Actually, that final caution was caused by the #38 that pushed into BK. Racing incident is all. Great looking build. Stance is perfect.

A100 Super Gas....Updated 12/12/18
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
A reasonably small update. I was able to open the exhaust holes in the side of the body along with getting some color and assembly started on the engine. I also scratched a set of wheelie bars. -
To the best of my knowledge the stars along the roof and hood are only present on the restored/replica car from a few years back. I don't believe that there were any starts on the original paint schemes.
-
This is the closest shot that I have showing a portion of the rear of the car. It's the stretched car but should be the same as the earlier version. My best guess would be that the blue stripe wraps completely up and over the trunk area.

Great looking build.

Awesome work Tim. The level of detail is staggering. One day I just may have to venture into the machining realm just so I can keep up with some of you guys.

70.5 Pro Mod Camaro...updated 11/09/18

When it comes to spraying clear I always try to spray in the cleanest environment possible to avoid those types of issues. Trust me when I say that it doesn't always come out looking this good. I usually have to wet sand the final coat to smooth it out better. This time it's looking like I won't have to touch it. Believe it or not I do all of my spraying in my garage with all doors open for better ventilation along with a decent sized box fan going at my back while I'm spraying to help keep any stray particles from settling. -

70.5 Pro Mod Camaro...updated 11/09/18

Finally got back to work on this one along with all of the other projects that I'm working on. Just bouncing from one build to the next based on what's needed at the time. This one has been sitting in the background for the past few months so I finally went ahead and got the clear coat added. This is my first time using PPG Diamond Coat clear. Happy with the results so far. -
The Going Places them is quite intriguing. It will be interesting to see how many unique builds are done for that theme. If enough research is done you can find some unusual subjects that fit the theme or some not so unusual subjects that you never would have considered.

'66 Chevy II Nova Pro Mod...Its A Wrap
1320wayne replied to Mister Twister's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Great to see something new from You Daryl. It's been far too long. Excited to see more new stuff down the road. -
I'm currently suffering from M.A.D.D.. No..........it's not mothers against drunk driving. It's modelers attention deficit disorder. While working on one project I start to think about another one that has been on the waiting list for so long. And to curb the enthusiasm I slide that build aside and get started on another. This is a relatively out of the box style build that shouldn't take much time to complete. Not a lot of added detail other than the needed adjustments to a Revell f/c kit to make it sit better and an older Good Stuff resin body for a more accurate look. I'm using the aforementioned Revell funny car kit along with the resin body and a set of superb Chuck Boerner decals. So far, in the past week, I've been able to get the stance mocked up, body and chassis painted and a start on the decals.

A100 Super Gas....Updated 12/12/18
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Got a lot more done on the A100. Chassis is all painted along with some home computer generated carbon fiber decals. Both doors are hinged and the tires and wheels are painted and installed. I also created a bed cover. More coming soon. -
Very nice build. Your idea is not too far from what Christine morphed into later in life.

Best options for Gene Snow Dodge Charger metallic red
1320wayne replied to DanR's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
His early to mid 70"s Chargers ran with four colors. Two different reds and two blues. The reds were what appears to be candy apple red and a bright solid red. Two things to remember; the age of some pics can make the color shade look different than it actually might have been and these race teams back in the day were constantly changing markings and color shades. -
It should be a standard Hilborn injector, however for the sake of accuracy you would probably want to swap in a big block Chevy as that is what he primarily ran in the car. My best guess for a color choice would be Chevrolet Orange engine enamel. It's the closest match that I've been able to come up with.

Bill Elliott 99 QPC McDonald's Taurus...Complete!!
1320wayne replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: NASCAR
This one is now complete. Done as a curbside with the option to come back later and add the engine if need be. Older Three Amigos decals went on great. Also added some small Slixx detail decals for the windows and hood pins along with a newer kit window net and a couple of rooftop antennas made from photo etch and piano wire. -

Clear coat is added and rubbed out to a nice shine and I got the tires and wheels completed and mounted. Still working on the exact ride height. -

Side by side by side Dragster builds...Kemp-Teresi-Sobak
1320wayne replied to ClayK's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
One thing I"ve always found that works for shaping small pieces like this is to use a small block of wood that you can measure and draw out your shape, tap in some brad nails to use as a jig and go about shaping your piece. The hair dryer trick definitely works as it"s usually hot enough to soften but not hot enough to melt. Great job, by the way. -
