  1. Kinda glad to see it. Lindberg made some really good kits. The 1/20 scale kits were all nice, and the more recent 1/25 scales like the 53 Ford and 63 Dodge were also really nice. Hopefully this keeps those kits alive even if they don't keep the company name.
  2. As an addendum to dropping freshly painted things in the nearest pile of dirt: These same parts will also find the nearest cache of cat hair in the carpeting. Recently shoved a microdrill through my fingertip. That was unpleasant.
  3. Most of the newer kits by Lindberg are worth building. The '53 Ford and '61 Chevy are really nice, so's the older 1/20 scale kits if you can find them.
  4. It looks great to me. And your work improves with every build.
  5. Actually, I want the Nazca kit. I'm gonna pick one up from Ebay when I get the chance.
  6. I haven't been back into car building long enough do build any duplicates. I've got two Ferrari Mythos kits, but only one is getting built stock.
  7. Last night I was painting the engine for a kit and dropped it on the carpet where one of my cats likes to hang out. had to remove the last coat of paint because of all the cat hair. These things happen, usually with a lot of swearing.
  8. I've got a Countach that I'm making new tail lights for (ex-gluebomb, tail lights and panel were missing). I'm planning on casting a set of tail lights in clear acrylic and then using colored sharpies to get the correct colors, then backing with BMF.
  9. Man, that's fantastic looking.
  10. My dad and brother both built a little bit when I was younger, but not so much anymore. Dad's true love is woodworking. My brother doesn't really have many hobbies besides reading and music. My wife has expressed interest in trying to paint a kit. I've got a spare one in my stash I'm going to offer her.
  11. I'm gonna have to have one of those.
  12. Looking at this build has just sold me on one of these kits. Excellent work.
  13. Very nice work on the vinyl top. This is going to look great.
  14. This looks really nice. Excellent work. I don't know. I've got one of the AMT ones on my bench. It's a pretty nice kit, once you get into it. I hope I can do it justice.
  15. Really nice build. I think the Trabant is kinda cute.
  16. Don't forget all of the marketing gibberish that the companies like to spout. They can only make kits of things that will sell. That's probably one of the reasons that the older kits keep getting reissued. Most of the ones that would REALLY sell have been been cast before, so it's cheaper and easier to re-release an older kit than to tool up an all new one. That's also why almost every company makes the 555 Chevy's, any model Corvette, Mustangs, etc., but good luck finding a '41 Dodge or anything unusual.
  17. I tend to watch my costs a little on the kits themselves. Usually not more than about $40 for a kit. To me, most kits are just not worth more than that. I've had good luck on Ebay, though getting glue bombs, or ones that were partially started but not mangled.
  18. I use the Testors liquid glue in places where it would be something stressed. I should probably switch to something a little tougher like Tenax. I usually use superglue for the rest just because of speed issues.
  19. Reminds me of the one from Cherry 2000. That'll look cool.
  20. That spare tire cover is brilliant. I can't wait to see this thing painted. You should consider doing a resin cast.
  21. really nice work.
  22. Incredible work. I'm in awe every time there's an update.
  23. Typically I use Testor's. Since I'm usually closest to a Hobby Lobby, it's just easier to run in there when I need paint. I've used Duplicolor a few times and their paints work really well. I'd be tempted to use them again. Now that there's a Hobbytown USA nearer my home, I may start trying the Tamiya paints.
