Sunday at the Resin Ranch. Got a lot done. Crown Vics rolling down the assembly line, Chevy low rider parts having molds made. A certain Californian will be glad to read that. The Beaumont grilles look very nice. But... What's that thing below the right grille? An air bubble in the mold, not an imperfection in the master. The caster's worst enemy, (aside from humidity) rare but annoying. However, this is an opportunity to make it better. I'm not very happy with the ends of the grille where it interfaces with the fenders, so I'll add some detail to that area to make it a bit more authentic. Always room for improvement. -

Superior job, some of the nicest work I've ever seen in 1:18 scale. -

We need a Hellcat widebody Redeye. I know, I won't hold my breath. -
I bought that car when it first came out, has to be 25 years ago. It was my first serious mail-order diecast, I remember being amazed when I first took it out of the package and started working all of its features. It's still pretty cool.

Phooey. Wouldn't you know that I went with the only picture on the interwebs that had one? Oh well, an easy correction. Did they make any Beaumont El Caminos? -

The individual letters are on the back of the '68, the '69 uses another script on the trunk lid, and there are two scripts in the MCG set. There are other small details too like the grille emblems and such, so it's not a bad deal. -

Steve, Yes, those taillights and 1/4 extensions look very nice, and would speed things up a good bit. Thanks for the offer, I'm interested. As for the '68 GTO dash, I think that would work well for a '68 Beaumont conversion, let's hold off on that until the new '68 Chevelle kit is released and see how well it fits that kit. Do you happen to have a MPC '69 GTO dash? -

Mike, That would be great. If anyone has one and is willing to send it to us, we will cast it and return the original to the owner. -

I got the front parts clayed up for the mold, and started filling in the 1/4s to start on the taillights. Yes, it will be offered by Greg Wann, the Master Caster. The front parts will be available first, the taillights and 1/4 extensions later. -
Very nice job, and those decals just about couldn't be any better. Great looking Mustang.

Years ago, I started making this grille. I'd always liked the Canadian versions of US cars with their often wild looking details, and the plan here was to build a Beaumont and bask in contest table glory; because who else would have thought of doing that? Well, when I was about half way through the grille, MCG announced their resin Beaumont conversion, complete with photoetch scripts, which took the wind out of that sail. So I put it away, and never thought about it again until I ran across it a few weeks ago. By then, MCG no longer offered their resin version, and the one that I'd seen looked pretty far off anyway - like someone stuck some GTO grilles in there and called it good, so I figured that now would be a good time to finish it. It's two pieces, the grille and the header panel. Cut the stock header out and replace it with the modified panel. I'd like to do the taillights, but I need further input on that. I can do the lenses, but that would require the builder to do cutting, filling, and bodywork to the 1/4 extensions on the kit body. Now most of us here can do that, but not everyone, so not sure how to go about that. I like Steve's idea of a whole new 1/4 extension, that may be a possibility. Doing the whole body is not really an option, we would do a hardtop, then people would want the convertible, and it would of course be a lot more expensive than just the conversion - so I'm going to concentrate on the grille and later on, the taillights. -

More test fitting - lenses this time. These are test lenses in opaque resin, all lenses in the kits will be in clear resin. The bottom part of the taillight on the 1:1 is the backup light, so do the top portion in Tamiya or equivalent clear red, front turn signals are amber on '88-'89, clear on '90-'91. First round clear lens test shot, a little milky but putting the resin in the vacuum chamber pulled the air and moisture out of it, and the production lenses will be more clear. (Clearer?) And here's the very first part that I made from start to finish, a '67 Galaxie hood to replace a missing hood on a kit. I did the clay-up, mold making, and resin pouring all under the supervision of the Master Caster, with quite good results.

Shouldn't be too hard, various sizes of Evergreen styrene for the main cris-cross and the four rectangular surrounds, I may have something for the louvers; I'll check tomorrow.
