what's the major, work-stoping issue? Inquireing minds want to know. -
mercedes actros megaspace
Jim B replied to jacobus's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I do like it. That's a very nice looking Actros. -
Tom, I'm inclined to agree: Moebius is our logical choice for new US kits. Round2 & Revell are happy doing reissues; and Italeri seems to be reissuing kits & making new European trucks (and that's not a bad thing).

Wonder if it's going to have the "LoadCraft" logos?

Thanks, Joe. They sure are. -
The kit that I built was the Steven's International reissue, and that only had the Alcoas & the round tanks.

Pretty much done 352
Jim B replied to Modelcollector's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice looking 352. -
Mark, the APA logos came from Jerry @ Model Truckin'. As for the New Jersey plate, I got it from either The Plate Shack ( http://www.plateshack.com/ ) or Jim Moini's License Plates ( http://moini.net/ ). I can't remember. PM me your email address, and I'll send you want I have. The Mack R-model was a really nice kit to build.

Thanks, guys. Yes, they are tiny! Here that are on my build mat: So you know, those are 1" squares. No, Tom, I build just about anything. Here's a 1/700 destroyer I did a couple of years ago. It's the USS Fletcher DD992, 1991 fit: -
So here's a little project I've been working on in my "spare" time. It's a pair of Sweet Aviation Models 1/144 Macchi C200AS "Saetta". Here is where I currently stand: This is from the 85° Sqadriglia 18° Gruppo Autonomo, Lybia 1942 (I'm calling this one Flight Lead because of the white wing tips & the radio antenna): And this is from the 364° Sqadriglia 150° Gruppo Autonomo, North Africa 1942:

Stallone´s "Over The Top" Autocar?
Jim B replied to Stuntman Mike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ok, so I don't want to ruin the movie for anybody, but what about the White/GMC that he wins at the end of the film? -
Thanks, I'm glad you like them. I don't have a set of doubles to hook to it, so I usually use the external post van.

Sorry about that! I was on my phone When I posted that. Here's the R685ST: And here's the Cruiseliner: And here"s the pair of "single stack Macks": Hope you enjoy them. Oh, happy birthday!

1955 Ford F-800 Mobiloil-Mobilgas Tanker
Jim B replied to Plastheniker's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
In 1955, the Ford F800 had a 317 cid Lincoln Y-Block rated at 155 hp at 3900 rmp.
