  1. Wow! You have used this kit as a base to make your own creation, and it looks great.
  2. That's interesting, Charlie. Exactly that happened the last time I thinned a square bottle with lacquer thinner. My airbrush was shooting chunks. It seems like it also depends on color. I thinned Metallic Blue with lacquer thinner a few years ago, and it worked beautifully. The chunks came with Sublime. Also, lacquer thinner seems to turn MM semi-gloss black into flat. I've gone back to using Testors thinner, no issues there.
  3. Looks great, Thomas.
  4. The Revell '32 Five Window Coupe has a 5.0L EFI in it. Plus you can still build that kit with the remaining Hemi.
  5. Very, very nice. Great job on the crew conversion!
  6. Thanks, Thomas.
  7. That's a good attitude. BTW, those spark plugs and the boots look really nice. Are they both from rbmotion?
  8. Re: evapo-rust- Sounds pretty cool, and I found some local places that have it. Thanks!
  9. But you've completely destroyed its value as a collectible! Just kidding! It looks great. Having restored a few to "not pretty but fully functional" condition, l have a good idea how much work you put into it. That is some major rust removal. Did you replate the cap iron or just clean and polish it? Either way, nice job. Now go make some shavings!
  10. You're doing nice work, Thomas. One thing: the spark plugs on a hemi are down inside the valve covers. In Andy's photo, you can see that there is just a rubber boot and the wire going into the valve cover.
  11. Thanks, Rob. I will check it out.
  12. Mike, if you would like a piece of actual wood veneer that you could photograph and resize, or use as is, just let me know. I have a ton of the stuff in many different species, including teak.
  13. Way cool, Rob. Love the license plate!
  14. Thanks, Miles. The model is painted with Testors enamel. Any chance the Krylon would be too hot to go over it? Is that what you used on your Scout and Datsun?
  15. Thanks guys. I do have a set of pastels, as well as regular blackboard chalk. I can play around with that, especially since I can wash it off if/when I need to. If I get a look I want, how do I make it permanent? Mike and Mike suggested a semi-gloss clear. Any suggestions about a good one to use? I do have an airbrush if that helps.
  16. Thanks Miles and Mike. I think I would like to stay away from Dullcote if possible. I want the car to look faded, but not "flat" overall. Is there some other sealer for the powders that might work? How about Future? Or how about a very thin white/gray wash?
  17. That is awesome! I love the way you used wheels, etc. for other purposes. The weathering is perfect. Very creative and cool!
  18. I'm looking for advice on how to make a car body look used. I'm not looking for "rusty and crusty". I want it to look like a 5-6 year old car where the paint's a little faded and it hasn't been washed in a while. I've started by rubbing out the paint to a sort of semi-gloss level (3600 grit paper and a white abrasive pad). That looks pretty good, but I'd like to add some dust, and smears from rain. Maybe dirty up the windows a bit too. I'm thinking of using the dull side of aluminum foil instead of BMF for the trim. Any suggestions? Edit: I should add that I want the car to look like it is driven daily, not sitting and collecting dust, leaves, etc.
  19. Hard to pick just one, but I think maybe this:
  20. Thanks for posting these WIPs, Harry. Both this and your Woody are really fun to watch. It's great to see what can be accomplished by someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. I'll never be able to afford a Pocher kit, but the techniques and attitude you show could be used for any model.
  21. Fantastic job! I followed your WIP and I knew this would turn out awesome. It did!
