  1. I'm still keen on one of these, although I cant work out why my previous posts in this thread have all be deleted???
  2. That's not a SAR mate, as previously mentioned the SAR was an Australian built truck, Short Australian Righthand drive is what SAR stands for. They came out after the S models.
  3. I've managed to get hold of the Ice Patrol and Billy Carter pick up's recently and for decent prices.
  4. great little build with lots of nice details and superb weathering.
  5. Yeah we're not all cheap, if I want something I'll happily pay for it. Revell kits are around the $35-50 mark here in Australia depending where you shop, Tamiya around the $50-70 mark. More expensive than the states, but we earn more so I guess it levels out sort of. I buy a lot of old MPC and van kits off ebay and pay the freight from the US which is usually around the $25-30 mark and it doesn't worry me, if I want it, I'll pay for it. I'm just amazed how many sellers wont ship outside the US. I don't think the cost of a kit would turn that many off, if it was a decent subject, accurate and a quality kit the majority would buy it even if it was more expensive.
  6. The original question is based on if the builder really worries about other peoples opinions. I've had my builds featured in Australian model magazines and on the covers also and I still build to my tastes and standards, I try to make each model better than the last but I do this for myself not for anyone else or because I feel obligated to do so to satisfy anyone else. I enjoy looking at everyone's builds regardless of quality at shows, I never get overly critical as you never know the builders circumstances. Some builds that make magazines do have noticeable mistakes but generally when you see a feature in a magazine the pictures are bigger than the item would be in actual size so the mistakes get magnified and exaggerated. The mistakes you see in a magazine mightn't even be noticeable if you were viewing the actual model on a table in front of you. While it's nice to view the elite level in magazines to try and maybe get ideas and tips for future builds it's also nice that other builders get coverage too. It provides encouragement for the middle fielders of the hobby, and the hobby needs this type of encouragement. If you're not building for your own enjoyment you probably need to find a new hobby.
  7. Never seen a long wheel base one of these here in Australia, plenty of short ones though. Pity they didn't make the short wheelbase 1200 utes we got. My mate picked up a good one for $300 about 12 months ago, they are cool little utes.
  8. Great weathering on this one. Was it done with the salt method?
  9. Great box art replica build. Very cool. Did you use the original decals or get them remade?
  10. I bought a resin body off him on ebay and had it in around 10 days shipped to Australia, so he was good to deal with in our transaction.
  11. A9X Torana sedan was a better looking car IMO, but the prices people pay for an XY GTHO is scary, but I guess in '71 they were the world's fastest four door sedan. A lot of our factory racers down here were four doors, GT Fords, L34 and A9X Toranas, Brock Commodores all great looking cars.
  12. Holden van "Invader 2001", featured gullwing doors built in the 80's by a mate of mine.
  13. Watched the first episode, pretty cool old show and truck but I wonder how they made a living when they just drive around visiting people.
