  1. Alan, here’s the engine from the Heller Citroen Borden’s Milk truck. Is this the engine you are talking about? My reference picture of a 1:1
  2. It’s been a busy week for me. I did get to sanding the putty in the last photo and spreading some more. Maybe some bench time tomorrow!
  3. It does seem Ollie’s is adding to the stock, so check stores you’ve already been to. On my was home from work Friday, I stopped at the Norristown PA store I had bought kits at a week ago. This week they had 62 Thunderbirds and 55 Chevy Cameos. I had already bought 2 Thunderbirds at the Horsham store so I bought another 3. These have a modern era chassis and drivetrain which I want to use under my early 60s ‘birds. I didn’t buy any Cameos as I already have enough to last a lifetime.
  4. I have no connection to this car but agree with Justin. Here in the US we got the Excel and I was intrigued with a new car for five grand. I went to a local dealer and they had them for a thousand over list and added aftermarket junk like fuzzy seat covers, tape stripes and fog lights to increase the price. I was ticked off at the money grab, left and never looked back. I hadn’t even thought about Hyundai for a long line until I needed to rent an Avis car for a monthly trip from NJ to Syracuse NY. They gave me a Hyundai Elantra and it was a comfortable little car. After a few rentals, I wound up buying a used one for my daily commuter. Cheap enough that I got a two year old one for $12,000 cash with 28,000 miles on it. Four years later I have over 80,000 on it with no trouble at all! I did maintenance and brakes so far. I’ll need tires soon but it’s been a good little buggy!
  5. Guys, same in every hobby! I’m also a stamp collector and big companies have items listed at outrageously prices for years! Someone has to be buying !
  6. Absolutely! If you mess up, peel the tape off and try again!
  7. I like it! Kinda taking a joke to great lengths!
  8. Yes! Back when the Fireball 500 came back to market, people said we’d never see the Hemi Under Glass again since that body was ruined making the Fireball... then that showed up too. The HUG uses the 65 turned 66 Barracuda body which still exists today. The Fireball body indeed came from that 66 Valiant tool. I have an original promo and a few resin copies. They have the same tooling marks on the inside of the body as the Fireball body. It has to be! The Fireball also uses parts from the original 66 Barracuda. The chassis, Hemi engine etc. History of the AMT Valiant too is that the new body style of 1963 got a new tool, that was used as a promo and Craftsman kit. It was updated each year through 1965 with a promo and kit each year. For 1966 AMT indeed did a promo run. This has become a $500 car today and one of the rarest Mopar promos. Why? It wasn’t done as a limited run since examples exist today in several colors. What actually happened is that the car was produced with the wrong roof. It has the 1963-5 roof, where the 66 has a squarer rear window and a different design on the C pillar. I’m not sure if Chrysler changed the design late in the game or if AMT just blew it. But my theory is that Chrysler didn’t accept the shipment and ordered them destroyed. My theory is that the surviving promos were in the initial shipment to Chrysler as ones that have been offered for sale have been described as coming from a Chrysler employee’s collection. Note that this has been a passion of mine so I’ve put a good deal of effort into studying the situation. I’d appreciate any good evidence on the subject.
  9. Since they are restoring old tools.. maybe they could restore the Fireball 500 back to the 66 Valiant promo model?!
  10. Yes! As you peel it off the roll, only one sticky side is open. The red is still on the second side. Place the sticky side on your glass, then peel off the red to expose the other sticky side that you then press into the body.
  11. I think you are correct! Mine must be the Gunze kit.
  12. Super! Glad to hear all is well.
  13. Very nice! I also have this resin and am going to build it as a civilian Vic to replicate our old 3 generation family car. My grandfather bought it new with both my father and I present. It was passed down to my dad when my grandfather stopped driving, then on to me when he died. I drove it for five years.
  14. Been there done that! The whole time thinking it just HAS TO get better ! And remember, no matter how bad a turd ? they laid... somehow it’s somebody’s favorite movie!
  15. I like the color! Go for it Charlie!
  16. Nice work on the diorama! I like that you created the missing walls and a roof. I have this kit and have yet to do anything with it. The gas pumps look huge, and I’d been contemplating adding a second or third bay since there are few one bay stations. My family used to own a Getty station and we had three bays.
  17. Be safe Jim!
  18. It is a tiny little bug.. both of these are 1/24 scale. The modern 500 is much larger, still tiny! My daughter bought one new and has 135,000 trouble free miles in it.
  19. Welcome! We have fun here
  20. Yea! Glad to see it finished! It looks great!
