2WD 1972 Chevy Blazer
jdhog replied to jdhog's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I can relate. I used a hairdryer to heat it and gently straighten it. I worked on it slowly and had it pretty good and straight. By the time I got ready to mount it, it had re-warped itself a bit. I ended up gluing it to the truck and put some weight on top to hold it. Still didn't end up perfect. -

Nice job. I recently picked up this kit and it is my queue. You made a great looking Bronco!

My attempt at a 2WD Chevy Blazer conversion. I hacked up the chassis from the AMT C-1500 kit. Used the V8 out of that kit as well. It's a turd. Fought me the whole way with warpage and flash. Not my best job, but I'm proud that I stuck with it and "finished" it. I would show the undercarriage, but the turd would probably fall apart. It's resting on my shelf now where it will be until my kid or cat knocks it off.

Thanks man. I appreciate the offer, but I have the Jimmy kit also. I'll check that one out if I can't fix this one. Heck, I might go topless. -
Two wheel drive 72 Blazer
jdhog replied to jdhog's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Decided on rally wheels from the C-1500 kit. Going with a no trim smooth look. Fighting with the ghosting but I think I've got it gone. The top is badly warped. Going to have to give that attention. Going to use the 350 out of the C-1500 kit. -
Two wheel drive 72 Blazer
jdhog replied to jdhog's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yeah, I agree. I had an '84 Vette years ago. I've tried to add those style wheels to multiple builds, but they never look right. -
Thanks dudes. I'm going to give it a whirl.

Sorry if this has been discussed. How to you folks handle the ghosting you get when a hood has the recessed areas underneath for cutting out a hole? Seems like it always shows through after paint. I'm thinking of a thin layer of glazing putty. Looking for professional advice.
