  1. We are working on the same project. This is just plain paper white glued in place, both gauges and radio. There is a 4x4 shifter notice on the glove box door that I still need a good image for.
  2. People will be scratching their heads wondering where that body came from. And you have enough left over for a pickup!
  3. A funny story about the AMT 32 Vicky.. Back when was building this one, I wanted to have interior window surrounds, like you see on the door above. So I cut up an extra body to use them on the reverse sides, both door and rear side glass. That’s when I discovered that the windows are actually different sizes! Nothing like manually created tooling from the old days!
  4. We aren’t accustomed to little visitors at my house. We are 2 hours west of our grandkids and always go to them since there are three of them three and under, who are best in their own home. This summer they did come to stay a few days and my granddaughter made a beeline for the shelf of bright colorful cars! We managed to stop her before she reached, and all the models were put up in the safety of my model room.. with the door closed!
  5. When I saw it I thought you used the pickup conversion parts from the 70 Pontiac convertible. I actually have all the parts in one box for that one! Someday!
  6. Here ya go Ron... Years ago.. my friend’s Caprice and my Vic. Mine was a loaded civvie, my grandfather’s last car that was entrusted to me.
  7. Shhhh! Hunting wabbits!
  8. Very cool build!
  9. Some “Hobby” company! Their corporate treats kits like you are buying a puzzle for your kid and anything will do!
  10. Old Dodge pickup in really nice shape. I saw it yesterday on my way home. It was sitting in a gas station lot.
  11. Why don’t old kits get reissued? Many factors beyond the kits appeal and potential of getting stuck with a few thousand copies. And I’m not the foremost expert! Preorders- manufacturers put the new kits out to their largest buyers. A certain number of preorders make the issue a safe bet. Company bandwidth- They only have so many project managers to handle individual projects. Note with Round 2, a lot of their people are working on projects... sci-fi genre, diecast etc with much more potential.. anything that they can get into big box stores goes to the head of the class! Funding - They have to work within their budgets, both overall and individual projects. No doubt there is a recipe of how much can be spent on the various functions needed to bring a kit to market. Production Scheduling - The factories in China are busy and only do many slots are available to the kit companies. So choose your product wisely! Overall ability of the market to consume product - can’t bring more SKUs or volume of kits to market than the wholesalers and buyers can consume! Potential of getting paid - Every buyer such as big box, wholesalers, retailers and mom and pops are on different payment schedules. Nothing like selling 20,000 kit run to companies on net 90 to net 120, to kill your cash flow! There’s a lot more to the business that a lot of us understand. So when you say “this kit is a no brainer”, it just may be disastrous to a manufacturer!
  12. In the early years of eBay I was a big car brochure collector and had tons of duplicate material including factory sealed cases of some brochures. I was doing very well back then. Everything sold and there were multiple bidders on most everything. A guy sent me back a Firebird brochure that looked like a cow licked it! Cover had all dried gunk on it and pages were all wrinkled and messy. It certainly wasn’t what I sent him because I was working out of a case of brand new old stock brochures. The one I sent was pristine and never even opened! This was before PayPal and in the days when you had the buyers email address. I sent him a terse note that I wasn’t running a free upgrade program, and attached a photo of the case I was working out of. Told him to send me postage if he wanted his cruddy brochure back. Never heard from him again.
  13. Nice row! I have a similar line up of promising restorables myself!
  14. Haven’t seen mine yet but mail is usually slow to the Philly burbs. Saturday is usually bulk mail day so I’m hopeful!
  15. Autographing the magazines
  16. You with a 59 Dodge? Go figger! ? I will be watching!
  17. Megahobby listed in NJ.. their retail storefront is called AAA Hobbies.
  18. Hey, if you like my post send me a dollar! ?
  19. Skunkworks? ? My current space is simply called my model room.. and storage in my basement is known as the model warehouse.
  20. Back in the days when there were model shows I attended regularly with an eye for cheap kits that were good for parts, old customs from the early 60s and anything that struck my fancy. I’d always come home with a few bags of stuff. This year has been different to say the least! I bought a copy of the 67 Chevy 4 door and the new Land Rover. I bought one resin VW. And j just bought 4 decal sets on eBay. Then I bought 9 kits at Ollies. Aside from that it was just paint and supplies to keep me building.
  21. My model room / den in my first house was called “The Dope Room”. It was the second floor in a cape cod style house with two sloping walls. A previous owner’s teenager painted all the walls and ceiling black and it was evident there were black light posters etc there once. And shag carpet. The first time my wife saw this she said it looked like people did dope up there. The name stuck.
