  1. That's the look I was going for. It's pretty close.
  2. Glad you guys like it. Took me a while to figure out how to make those pulleys.
  3. Thanks. Sort of gives it that Midwest look.
  4. Thanks for the info. That validifies me using a Crackerbox; now I just have to find one. Oh, well, no rush I guess. I do have a Diamond Reo C-11664DFL that I could use, though.
  5. So, in between a couple of other projects, I managed to finish my 1975 Wilson livestock trailer. Like most of my builds it's basicaly box-stock with a couple of add-ons. The finish is Dupli-Color Bumper Chrome, and the decals are from Model Express. I swapped out the spokes for some chrome disks, and added some Plaskit wheel hubs. I replaced the "wood" roll-up door with a "metal" one, and added a pulley system to raise the door. No, it doesn't actually work. The spare tire is from the parts box, and I added a pulley system to this as well. This doesn't work either. Not sure what happened with the close-up pic. Looks like the camers focused on the house in the background instead of the trailer. I haven't decided on a dedicated tractor yet. I was thinking of either this one, a GMC Crackerbox with a Detroit Diesel 6-71, or a Dodge LVT1000 with a 8V71. Not sure, but it does look good with the Astro!
  6. Mark Savage built a GMC Astro logger using the AMT Peerless Log Trailer back in the 1970s. There's a picture of it in the stowed position in "Collecting & Building Model Trucks" by Lou Kroack. I've also seen this trailer stowed on the Freightliner COE. So, yes, it should work; though you might have to adjust the headache rack a little.
  7. Nice mixer! I like it.
  8. I'm pretty sure Dave Carey (cargostar) offers the LoneStar daycab conversion. He's a member here, so check with him. As for the Kenworth, it sounds like it could either be a W900S or a T800. If it has a set back front axle, it's probably a T800. For that conversion, I'd check with Gary Wallace over at GW Trucks (gwtrucks@yahoo.com). He has the T800, T800W, T800H, & W900S conversions. They're about a mid-1990s cabb.
  9. Great job. You did a really nice job on this combination.
  10. Tamiya Metalic Blue is a good match for the blue that International/Navistar uses on their MaxxForce engines.
  11. Nice decals. So you know, Jim Botatis is a member here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showuser=7662
  12. Thanks, guys. I think I'm going to use some pinstripe decals from Micro-Scale for the tiny blue stripes. We'll see how ot works out. Since I'm goinf to be using Tamiya paint on this one, and not Dupli-Color automotive paint, I'm thinking bleed through won't be an issue either. Well, at least I'm hoping!
  13. Interesting idea. Is this the Lindberg 1/20 kit?
  14. Communication is sometimes a big problem with "some" of them.
  15. Good luck with that!
  16. Where are you getting spray paint for 96 cents?
  17. Very nice. I like what you've done with the Transtar. And that's a really long nosed Transtar! Did they even come that big from the factory?
  18. That's a mighty fine wrecker. Sort of inspires me to finish my W900 tractor. Maybe I should think about picking up this kit.
  19. That's one good looking Cornbinder!!! Very clean.
  20. That's really sweet! I like it a lot. Might have to get one in the near future for a W900.
  21. No, just the exhaust stack itself, not the muffler. I checked one of the K123 kits I have in my stash, and those are tough seams to get rid of on the muffler. Only thing I can suggest is to mut masking tape on both sides of the seam to minimize damage when you are filling & sanding.
  22. Are you talking about the seam on the stack itself, or on the muffler guard? For the stack itself, don't worry about the seam, and just slip some 3/16" aluminum tubing over the stack.
  23. Very interesting. I, too, like the "then & now" with the original General and a new General. Very cool. Your cars (like most 1/25 cars) are only missing one thing: drivers! Nice job all around. Darn gophers!
