Truck Kits You've Scored Recently
64SS350 replied to Superpeterbilt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got several mixed boxes of truck kits last week. One is the ERTL gravel trailer.dump box..Kit no.8020. Does anyone know if this kit came with the optional red Mack tandem fenders as an option? Thanks, Karl -

I think the thrift stores are checking online prices, I've noticed many things in those stores are pretty steep if new or close to it. On Monday I brought home my second truck load of kits, parts and some diecast....anyone like aircraft??

DECANTING QUESTION - BIG 3 LACQUER-MAKERS
64SS350 replied to fseva's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I read on here once a guy turned the can upside down to release all pressured gas and then drilled a hole in the bottom to pour out the paint. Now I don't know if the paint would still have gasses in it or not since it wasn't decanted, or but from simply being in the can together.?? -
Thanks guys, learning and applying what I pick up from everyone on here!

Here's my progress on the Gremlin, 1968 Vette chassis, Prowler V-6 for fuel efficiency, extra fuel tank for the long haul.
-
Telephone wire has several strands individually wrapped inside, try that.
-
The only progress on the Gremlin is body and frame being sanded. The van, I'm still deciding on which chassis to truly use.

What is the web site for OEM paint colors
64SS350 replied to jw78z28's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just a thought, I have gone to my local automotive paint store and they mixed a half pint for$9, he said he could mix as little as 4oz. I noticed scale finishes was asking $12.50 for 2oz. -
laying paint into a grill, help
64SS350 replied to jacoballardtattoo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I usually use a toothpick to lay it in, and a Q-tip or Tamiya tip to remove excess -
WRP(Wilde Racing Products) makes nice hood scoops of styrene, 1 pr. for like $4. I use them a lot. I also use the two part glazing and the MMD green putty on my builds, judge for yourself. Well , I've tried several times and methods to upload some pics for you, but to no avail, I'm still having issues with file size and Photobucket. If you want to see some of these as finished, PM your email. Karl

Looks great! Just a thought to watch for during testing, Being as the cabinet is plastic, it may tend to have static issues. I used MDF board for mine and the vac system created a fair amount of static during painting. Make sure the motor is grounded also. Awesome idea, keep us updated!

keeping suspension level
64SS350 replied to 97Dustang's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Maybe check before you start to see if the chassis base is true and flat, it could have a twist in it straight out of the box. If so, use some of the techniques discussed here to straighten it. Also check your suspension parts for the same issues. -
Polished aluminum look

I haven't tried this, but what about the Metalizer paints, they have a variety of metal finishes and some can be buffed. -
Thanks, that looks great! Thanks to you both!

Curious as to what others have done to 'fix' or remedy the grill section not fitting to the fender width. Push out the fenders and add to the hood or is there enough material to properly some how section the grill section? Thanks, Karl

Coyote - Hardcastle & McCormick - kit re-build
64SS350 replied to Jeremy Jon's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That would be a nice idea! -
I've been debating these for awhile now, but I better get them entered before DaveM takes all my ideas! LOL. A VW van with Vette chassis and a Gremlin.
