Farrari "Testa Rossa" head wrinkle paint help
64SS350 replied to BWDenver's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Interesting question. Just thinking out of the box, what if a guy has an airbrush media blaster(ie: Harbor Freight) and experimented with different medias on the plastic. Then lightly airbrushed desired color and sheen? Never thought about it until now, may have to try it some day. -
Making my paint booth from galv. sheet metal
64SS350 replied to 64SS350's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Small update, added some "baffles" in the corners for better flow and got the mount located for the blower. Sorry, guess I didn't take pics of the baffles. -
Resin 64 Chevy Crew Cab Pickup
64SS350 replied to 64SS350's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Finally an update. Engine is started for the boat, need to make some aluminum velocity stacks. Finally chromed the wheels with SMS Hyperchrome. Turned out pretty good for the first go. -
Super quick test ...BRUSHED on a fog light over white. Like others, super thin, shows any imperfections, but VERY chrome like! Comes with an aqua clear, but I saw that it reduces the shine. Supposed to dry for 72 hrs., durability test after that.

Marvel's Hydra coupe 1/12 scale full scratch build
64SS350 replied to François's topic in WIP: Model Cars
To build this piece from scratch, while understanding the engineering, design, and execution of it all, via a 3D print system....is amazing in itself! I haven't yet dove into printing, but I may contact you for advice if I do!! The added touches... like the leather on the seats....wow! Again..keep it up!! -
Marvel's Hydra coupe 1/12 scale full scratch build
64SS350 replied to François's topic in WIP: Model Cars
This build is amazing. From the engineering of the parts, fit, and functionality. Might I suggest though, sanding and filling some parts to eliminate the printing layer lines before painting? Keep it going, looking forward to more progress! -
Looks like an old Boyd wheel or Dodge PU?

My first try at making molding was for some side trim. I used a scriber and a straight edge to clean out the middle of some flat styrene. (pics 1-2) My second method is cutting a shape into the edge of a razor blade and scraping along the flat styrene. Guides are sometimes helpful and or needed.(pics 3-4)

This arrived today, a bit worse for the wear. Came wrapped well in bubble wrap and only a plastic mailing bag. Kit seems unharmed. Also, engine was started, which wasn't stated or shown in pics.

If it's something you might do more of, I would consider buying styrene from the guy on eBay. It's more pliable to make bends with and it holds the shape. Here's some examples...

Making my paint booth from galv. sheet metal
64SS350 replied to 64SS350's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Made a pair of brackets for the blower/hose connection. My idea was to mount 1 lower for the bucket filter, and 1 higher if I end up venting to a window. They need to trimmed a bit yet, but you get the picture. -

I have some small tube lights from a unit I built before, or some type of LED.
